Lottie Mae Jones, nee Matthews was grandmother to my children. She married Robert Jessie or Jesse Jones from OK City, OK about 1916 and they were on the move for work up and down the east coast and Florida. They had 22 children with 18 living for many years. They retired to Brooker, FL and stayed there until they died.

My grandfather Loe (Leon) Nicholas Mathews was born in Bolivar Missouri in 1903. I have been told that Loe's father's name is Lewis Henry Mathews and his wife's name was Nettie. The only records that I have found to date in Missouri are for Lewis Matthews who has four children born before 1901 and his wife's name is not Nettie. There have been several searches by other members of the family over the years, but none have ever gotten as far as I have. I suspect that this is the connection I'm looking for... the difference is one or two T's in the name. If lewis left his family and started another, then the time frame is right. Leo had younger siblings, but nobody knows anything about older siblings. I'm only a rookie at this geneology thing, and the information here on the NET is quite overwelming. I have been told that there is a connection with the Mathews clan in the Michigan area, but I haven't found them yet. If you can guide me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. My brick wall is Cornelius Matthews, b. 1774 in VA, d. abt. 1849 in Williamson Co., TN. I know nothing of his parents or siblings. He married Lydia Andrews on 2/25/1797 in Lunenburg Co., VA. Their son Thomas E. Matthews married Susan S. Gatlin in TN but they moved to MS between 1833-1837. Thomas died about 1842 and Susan married a Thomas Mayfield. Susan's brother was posthumously given a land grant because he died in TX's fight for independence. This is what brought my Matthews and Gatlin families to TX. It would be interesting if ours connect somewhere.
