Mary,I saw your old postings on genfoum. I think my Burris's tie in to your John Burris/Kitty Fox Burris line. I have a Jesse Burris b. 1770 NC or VA, d. 1842, Clark co IL. I think he is a son of John and Kitty Burris and that John may be one of possibly 5 brothers to come to US in 1700's, (not positive) but that's the story my recently found (thru dna) cousin told me (about the 5 that is). I have been looking for your email, I'm so glad I found this site, I hope you see this and answer for us to talk. Richard Burris

I have not been able to find out who George Leonards parents were and what was Margarets last name. I have seen no pictures of anyone after Charles Edgar Leonard Sr. I have the head of household census records for George but we all know just how helpful they are. Could you please assist me if you have any information.

I have a 1812 Family Bible handed down to me by my late grandmother. I am just now starting my genealogy searching. My grandmother was the daughter of Perry Lewis born 1840 in Huntington Township Ohio.

I couldn't find an email address to ask you if your Rupe family knew or ws related somehow to my grandad James Elmer Smith who married first Eva Peek in Appanoose County, Iowa? They had a daughter Ada who married a Morrow.
Eva died and my granddad married Nellie Lorraine Harl.
they also lived in Katy, Texas a number of years. I saw the name Morrow on your site. My granddad had the name Rupp at the top of a list of names, mostly kin. I think I may even have a picture of a Rupp, but I would really have to dig to find it. I hope I'm not out of line in asking. Great website. Great looking families past and present. This is an awesome site! Regarding Daniel Keith (on the Scott/Liddell and Keith page). Do you have any more info on the rest of his children and continued family history? The information I have from research off the Internet is that he had a son named James (b.1770). James had a daughter named Nancy Keith (b.1809) who married John Mason in Franklin, Tn. They had a son named James Mason (b 1832) who m. Nancy Miller. They both had a daughter named Martha Mason (b. 1844). Anyway, if this is all true, that would make Daniel my 6th great grandfather. Please let me know if you have any more info on the siblings from Daniel's birth on. Thank you so much for such a wonderful site. I am just stunned how detailed it is.

Your website is wonderful and full of information. I have been trying to research my LEONARD family line. My g g g grandfather was William LEONARD 1805 married Phoebe CLINTON 1806. After William died Phoebe married a Joseph DOTY. Phoebe parents are John CLINTON and Lemira DOTY. Is this any part of your DOTY line? I am also very interested in finding information re. William, my understanding is that his parents were Jonas LEONARD 1774 AND Julia GOULD. Most of my line seems to come from PA and New York and then to OK and TX.

I am looking for info on Adam Ridenhour, he maybe a 6th great grandfather. His possible daughter is Anna Marie Barbara Ritenour b.ca.1753, she is a 5th grandmother. Anna is where our line begins, so if you could get me more ancestor info that would certainly be a breakthrough.

My Leonard are from the line of David Leonard of Louisa County, VA (this is my brick wall). He had 3 sons John, James and William, and 2 daughters Margaret (Peggy) and Mary. James and William fought in Rev. War. William was killed in the war. Family migrated to Abbeville, SC district about 1790 then on to Alabama, St Clair County in early 1800. After that some moved on to Shelby, Pickens and Walker Counties before Civil War.

My brother Harold Zirkle gave me your website address and he said you lived in Alabama. I lived in Alabama for ten years after my husband retired. We lived halfway between Gulf Shores and Foley. Am interested in knowing where you live. We loved it in Alabama in the winter. Stayed in Gulf State Park for several years before buying land and building a house. We did a lot of shrimping in Mobile Bay around the mouth of the Bon Secour River. Loved fishing in the Gulf and the Intercoastal Waterway. I live in Pa. now since my husband passed away. I am hoping you can shed some light on my family history. You may have received another e-mail from me. My grandmother was Emma Lucina Doty, born July 7, 1913 in Southern Illinois. I am not sure of the town, maybe Anna, Cobden or Carbondale. Her father was Benny Doty. I am new at this, but very excited to see your website and I noticed that you have Illinois indexed in as a state your family migrated to.
I have been told my grandmother was part Irish, I know she was part English. I know little else about her father's side of the family. I do have interesting information about her mother. If you are interested, or think there may be a family connection, I would truly love to hear from you!
I live in Texas now, but was born in Anna Illinois. Possibly you have information?

Hi Mary, I think my husband may be related to you on the KEITH and HOBBS lines. Did your John HOBBS marry a Hannah OVERMAN with a daughter named Eunice Ann HOBBS, b. 4 Apr 1860, Washington Co., IN?

Also have a Sarah HOBBS [b. ca1810, prob. IN] who married my husband's great grandfather Jesse BOLING.

Also have a Rev. James KEITH [b. 6 Nov 1696, Peterhead, Scotland; d. 1758, Hamilton, VA] who m. Mary Isham RANDOLPH [b. 1714, Mansfield, Louisiana Co., VA; d. 10 Dec 1753]. This wife of James KEITH's is different than yours, but I suppose James could have married more than once.

Will look forward to hearing from you. :-) Carolyn

Are you Related? I'm a Ridenour descendant
Comments:
I have a disconnect in my Ridenour genealogy. John William Ridenour, January 15, 1820 to February 20, 1900, is my g-g-grandfather. He was born in Washington County, MD. His father has come down to me as Frederick Ridenour who was married to Susan Haver. Frederick Ridenour is listed as the son of Nicholas Reitenour and Katharina Tackler. I have never found Frederick and his spouse or a Nicholas with the spouse Katharina Tackler in any of the genealogies listed on RootsWeb. Do you have any information that could shed some light on this? I have lots of information on the descendants of John William Ridenour (we all lived in Indiana, I now live in Connecticut)but I don't know if it is the same family as yours or if you would be interested.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

My gret grandfather was William Leonard born 1/16/1849 in Pittsford, VT. I have been unable to go back beyond his parents names listed on his marriage certificate to Jennie Ann Flanders 7/7/1869, which were James and Nancy Leonard. I haven't found any James and Nancy Leonard in 1850 or 1860 Census of VT which lends me to believe they were not from VT. My grandmother, who had helped her aunt with a DAR application(thrown out when she died in 1965), said the family had a Mayflower connection which would make me believe they might be from MA. If you run accross any info that looks good for my family, let me know.

The early Leonards you've mentioned aren't part of our Leonard family. That Thomas didn't marry Lydia White. He died without marrying and left his material goods to a grandnephew. We probably descended from some French ironworkers who were brought in to Sussex to foster new iron ore processing technology in the 1500's. I can't quote sources since I'm on the road and working from a laptop, but you should look up Bill Barton's pages. He's descended from the Henry of New Jersey line, like you, and has examined the Leonard antecedants in detail.

His father was William Mark Clark,b.Sept. 1856 in Pine Hill, Jackson Co. Wisconsin. Wm.'s father was Philo Clark,b. abt. 1822 in Mass. I thought it would be reasonably easy to find such an unusual name as Philo and be able to track it down....wrong......
It wasn't so unusual after all. Or maybe it was and I just haven't straightened it out yet. All I knew about dad's family was that he was born in N.D. and raised on a farm there until about 1925 when they moved to CA. I knew his father was b. in WI. and married there. I learned from an obituary that his father was Philo Clark but had no idea who his mother was, then the census' became available on line and I found Philo with wife and children on the 1860 census for Jackson Co. WI. It said Philo was born in Mass. and given his age, about 1822. Philo named his first born son Rufus, followed by Sarah, Mary, Carlos (Charles), Walter Scott, John D., William Mark, and Jerome.his son Rufus was born in Ohio, all the others in WI. Given that most first born sons were named after their grandfathers I started looking for earlier Rufus Clark's and did find both the names Rufus, Philo, John in Mass. but haven't been able to exactly pin point the connection for me. Guess I'll keep digging. I see you also have a Mass. background also, with a John was it? Maybe we are connected. Anyway, I love your site and have made it one of my favorites and will enjoy seeing it grow.
Congradulations on a job well done,
Janice Moore

I believe that my John Rupe is the unknown son (John) of Jacob and Martha Price Line. However I do not have any proof. Do you have any information that would help me identify my John Rupe. Your line fits into my line in another spot. Which is not a direct line. My John Rupe is a direct line and I would like some help.
If you visit my webpage, http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~bobbistockton/ You will be able to see how both your line and John Rupe's line fits into my family.
To view John Rupe - Click on McConnell which later joins the Wilkinson line with Julia Rupe. To view how your line fits into mine - Click on Wilkinson. Orza Sylvester Bacon, m. Hazel Charlotte Rupe. I hope you see something I don't, and can be of great help. Thank you. B.

The picture on the top row right is of the Isaac Newton Goodvin family and was taken near Ransom in northern Ness Co, Kansas. Isaac's wife was Nancy Ann Cline, the daughter of Levi & Ruth Scott Cline pictured elsewhere. My grandfather, Arlando Dean Goodvin is the boy on the right. The son who died the next year, John Daniel is either the boy on the left or the one in the back on horseback. Opinion differs. Some say the boy on the left was John Alexander Logan Beamer, soon to become a son-in-law, my father's uncle John. Your photo is cropped. Mine shows a man with a Russian fur hat on. No one seems to know who he was. I am excited about the Keith line. I have no further back than Daniel Keith. The Keith's were Marichals of Scotland for many years but I have never been able to connect Daniel to them. How accurate do you consider your data?

I am descended from Lewis Zirkle, brother of George Adam Zirkle. I have a small correction for your Elizabeth Ridenour data. She and George Adam Zirkle were married at Frederick, MD, not New Market, VA. Their marriage is recorded on page 1187 of the records of the German Reformed Church of Frederick, MD and it on LDS microfilm #13935. George Adam Zirkle was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Frederick on June 20, 1762. After marriage they lived near Hagerstown, MD until they sold the property there to Elizabeth's uncle, Mathias Ridenour in 1778 before moving to New Market, VA.

I am descended from Hendrik Ridenour baptised in Schraalenburg, NJ, in 1738. He was in the 4th New Jersey Volunteers until 1789 and emigrated to Canada where he died between 1809 and 1815. Their name was anglicized to Redner and the place where they settled in Canada is called Rednersville.

I am so impressed with your family research and web pages I have just seen through RootsWeb. You have done a wonderful job. I hope I can emulate your efforts one day.

I am interested in the Ridenour/Reitenauer connection. I wouldn't be direct, but my great grandmother Nancy Jane Ridenour b. 29 April 1844 in Missouri, married 20 June 1861, Worth Co. Missouri, George Washington Spoonemore b. 26 Sept. 1835. They emigrated to British Columbia, Canada, with one of their sons, William Franklin Spoonemore and his family and died here. This is as much as we know about Nancy Jane and with such an unusual surname feel there might be a connection. The Spoonemores/Sponheimers also immigrated from the Palatinate about 1750. It is possible she is a great/granddaughter of Johannes Reitenauer through a son. If you have any information I would greatly appreciate hearing it. Many thanks.
