I am an old friend of a William B. Welling III. When I knew him he went to Paschal High School, later his mother lived in Arlington, I think. He served 2 tours in Vietnam and I was just wondering if he is all right. We may not have the same person, because I'm not sure of the middle initial. I think his service in Vietnam was somewhere around 1966, 1967. To my knowledge he is thankfully not on the wall.

Interesting development. I found a Drury Grant in Madison County Illinois in 1860. He was born in N.C. He has a son named John that is 5 years old and was born in Illinois. This could be my Jurry Grant. I feel like I am talking to myself.
The problem is, that this Drury is only 40 years old in 1860. So, in 1880 he would have been 60, not 52.
I'm close, I can feel it.

I have found a Jurry Grant in Denison, Grayson County Texas, in 1880. He is living with his stepchildren John, Maria, and Vina Laster. I believe this is the father of John Henry Grant, Theopholus Grant. (Jurry may be a middle or a nickname) Jurry Grant is 52, which would be the correct age of Theopholus in 1880. He was born in N. Carolina, just as Theopholis was. This is where it gets kooky. There was a rumor that Theopholus married Nancy Lasiter, Purity Angeline Grant Lasiter's mom. Purity was he wife of John Henry Grant. The three stepchildren John, Maria, and Vina have the right ages and birthplaces to be Nancy Lasiters children. Question: Does anyone know anything about this Jurry Grant? I had info from a Jim Dawson - Brewster connection about this Whynot cemetery.... My Dad was Fred Brewster and was raised in Meridian. I always wonder what happened to his fam.... He had an aunt named Octavia who ran a ? boarding house? He also had another aunt whose name escapes me. From my meager knowledge, I do know they were from the original James Madison Brewster. Somewhere along the way the name diverged into Bruster bec there was disharmony about a second marriage.... Does this sound in any way familiar? If you descend from Andrew Jackson Perser, born 1813 in Mecklenburg County, NC and died 9/17/1862 while in Company "G", Texas Infantry, then we are related. Andrew J. had lived in Itawamba County, MS, where William John Perser was born on 12/25/1840. The family later moved to MO where Levi W. was born in 1843. From there they moved to Cass County, TX, where George Washington Perser was born on 12/23/1846.Andrew Jackson Perser was the son of Robert Purser,1780, Mecklenburg County, NC-1860 and Sarah Unity? Robert was the older brother of my great-great-great-grandfather, David Purser, 1797-1832. They are both living HOWEVER have no problem with their being included into your database. I don't know if it a rule thing with Ancestry.com, but they don't care. We have just returned from visting the gravesite of Stephen Heard Jr in Elbert, County, Georgia. Stephen Heard was one of the first Governors of the State of Georgia. He was captured by the British and rescued by his slaves Mammy Kate and Daddy Jack who are also buried nearby. The grave next to his is Elizabeth Heard whose father was a Harden. I assumed this was his wife but according to your site he was married four times and none were named Elizabeth. He died in 1815 and she in 1818. Are you directly discended from Carton J. Tannehill of Texas? If you are, I may have some documents I could send you (via email). My gr-grandmother was his elder sister. (Sarah Newton Tannehill, who married William Wyatt Smith) I have managed to locate a few items on their father, Carlton Tannehill, who migrated with his wife and 5 children from Frederick Co., MD., to St. Charles Co., Missouri, and eventually moved to Montgomery Co., MO. (just a short trip). I have been trying to locate someone (interested in genealogy) researching their younger sister, Rebecca Elizabeth Tannehill, who married into the Holland Family, but have not found anyone yet.
