My grandfather Harles married Annie Marie Chapman, father John G. Chapman and mother Marie Walker all from Mason County West Virginia. My grandfather went by Ed most of his life. My grandmother Annie said that the Birtcher's were German and that my great grandfather spoke German and I guess she stated often "that damn german won't speak English" I guess he hated the English so hated to speak it. I did find a couple that left Bavaria in the late 1700 and entered the US through Virginia but lost the information and I can't seem to retrieve it! Now I try to print everything. Your Jesse Birtcher looks very much like my father and so do Bob and Bill Birtcher from the Illinois area. There father was Robert and grandfather was Robert. They feel they are English but it is so strange that they and my father and Jesse all look alike. Well I better let you go. If I come across any information I will let you know.
