I am researching my husbands Bates family in Strabane.
William Bates married Anne Lowry in 1827 Bready, Strabane. They had 4 sons and 3 daughters that I have found. The 3rd son William Ernest emigrated to New Zealand in 1864 on "Maxwell". Brother Stewart and sister Jane followed on the "Queen Bee" in 1869. William Ernest is my husbands G grandfather and I have collected a lot of info in both New Zealand and Australia to the present day. I can't find bmd for the family before William and Anne can anyone help?

Comments:
My husband's ancestor, William Burnside, was married to Margaret Hogg before coming to America with at least two brothers, Robert and Joseph. Robert was the oldest of the three, so maybe their grandfathers were Robert Burnside and William Hogg--but I have no facts available for that. William and Margaret have marble stone on their graves, and local source says he thinks they were shipped over from Ireland. Is that possible? William died in 1854 and Margaret in 1954 and their gravesite is in Londonderry, Guernsey County, Ohio, USA. I found several possible ancestors, especially the Falx List of 1796.

I am looking for brothers and sisters of Thomas Fletcher, born 1840 who married Hannah Chambers on 15 Dec 1868. His father was Thomas Fletcher. She was the natural daughter of Eliza Chambers who was married to Archibald Griffin when Hannah was baptised in Donagheady in 1854 (born in 1849). One brother is possibly John James Fletcher who was 58 years old in 1911 census. Thomas and Hannah also had a son John James Fletcher born in 1871 who may have been named after his uncle. I have all of Thomas and Hannah's children. The father of Hannah is unknown, although she is sometimes recorded as Hannah Stewart Chambers, and since she was 18 when she married and she was not a widow, she would not have been married first to a Stewart.

I am looking for brothers and sisters of David Allen born 1820 and of Mary Day, who married at Donagheady Parish on 10 Jan 1840. Her father was William Day. His father was James Allen. I have all of the children and families of David Allen and Mary Day.

Looking for my great-great grandmother, whose name was either Sarah Eliza Somerville or perhaps Eliza Somerville. I have found an Arthur and Sarah Somerville (married 1819)and whose daughter Eliza was born in 1821. Since my father's name was Arthur Somerville O'Connor, I am hopeful that this family may be my ancestors. My gg grandmother Eliza/Sarah Somerville married Daniel O'Connor circa 1850 in Ireland; their first two children (Edward and Matilda O'Connor) were christened Roman Catholic in Belfast in 1852 and 1854 respectively. Around 1855 they moved to Leeds, England, where my great grandfather, James Daniel O'Connor, was born. Daniel and his wife also had a young daughter named Sarah Eliza O'Connor who died at 6 months of age. Does any of this Somerville line "ring a bell" with any other Somervilles?

Surname(s) in Co Tyrone Hamilton, Robinson, Wilson, Bratton
Locations(s) Fintona
Dates(s) prior to 1867
Comments:
Richard Hamilton, d. 1864, is said to have married Jennie Bratton at Fintona. They were Church of Ireland congregants. Richard died in Fintona and Jennie removed to America with several of her children, initially settling in Ohio. Ann Bratton Hamilton is thought to have been born about 1808; the eldest Hamilton child, Ann, was born about 1830 in Fintona.

The Robinsons and Wilsons also lived at Fintona, though they removed to Ohio in the late 1830s. The youngest Hamilton daughter, Jennie (b. 1850), married Samuel John Wilson in the States. He was a grandson of Henry Robinson, b. 1776, Fintona.

Any suggestions welcome.

As you will see below I have a lot of information on my family in Canada. What I need is additional information on the Irish end. Where is the farm? Who were the other Doughertys or Andersons? And a ton of other unanswred questions. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

GGGrandfather:
Benjamin Dougherty b. 1796, County Down, Providence Ulster (townland or parish not known at this time) d. 18 Nov. 1882, Anglican Cemetery, Lower Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada (Today named “Parish of Woodstockö Christ Church. Parish Rectory Anglican Church`), arrived Canada 1839 with 5 children and 4 more were born in Canada. Benjamin’s tombstone (which is broken) in the Anglican Cemetery in Lower Woodstock, NB gives his name as Dougherty but the burial record from the church records reads “#126 Dogherty, Benjamin of Richmond (buried) d. 21 Nov 1882 86 yearsö. Benjamin’s stone has another name listed on it and we believe it is Hugh. We will have to contact the church to confirm this. Sarah’s stone “In Memory of Sarah wife of Benjamin Dougherty died June 20, 1875 aged 69 yearsö. Benjamin m. Sarah Anne Anderson 21 April 1824 at Drumglass Church, Dungannon, Co. Tyrone, Ireland More commonly called “St. Anne’s Church. In 2005 I visited this church site but the old church had been torn down and a new one erected in its place. I have pictures of the new church. (I have a copy of the Marriage License Bond LDS film 100859, Diocese of Armagh in my file)..

Also a Joseph Dougherty in the same place. I have a family tree on a Joseph Doherty b. 1794 in Ireland and all his descendents. At this time I am not sure if he is a brother to Benjamin or if he is Joseph A.
Also Alex. Anderson was in Drumcoo townland Drumglass parish 1832
Andw. Andreson in Congo, Drumglass, 1832
David Anderson, Coole, Clonoe, 1827
J. Anderson Dungannon Gardens, Drumglass 1832

Dates(s) 1800s
Comments:
I am researching my paternal great-great-grandparents, all of whom lived in and around the parish of Aghaloo, near the villages of Caledon, Dyan, Aughnacloy & Carnteel.

John MERCER of Dromore, Caledon (1793-1878) married Anne CAMPBELL (1801-1876).
Samuel MURPHY of Ballybuoy, Caledon(1808- ) married Anne HACKETT (1808- ).
James WILSON of Dyan Hill, Dyan (1806-1878) married Nancy WILSON (1818- ).
John McGrann of Annaghmore (1801-1897) married Magdalene WRIGHT ( - ).

All these men were farmers. I have traced the names of most of their fathers too, but do not have much information about their mothers.

If anyone recognises any of these married couples' names and can share any more information on them I should be very glad to hear from you. In particular, I am interested in learning more about my McGrann and Wright ancestors - also the Campbells. I believe the Murphy and Hackett families married one another's offspring over successive generations. (One branch of the Hacketts may have moved to Froughmore, near Clogher.)

Thanks for a great board.
