OH MY I found a picture of my grand mother Myrtle Lyons Adams.
I new her right away. The only picture I have of her the pictures we had were long ago destroyed by fire. And I never saw her parents till now. Oh thank you who ever posted these pictures. It is with great sorrow that Susan E. Richmond died April 5, 2009 from bteast cancer. She fought a great fight against this terrible disease since December 2006.
Susan was a lovely lady and a friend of my wife and I.
She will be sorely missed by my family. She visited us last year and spent the night with us. To us her loss is a personal loss.

My grandmother, Vernila Cook Adams, was the daughter of William Sherman Cook.
William Sherman Cook, supposedly, left WV to work the mines in VA and was killed. I received an email a few years ago from a John Cook saying that oral family tradition has it that his grandfather, Rev. Harry Ingram Cook ( brother of WSC) had found the grave but he didn't know where.
Is the John Cook that emailed me still around? Does anyone have any info about this?
Also, I have always seen WSC death date as 1908 but I found him on the 1910 census living next door to his brother. Does anyone have the 1908 documentation of his death???
One more question....is there a Cook(e) reunion this year??

Their children were: John Grant Cook, Nancy Sarah Cook, Lucy Caroline Cook, ANSEL (OR ANCELL) MONTREVILLE COOK, and Barnard Rufus Cook.
Ancell Montreville Cook, b. 1821 in Haywood Co., NC & d.1903 in Union Co., GA is my husband's line.
Many of these folks migrated to Union, Fannin and Gilmer Co., GA; then on to Howell & Douglas Co., MO; and ultimately to OK.
Isaiah & Sarah's descendants have been trying to ascertain who Isaiah's parents and siblings were...any information in that quest will be greatly appreciated!

I've been trying to find out if what I was told some 40 years ago is true. That my GGGrandmother Sarah Ann Ellison Wills Farley was an Indian. The picture I have of her sure looks like she might be. Certain members, (a sister, brother, father,& Grandmother) of my family, do have the looks.
Also How do I submit info I have for Sarah A. E. Wills- Farley's son, Oley B. Wills? He was our GGGrandfather.

My Wyoming Co Cook ancestor was Anne Cooke 1826-1858, wife of Henry T. Clay. She was the daughter of James Cooke 1786-1864 and Dorcas Meadows b1783.
My first Halsey ancestor in Wyoming Co was Henry Drury Halsey 1832-1892. Andrew Halsey 1882-1960 was my grandfather, Earl Halsey 1910-1988 was my father. Sarah Elizabeth Farley daughter of John Harrison Farley and Martha Emaline Brinegar was my grandmother.
I have another Cook ancestor, Martha Ann Cook, but I have recently traced her to a Summers County line and further traced that line back to German immigrants whose name originally was Koch.

Great site! I've been researching my maternal grandmother's line and while doing a search on Nellie Pemberton found you. My grandmother's name is Carrie Lillian Cook. I recently came across an old W.Va newspaper in her box of momentos dated August 27, 1948 and there was a large series of articles on the Cook family reunion with some info on our vast lineage. Some of the information is a little conflicting with what I've found here, but it's been fun dipping into a little of my family's history. Mary Jamison Bailey married Thomas White. The daughter Lucinda White married Levi Comer. Their daughter Caroline Princess "Carrie" Comer married Wiley Cephas Smith (and later Jessie Rogers). They were my grandmother Blake's parents.
Lucinda and Levi had Caroline, Louisa Ann, John C. Blanche and William Augustus.
Wiley Cephus Smith and Caroline had Vivian Martha (my grandmother), Elbert Wiley, General Lee (name only), William Verner, Myrtle Oretha (Honeker), Lillian Lucinda, Elmer Chepas, Catherine Marie, Bertha Olive (Shutt), and Ernest Lewis.
Grandma Vivian married Nolen Maxel Blake and they had Katherine Elizabeth (Uhl), Norma Jean (Brown), Nancy Carol (Wood), Sandra Kay (Painter), and Nolen Charles Blake (deceased).
Nolen was my father. He married Cheryl Rea Hurley, now O'Roark from Deepwater Mtn area.
I have a sister Veronica Lucas.
Mom, sis and I all live in Georgia now. Everyone listed was born in WV.
I can't find anything on my mom's side of the family...

Charles and Caroline left Raleigh and went to Lawrence County, Kentucky. Their daughter, Virginia Elizabeth Clay was my Great-Grandmother. She married Carter Estep in Boyd County, Kentucky in 1880.
