I am looking for a will for David Burns, died Grant County, KY in abt 1838.
Per census records and the number of sons shown in 1830, it is very possible my ancestor, Philip C Burns, was one of his sons.
Other sons known of David Burns are: Cornelius, Thomas and James.
My ancestor, Philip, was born in KY about 1824, married a woman named Malinda (or possibly Matilda) and had moved to Boone County by 1850. He named two of his sons Cornelius and Thomas. Philip and family moved to Vevay Indiana before Civil War.
Any information on this family would be well appreciated!

List the surnames you are researching McFarland, Ratcliff, Stephenson
Comments:
I am trying to find the length of time and which congregation(s) that my ggg-grandfather Benjamin McFarland lived in the Grant and Harrison County areas. I found that he was married to Martha Stephenson in 1795 in Harrison County. He was also found there in 1810 per the census. In the 1820 census and tax list he is found in Grant County on the Ten Mile. In 1825 his son Thomas appears to have taken responsibility for taxes on the Grant county property. It is also about this time that the most if not all of the family moved to Perry Township, Marion County, Indiana. Sometime around 1800 he married Mary Ratcliff, somewhere in the area I presume. She may be related to the Grant County Ratcliffs mentioned at the Lebanon Presbyterian Church. Another relative has suggested that part of the time Benjamin and family lived in Campbell County with at least one child being said to have been born there, but according to their published tax lists, Benjamin McFarland's name does not appear.
Does anyone have access to either Pendleton County (pre-1820) or Harrison County (1794-1820) tax lists of this time period? I am trying to establish dates of residency, then determine probable churches to which there may be records of this time period.

List the surnames you are researching ODER / ODOR / MULLIGAN
Enter your query in the comments section ODER / ODOR
Comments:
I am researching the ODER / ODOR line. My g-grandfather is Alonzo Lorenzo ODER, b: 8-Dec-1868 Corinth, Grant, KY. (His grandfather also had a child named Alonzo, b: Sept 1876 - it gets confusing)
The line goes like this:
Alonzo L. ODER's father is:
Newton ODOR, b: about 1842 KY he died before 1880, leaving a widor, Sarah M. HASELTON (HASELWOOD) b: 5-Dev-1864 D: 31-May-1880 Grant, KY, leaving several children without parents. I can not locate their dates of death or cemetery. (The 1880 Census places evreyone in Cordova, Grant, KY) Newton and Sarah had the following children: Lillie D., b: abt 1866 KY (later married FNU MULLIGAN, per g-gf obit), Alonzo Lorenzo, b: 8-Dec-1868 (my g-gf), Walter b:abt 1871 and William "Willie", b: abt 1873.

Newton's parents are: Thomas J. ODOR, B: 1816 KY D; after 1900 and Lucy J. (unknown-possibly MOZEE), B: 1818 KY D: before 1900 Thomas and Lucy had the following children: Missouri, Newton, Jasper, George, Thomas J. jr., Melissa and Alonzo. (not my granfather Alonzo) Thomas' parents were both born in KY, per the census.

This is the most difficult line for me, as you can tell from the long email. I've chased census records, but I can't find enough information. My mother was told by her grandfather, Alonzo Lorenzo, that he grew up in a French speaking house. His father died sometime before 1880 (Alonzo would have been 12 in 1880) AND his mother died in 1880. (I don't have proof of that death date.

It seems that the ODOR / ODER family lived in Grant County for SO LONG, but I can't find anything other than census records.

I am hoping someone can help me trace the past, or point me in the right direction. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Death dates, cemetery, obit's ANYTHING

Thank you
Amy Hough-Grubbs

I am looking for the marriage of James H. Burns to Mahala Morris sometime after 1830, probably in Grant County. Would also like to find their parents. James and Mahala went to Ripley Co., IN in 1838. There was a Thomas Burns in the 1820 census of Grant Co., and a Thomas Burns in 1840 in Ripley Co. IN. Were they one and the same? Be happy to share family information.
Thanks so much.

List the surnames you are researching CURRY, KEITH, ROBERTSON
Enter your query in the comments section Nicholas CURRY and Eleanor?
Comments:
I am looking for information on Nicholas CURRY who appeared in Grant Co., KY in the 1820's. His wife is listed as Eleanor and mentioned in reference to an estate for one Mary ROBERTSON who inherited property from Joseph INGLES. Eleanor is said to be the daughter of Mary ROBERTSON. I have found leads that suggest this Mary ROBERTSON might have been the wife of Zachariah ROBERTSON and that she was married before to a Mr. SMITH. One researcher has her maiden name as KEITH. Nicholas CURRY's son, Riley J. CURRY has a biography written about him in IL that states Nicholas was in the Revolutionary War and that his wife was Ellen/Helen KEITH. Other researchers claim his wife was Eleanor ROBINSON or ROBERTSON or even RALSTON. I would love to solve the mystery as to who Nicholas' wife was. Perhaps a peek at that estate paperwork concerning the property of Mary ROBERTSON? How do I get a copy? Are such records still in existence? Are they archived in Grant County or elsewhere? Any help greatly appreciated!! Best wishes to you in your own research! --Laura

List the surnames you are researching Boaz, Price (Louella), Courtney

I know very little of the above ancestry. I think Louella's family owned a grocery store in or near Folsom in the late 1800's, and then she moved to Glencoe (Gallatin County) after marrying Jasper Boaz. The Courtney family for which I'm interesting in finding info are William and Laura, who resided somewhere near Brush Creek and then moved to Eagle Hill (Owen County, I believe).

List the surnames you are researching hazelwood
Comments:
Looking for any help! I have an Elizabeth born 1820 in Kentucky. According to family tradition, her parents were killed when she was very young. She was taken in by a Crawford family that was traveling though. They were from Allenton, PA. Her son's obit named her Charlotte Hazelwood, although it is clear from all records her name was Elizabeth. Could Charlotte be her real name and the Crawford's renamed her? She named a son Clifton so together I am figuring her father might be Clifton Hazelwood who is on your tax list for 1820 & 1821. If this is the right person a John Hazelwood is living here also in the 1820 census but he is not on the tax list. If he is relative why would strangers adopt her?
She shows up for the first time in Lafayett Co, Mo married to Andrew Jackson Plains. There is a George Crawford who is a pastor arriving there at about the same time.
Any help very appreciated

Trying to locate the parents of Richard H. Smith b. 1821 in Ky d. 1896 in Harrison County, Ky m. 1846 to Mary Baird. Richard lived in the western part of Grant County near the Downingsville area. He may have been related to Jesse E. Smith b.1814 who married Rosey Ann Baird daughter of Thomas Baird of Grant Co. Also Harvey B. Smith and James B. Smith may have been relatives. A possible father of Richard was Jacob J. Smith who applied for a Revolutionary Pension in 1834 in Grant Co. and died there in 1837. He was born in New Jersey in 1763 then went to North Carolina where he served in the war. He married Mary "Polly" Stewart in Bourbon Co. in 1806. Hi,

I am looking for a death certificate or death date for Adam P. McKinsey (may be spelled McKenzie, etc) On the 1900 census he was living with the family of Ameede Blanchet and was working as a hired hand. He was in his mid 50's at this time. I have no record of him after that.

Adam was the son of Wharton McKinsey and Belinda Byland. Other children I would like to find information on are Lorenzo, Lewis, Christopher, Eli W., Samuel W., Eliza M., and John T. Adam is the only one I have found up to 1900.

There was an index for a land sale in 1888 from the heirs of Wharton McKinsey to Porter Vallandingham but the actual land record was not where it was indexed. It has not been located.

Thank you,

Matt McKinsey

List the surnames you are researching Vaughn, Richardson, Speagle
Comments:
Re Nancy Vaughn, b about 1830, dtr of Griffin & Sarah Vaughn; m. James H. Richardson 19 May 1851; he died 6 mos later on 25 Nov 1851; Nancy's son James H. was born 7 mos later, June 11, 1852.

I am trying to determine if this Nancy Vaughn then married Samuel Speagle sometime between 1853-1858. They appear in the 1860 census with James H., age 8, who could be Nancy's son James H. Richardson.

Nancy's dtr Laura Speagle Miller's death cert gives her mother's maiden name as Nancy Vaughn.

So what I'm looking for is a marriage record for Nancy Vaughn Richardson and Samuel Speagle. I didn't find any Speagles in the 1850 Grant census, so maybe he came from another county and they married there.

List the surnames you are researching Beverly/Thornhill
Comments:
Trying to confirm that my g-g-g-grandmother was Lucy (Leusay) Thornhill, and was the same Lucy that married Stephen Beverly ca. 1803 in either Boone or Grant counties. They lived on Ford's Mill Road 1820 and later and are buried on that property. Lucy's brothers were John and Reuben Thornhill. Thornhills also lived on Ford's Mill Road and operated a mill in that area. Would like to get in touch with any Thornhills of Grant County.

Would love any information on the Thompson family. I can only go as far as my husband's ggrandparents: Wilford and Lucenda (brown) Thompson.
With the Elliott family I can trace it as far back as Peter and Susan Applegate born approx. 1750-1780. I can not find any records that go back that far - if anyone can help me find a way to trace back further - I would really appreciate it a lot!!
