In the early 80's there was a priest in Singapore named Charbonnier. I don't know his whereabouts now.
The French had a significant presence in early Singapore and started the Convent of Holy Infant Jesus Schools.

Hi. Nicely done site. I am currently looking for any information on Rochelle Marie Chabino from Los Angeles CA. Deceased 7/11/79. I have corresponded with Art Chabino who is a very friendly and helpful man. As of yet I have had no luck locating Chabino relatives who knew of her. Anything you have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

My grandfather's name was Camille Charbonneau (on my father's side). He lived in Sainte-Rose, prov. of Quebec. When the first motor cars appeared, he had the audacity and the courage to transform his blacksmith shop into a garage (GM Dealer) and he was the first dealer on the Ile Jesus, now Ville de Laval. My father told me my grandfather's friends and siblings would mock him and didn't think his project was serious and so, he went ahead and he did it anyway, he believed in himself and in his projects and proved them wrong. In a short time, his business was so successfull, he had to move his garage to a larger area and he built a very large one. He could've been a "Bombardier" for having built "maybe" the first skidoo ever for his young kids to play with, it was a car on 4 skis instead of 4 wheels, I used to have a picture of it, but can't find it, I may have given it away to one of my nephews.
I thought you would like to hear this story which I find quite extraordinary for the time they live in.

Oliver and Marie Garnier Charbonneau sailed from New Rochelle France in 1659. Settled in the Montreal area. They had a daughter and three sons. I have traced my ancestry back to one of the sons.
