William Ernest born about 1830 Middlesex England was a name used by severel of the Fitches in my family. William married Eliza (nee Leake) born 1829 but I do not know much about him and nothing earlier than him. I would love to find out more though he seems to be a bit of a mystery man.

I am descended from the James Powell who came to Texas from Ga. in 1854. James Powell's eldest son, William Nevil Powell, is my great grandfather. He is the brother to John Thomas Powell. After William Nevil married, his only direct line was through females. I am looking for a direct male line form this James Powell that might be interested in taking a DNA test to determine the linage beyond our James. If you know of a male descedent that still carries the Powell name please let me know. There was a Powell family that settled in Hood County about the same time James went to East Texas. Eddie Dee Fitch was my maternal grandfather and Fannie Franklin (Bundricks)Fitch was my grandmother. Fannie died in childbirth(breach birth)and there is the baby in the casket with her in the Griffin Cemetery. I have looked for the Fitch Cemetery in Blackjack but have not been able to locate it. I remember as a teenager going to the funeral for Young Dewey Fitch's second wife (Sallie) and she was buried in this cemetery. My mother,Sally Ruth Fitch, passed in 1964. But I still have two of her sisters, Katherine Lee and Ida Belle. There were twin sisters, Alleen and Olleen and a brother Buck. I am so glad to have found this site! There were questions that I had that have now been answered!!!Thank you so very much...
