Thank you so much for the history you have collected about
Cal Deshields and his rock fences. We last year brought a small peice of land because of it's amazing fence....I was delighted to learn who I could give credit to.We will preserve and love our old fence.

A very nice site, my family lived on a tract of land on Crooked Creek, abt. 6 miles southeast of the town of Harrison. This
was in 1857, they moved from Tennessee. It is said that
my grgrgrandfather built on his land, a family home, a school house called Shady Grove, & the first teacher was David Mann. It is also reported by family, that he built (a)
the first Baptist Church in Boone County.? This was all on
his land. His name was Maples Long there is a "Long"
cemetery on the old home site still to this day, well taken care of. I just was seeing if I could find out anything on your site
about my family. Thank You

I am desiigning a web page (with my grandmother) for my grandfather, Philip C. Gossett, Sr., born in South Carolina in 1914 and died in North Carolina in 1962. He was a great, brave hero during WW2, on the aircraft carrier USS San Jacinto (CVL-30) and fought in most of the battles in the Pacific theatre. His parents were friends with Admiral "Bull" Halsey, who was commander of the 5th Fleet, and his ship was in that fleet. His father was a graduate of the Naval Academy, his brother, James Pleasant Gossett, was a judge in Idaho and a graduate of Yale university. My grandfather loved the state of North Carolina, and chose to attend university there. (My brother, JonRex Gossett Nelson) is a fanatic for that school because of that. Please look for the web page for Philip Gossett. I hope to share all my grandmother tells me about the remarkable family she married into in the middle of the last century. I hope I can bring these people alive for you the way she does for me. P.S., I forgot to mention that Judge James P. Gossett was a war hero, too, but he served as an enlisted man in Europe. They also had a beautiful sister, Katherine, who raised 4 wonderful children in Charlotte.

Thank you for a good site. None of my Harris line found at this time, so will tell a little about it.

James Harris was born Aug 24, 1759 and died Sep 29, 1830 in Franklin Co. TN. Buried in Old Beans Creek Cemetery there. He was first child of Samuel and Rebecca Morrison Harris. He married Susannah Gass Dec 1, 1790 in Madison Co,. KY.

Their issue: Sarah, Rebecca, Samuel, Marthy, Mary, David G., Rhoda, Susannah and James B. Harris. All were born in Ky except James B. (born 1809 TN).

Samuel married Jane B. Smith 1829 in Maury Co., TN. He was a Cumberland Presbyterian minister in Washington Co. AR in the 1840s; then to Cherokee Co., TX.

David G. (Gass) was in home of parents on 1820 Census (Franklin Co., TN); then a land patent was issued to him in Washington Co., AR (Cert #4670 dated 29 Jul 1848). From James B's patents he may have sold prior to this date. This is all I have found on him - would like to know when he sold, and if he was married at the time, wife's name.

James B (Bright) married Clementine G. Smith in Madison Co., AL 1835. He also patented land in AR - Benton and Johnson Counties - in the 1840s. He was a Cumberland Presbyterian minister in AR, and is mentioned in Benton Co. He was also in Washington Co. before in TX in Cherokee and Bell Counties.

I have found nothing on any of the daughters.

Thanks for any assistance, and God Bless.

Ann Gary

My parents Johnnie Esther Carter and Ancil Huber Davis graduated from Lead Hill and are in the 1932 High school photo. My mom has that same picture and it might be clearer than the one on the website. Mom also has several other photos of classes and classmates taken during that time frame and I would be glad to scan them and send to the website.

Mom had her 90th birthday last November and has lived with us for about 2 years - she enjoyed looking at the website, thanks for all your efforts.

Hi Everyone, sorry it has taken us so long to add more to the website. We still have lots of stuff to go on. However, Tonya is still not healthy. The doctors took her off work for 90 days to see if stress was a factor in her stomach illness but it really didn't help except for her to become more rested since she could sleep when she needed to.

We haven't forgotten the sight, Tonya just recently added the Peel Post Office Money Order Book Transcription 1901-1912 by Jane Wilkerson. We will add more later as Tonya can manage it. She has still been so sick even when she was off 90 days she did not have the energy to work on the website which is one of her loves.

Keep her in your prayers. Let us know on the Guestbook if you are looking for something.

Reta

I did enjoy the photos. I did, however, notice that several are beginning to show fading and deterioration. These can be restored to the original condition by someone who has Photoshop or perhaps Photoshop Elements. Contact me privataly if you don't locate someone and I might be able to help you. I have done several for the Vaughan Pioneers, ask Eddie Davis about me. This will help keep from losing a wealth of history.

We are related thru the Greene family, and DeShields..my grandmother was Dovie Hannah Green Parsley, and Minnie Mae DeShields was married to my grandfather Frank Wilmoth. We moved to Washington state in 1956....Anyone with information on any of these people, or remembers my family, please contact me. Thanks a bunch Reta and Tonya.

Thanks for the site! I am looking for any info re James Butts TATE and his wife, Callie Hart Cordell (Tate), who lived in Harrison, Ar. from at least 1934 until 1938. They had a farm, bought by his brother, Benjamin Edward Tate of St. Louis. The 60 acre farm (bought in 1934) was 3 miles north of Harrison fronting Hwy 65. Will appreciate hearing any info re when they died, were buried, etc. I noticed the BURIAL CARDS showed a CC TATE listed in ST JOE in 1947, but that is info I am not familiar with. They had a grandson, named Bobby Tate, attending school in area of Harrison in 1938. Also, their SON, James Robert Tate (b.1890), who farmed with them in 1938.

Hi Everyone, I thought I would let you know what is going on on the sight. We have tons of stuff to go on, however, Tonya is in the hospital. She has been very ill. She has been in sevier pain since August 5, 2003. Everyone says it is her gallblatter, but no one wants to take it out. I am really fed up with doctors right now, but I won't go into that here.

Anyway, we will be adding lots more soon as she gets to feeling better. Keep her in your prayers. She is so sick she doesn't even play on the computer, and for those of you who knows Tonya, that is very sick. Keep her in your prayers.

I was researching my G-G-G-Grandfather and his 2 brothers and came across your site. They were all 3 in the same unit in the Civil War and all were captured at the battle of Resaca right below where I live. They were sent to Alton prison in IL. I saw you had several listings for Roe, but could not access them. I am looking for any and all records you have on them.

Hi, my family is the Green Berry Parker's that lived around Crooked Creek. Alot of them are buried in the Rogers Cemetery. My grandmother was G.B.'s grand daughter, Velma Blanche Parker. My great grandmother was Clara Parker. She was born in 1881 and married John Manley Mathis in 1898 in Harrison, AR. She was living in Western Grove, Newton county at the time. She was 17 and listed no parents or guardians. l don't think she is related to my grandmother's Parker's. If you ever run across any info about her, please let me know. I like your web site and will visit it often. Keep up the good work. Best regards.

Hello, I am married to a descendant of Jesse E. Casey, whom I noted was an elder of this church from approximately 1847-1851. I read somewhere that he was pastor during those times...is there any way to confirm this? Are there any photos, drawing, sermons, etc,.which would concern him? Any help would be appreciated. At least two of his descendants were also churchmen, my husband's great grandfather, and his father.

Thanks!

I certainly shall return. Marvelous site for me. My GG Grandfather (maybe one more G) was David Nichols/wife Keziah Brooks, the "hardshell Baptist preacher." Enjoyed the Crooked Creek Church records. Am 99% sure the "Horton Eoff" shown in the 1920 Union School picture is my father, James Horton Eoff, son of W.E. Eoff & Leslie. If you can direct me to any more information on the Nichols and Eoffs, I'd be happy to have it. Meanwhile, I will be back to your website.
