I was magically blown away. Growing up, my grand father was a quite man and did not share any of the family history. I only knew tidbits of information. After speaking with Daryl and possibly that we are direct decendants of the Guedry-Guidry-Labine family, I am bown away. I have been researching and wanting to meet family. I am the oldest of four siblings. If this is the case and we are all related, it would be an honor to meet other Guidry-Guedry-Labine decendants and complete our family circle.

Hello Everyone!
My name is Kevin Gilbert Guidry, and I'm a Major in the US Army currently serving in Iraq. My immediate family lives in southern NJ, although I currently live in Upstate NY. Our closest relatives outside of the NE live in Abbeville, La. I have always had an interest in the Guidry family history, as my brother Bill, a retired prosecutor (and 15 years older than me) has a pretty good grasp of the family history as it relates to La. I have always been interested in Canada, however, and have started to research the family history from NS, and specifically, Claude Guedry and Marguerite Petitpas. I've been to Nova Scotia, and have seen Port Royal and the other areas around there, and have actually seen the reprints of the maps showing where the Guedry and Petitpas homesteads once stood. My family traces its history back to Claude's son Augustin.
When I get back from Iraq this summer, I'm taking more of the family up to NS to show them exactly what started our history here in North America.

My name is Cameron Labine. I'm 32 years old. I live in Vancouver, British Columbia. I have two brothers, Tyler and Jonathan Kyle. We all work in the film industry.
We come from a clan of Labine's scattered through the Toronto area, connected by a family cottage in Waubushene, Ont.
My grandfather's name was Walter Labine, I believe born in Northern Ontario somewhere.
My father's name is Douglas Labine, born in Toronto. He had three brothers, Bruce, Jerry and Terry. All of whom had kids, mostly boys, so there is a large crop of Labine cousins between the ages of 18 and 33.
My grandfather died when I was young but I remember my grandmother saying that our full name had been LaBine dit Guidry (looks like she had this backwards) and that our ancestors had fled france for political reasons.

I'm surprised that there is so little mention of the N. Ont. Labines - quite a few. In KL, Timmins, Thunder Bay, Sudbury/Azilda (there is even a Labine Street there), Sault St Marie.
I've always thought being a Labine was cool - there are so few of us, you know if you run into one, somehow you're related!

Hi! I married a Guidry in 1987. We are both native Houstonians (TX). His parents are also natives. Ron's grandparents came from Lafayette, LA. We have 10 children (18mo - 22yrs, 2 from my first marriage). I visited Lafayette for the first time a few years back and it was really great to show our children the family name on street signs and other businesses. And the best part was that people actually knew how to pronounce our name!
Anyway, I found this site from the info we received for the '99 reunion. I have enjoyed this site and will be back! Maybe we will even come to the Nova Scotia reunion!
