My great grandfather was Philip Henry Rosser (b. 1841 -d. 1906) son of John Rosser and Elizabeth Jenkins. I find him in the 1841 census in Monmouthshire. I know he came to US about 1884. I think (from the 1841 census) that he had a brother James. Would love to share

My ggGrandmother is Martha Ann Rosser, born in Virginia and married to James M Armstrong, also born in Virginia. He was a physician fresh out of school and served in the civil war, I believe they married 1865-ish. Martha Ann Rosser Born 8-7-1845, D. 12-20-1930. I have hit a brick wall on both of their parents, I believe hers were born in Virginia. (James father born in Ireland, census doesn't say where his mother was born#. Can you help me? I have pictures of their daughter Mary #Armstrong# McRae my gGrandmother. I also have pictures of Martha Ann #Rosser# Armstrong tombstone in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
After James served in the civil war they moved to Missouri. They had only 1 child as far as I know #Mary, my gGrandmother). When she grew up she married my gGrandfather Dr. James Porter McRae. They moved to Oklahoma, Martha & J. Armstrong moved there too, I'm not yet sure exactly when. Martha & Dr. J Armstrong both lived in the Confederate Soldiers Home in Ardmore, OK, (I'm not sure at what point this occured). This is where they lived until they died. They are both buried in the confederate portion of Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore, OK. His stone is abbreviated *Jas* M Armstrong, but I'm sure it is him because the military information on the stone matches that which I have found on the net. She is buried beside him, her maiden name carved on her stone. I hope you can help me with some information on her. I have just started doing the genealogy and I'm afraid I'm not to good at it yet. Thanks

Name: Diana Case <RootsInspector@aol.com> Date: 2005-04-28 How I found this page Search Engine Earliest Known Ancestor Isham Rosser, born after 1740. Comments:
Isham Rosser was born in Virginia or North Carolina after 1740. He died about 1813 in Halifax County, North Carolina. From one of our source documents: "we know that he descends from the Virginia family . . ."
He married Elizabeth (possibly Flewellen) Unknown. Children were Benjamin "Jemin," Joel, Denny Flewellen, and Jemima. The children were born in the 1760s.
A group of cousins, descending from Isham, have worked together for some time, but he is still our "brick wall." We'd love some help. Might a DNA project help us to connect the lines?
I will add the lineage from Isham to me, later.
