After living in Henrico and Chesterfield counties, Robert Peter Moseley bought considerable land in Buckingham Co, VA and established his plantation there called Willow Lake. His son John Arthur was born in Chesterfield Co. and his christening registered in Jan. 1766 in Rev. Douglas' book. The family moved after that. Robert and Magdelaine (Guerrant) Moseley lived the rest of their lives in Buckingham County.

John Heveningham was the son of John Heveningham of Lichfield,England and his wife, Sarah Benitt. Very little is known of John's early life in England but his profession was that of a physician. John never married. John's great grandfather, Symon Heveningham was a Cavalier and served as a major in Charles 1 army during the English Civil War. The Heveningham family settled in Staffordshire in the mid 1500s and originally came from Suffolk where the family had been since at least the year 1320. John is mentioned in the Chesterfield County Will Book 7 1808-1813, and also Chesterfield County Deed Book 14 1795-1800 LVA Reel # 5 and Chesterfield County Deed Book 15 1800-1802 LVA Reel # 6.

Charles moved to the City of Richmond, VA between 1850 and 1856 although I don't know exactly when or for what purpose. His 1856 marriage announcement to Rosalie Winfree of Chesterefield Co. (The Daily Express, Petersburg, VA Saturday Morning, March 1, 1856) lists him as being from Richmond.
His and Rosalie's issue is Henry Addington (last mayor of Manchester). His grandchildren are: Charles Edward (married twice but no issue), Henry A. Jr. (married Elmira but no issue) Rosa Francis (never married; no issue); Margarette Woodland (married Charles O'Neal; issue of unk name(s)) and Harold Cobb (married Cornelia Watkins; three issue).
Charles S. lived out his days in Chesterfield Co.

Total may be more than 16 families. Anyone researching a Chesterfield County family, and "losing" someone who disappears from VA records, should look in Cumberland County, KY.

Joseph Clayton shows up in Nelson Co., KY about 1761. He was in the Rev.War from 1777 until 1782. Tax records for him 1784 up until 1823. We have alot of his war records, but cannot seem to find his wife's full name. Parents names or when he left Maryland and went to either Virginia or Kentucky. There were lots of land changing hands during those years.

William Bowman, born July 1755, son of Joseph Bowman of Chesterfield County and Mary CLARKE (?), Married Mary COSBY, dau. of Samuel COSBY Jr and Elizabeth FAURE / FORD, Dec 28 1779 in Goochland County by the Rev. William Douglas. Family remained in vicinity of Goochland and Chesterfield until about 1794 when it relocated to Rutherford County, NC., where William died in 1808. Mary was residing in Lumpkin County, Georgia in 1850 when she applied for a widow's pension based on William's revolutionary war service. One son remained in Rutherford County, other children relocated to Georgia, Tennessee, Illinois.

William was listed as being 19 years old at the time of the 1850 Henrico County, Virginia census. In January, 1857 was one of the greatest recorded snowstorms in Virginia history. William was living in Henrico County, Virginia.
In 1860, at the age of about 29, William came to Ettrick, a part of Chesterfield County, from Henrico. At about this time, the population of Ettrick was 830 persons - 460 females and 370 males (source: "Petersburg Express" newspaper, August 11, 1859).
William was a blacksmith before and after the Civil War. Following the Civil War, he was a blacksmith for the Northern and Western Railroad.
William was enlisted May 15, 1861 in Petersburg by Captain Perkins into Company F, 16th Virginia Infantry (Colston's Regiment Virginia Infantry; 26th Regiment of the Virginia Infantry).
Following the Civil War, he was a member of the A. P. Hill Society of United Confederate Veterans. In 1911, William was a grocer in Ettrick. He is buried in Ettrick Cemetery, Ettrick, Virginia. Sons Emmett and Wesley were the executors of his will.
