I've been working on the family tree off and on for about nine years, but lately and since I've retired and have more time, I put all the information on Ancestry.com to get it assembled correctly.
Clyde Betsinger Goodrich was my mothers brother. His wife's name was Bertha (Bert Shetley). I remember hearing about them as a child and it is my recollection that they had no children. They did have a dog for a number of years and my mother, Freida Mae Goodrich Worden, would show me the ending of a letter here and there. They were signed "Bert, Goody and Terri". I guess my aunt Bert always called uncle Clyde "Goody" as a nickname.
At any rate, I keep looking for more information on him and many others in the family tree. If this sounds like we are researching the same person, please contact me.

Clyde was in the military, Army, I think, as a Major in rank and he served in Japan. At one point I think I believed that he died in Japan and was buried there; but I now believe that he was buried in California.

I know where my Betsinger's are. The Betsingers, I am related to are from Lansing,Iowa. Cletus Betsinger was the husband, Ellen Clancy was the mother, they had eleven children. Kenneth is a banker in Fairbalt, Minnesota,he married Pam, both are still living, they have 4 children. Kenny is the oldest.Rose Johnson Died three years ago, she was married to Clifford Johnson, they had 5 children. Lived iin St. Charles, Illinois. Donald Oscar married to Kathy, they had three children, Oscar died three years ago. Lived ini Minneapolis, Minnesota. George died two years ago, married to Cindy Backus had three children with her, she divorced him. He remarried Carol which he had one child by. Lived outside of Madison, Wisconson. William Betsinger died last week .He was married to me. We had three children, lived in St. Charles, Illinois. William died in Kenyon, Minnesota, he had been up there in a nursing home. His brother Kenny took him up there to be near him and his wife. Kenny looked very much after his brothers and sisters. Bobby has been dead the longest August, 1988. He liveed and died here in the St.Charles area. He had two children by Sandy and two children by Debbie.Mary she died last November. She lived and died here also. She has three children. Steve Betsinger lives with wife Kim in Montana. Steve has one daughter Theresa. Steve was married before to a Beverly' Theresa's mother, they lived in Lansing Iowa then. Jeff has one son Mike. Jefff is divorced. Never remarried. lives in St Charles. Patty lives in Geneva. She has three children, she married a Samuel Glen Wilson. Finally Georgia Rae Murphy lives in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She is married to Ambrose Murphy, they have three grown boys.

I have always been interested in the Betsinger family and my grandfather, William Betsinger always told me that everyone in the Betsinger family is related somehow. I created a group on Facebook called Betsinger Family Tree after I did a search on "Betsinger" and pages and pages of Betsinger's popped up. I'm hooked on learning more!

Nicholas married Mary Packard and their daughter, Harriet, married Thomas Veysey in Wisconsin. My great grandparents. I've spent the last few years trying to break the Veysey barrier. My grandfather was Byron Hezekiah Betsinger who married Beulah Parsons, they resided in Oneida, NY and had one child (my father) Jack Duane Betsinger in 1932-1987. I know Robert Betsinger was a cousin of my dads. This is very interesting.

I am tracing my family line which is Herahfield / Harshfield. I see on Ancestry. com that you entered a Frederick Hershfield line. Can you share any info about that line with me? I am trying to find where they came from in Germany , landing in Pa. in 1761. I am a GGGG granddaughter of Frederick and Abulan thru their son John. Do you know where Frederick is buried in Va.? Do you know what became of Abukan after his death? Do you know if she was with child at the time of his death? I have a Martin Harshfield that seems to just appear about 1778 on Maryland, with no mention of parents. My John and brother Henry show up in Ky in 1798 and John is married around that time, to whom I do not know. Also Martin is with them. I don't know who Johns wife is but I know she has at least 7 sons and maybe one daughter, then passes away bet. 1821 & 1835, John remarries soon after. I am Robert W Betsinger of Clinton IA. My great grandfather was Ebenezer E Betsinger born in Wampsville NY near Oneida in Madison County. He was born May 2, 1845. He was the son of John Betsinger & Mary Niemeyer. In 1864 he in enlisted in company D New York mounted rifles. He was honorably discharged from the union army on June 8th 1865. He received an injury to his right hip which he never fully recovered. In looking at civil records from Madison County New York, there were at least 2 other Betsingers that were enlisted in Company D Mounted rifles in New York. I believe the 2 were either a cousin or a brother of Ebenezer. Ebenezer's son Harrison moved to LACA in the early 1900s. I believe this is where the CA clan started. Another son Earl lived in the Chicago area and then settled in Storm Lake Iowa. Ebenezer's other son Edward was my grandfather. I did a search for Betsinger in Germany and found about 60 but were spelled Betzinger. Other names that were spelled Betzing. I never did a search in the Netherlands. Old records state that the name was "Mohawk Valley Dutch" Need photos of old family, I have them

My Greatgrandmother was Sarah Rosana Betsinger she married George Cyrus Welton in Jordan, N.Y. On 12 Nov. 1872 I have his pension papers. They had 11 children and lived in Middlebury,Wyoming Co.,N.Y. At the time of death they lived in Hornell,Steuben Co.,N.Y. They are both buried in Wyoming Cemetary. He died 4,Apr., 1914--she died 4, Apr ,1921.

My great grandmother was Elnora Betsinger (November 9, 1878 - February 19, 1959). She was the daughter of Edward Betsinger (b.1838-d.1894) and Martha Blazier. She had numerous siblings: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Oscar, Edward, John, Laura, Sarah, Martha, Jenny, Estelle, Lucy, and Melinda. She was born in Prospect, NY and is buried in the Prospect Cemetery. Regarding the children of Cletus and Ellen Betsinger (Cletus was the grandson of George according to your records). Robert Keith was the middle of the 11 children was born 6/18/44 in IA, he married "Sandy" and had Michelle Lynn (9/30/69) and Todd Michael (8/27/70). They divorced and he married Deborah Borders (7/27/54) of Missouri in January of 1974. Bob and Debbie then had Thomas Keith (2/18/75) and Jill Elizabeth (me) (5/19/78) in St. Charles, IL. My dad died in our home in Aurora, IL on August 26, 1988 from lung cancer. As for Michelle, Todd and the rest of the family I don't know much. The rest of the Betsinger family felt it was too difficult to see us after my dad died. If anyone has any info on him specifically I'd love to hear from you. He served in the Army in the early 70s but I don't know a lot about that. I was only 8 when he was diagnosed and 10 when he died so I don't have too much information. The Stanley T Emmons buried with the Betsinger's in the Glenwood Cemetery is my uncle. The story is my grandfather was a boy at the Peterboro Childrens Home and was taken by Isaac and Lena who where brother and sister to work on thier farm in Sherrill, NY. He worked for may years for them till Their death. When he was married to my grandmother
Anna Ruth they had a son that only lived a few days but had no where to bury him so Isaac and Lena had him buried on there plot. I have an aunt named after Lena who had no children of her own. Lena use to paint beautiful pictures but I don't know where any thing has gone as when they died everything was auctioned off. My grandfather always said they adopted him but their was no legal proof.
