Looking for information on the families of James and William Owens - brothers who moved from Chester Co., South Carolina about 1860. James was killed in the Civil War and William probably died before 1870. William was married in Chester to Cicily Orr. Have not located either in Arkansas Census. They had 2 daughters: Elizabeth Owens b. January 1862 and Mary Owens b. ca. 1868. Elizabeth married John Nicholas Jacks and lived in Lincoln Co through 1900. John listed as a widow in 1910 Cleveland Co. Census. Mary married W. H. Ballard. Have not been able to locate.

James Owens was married to ? and had a daughter Chester born ca. 1860 - 1864. In Chester Co., SC court records her husband was listed as T. L. Pertuis and in one place as T. L. Perkins. Have not been able to locate this family either. I will share information on the South Carolina side of this family with anyone who has information on them in Arkansas.

PALMYRAS USA WRITER'S NEWS

After forty-five years, midwest author & economist John Claude Redfern of Palmyra, IL in Macoupin County returned to France for a family reunion. In 1958, John along with his sister and his brother were adopted by rural adoptive parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Redfern of Palmyra, IL in Macoupin County. Recently, his nephew visited the St. John Foundation orphanage in France. Then, the directors of the orphanage located John's natural mother Georgette Huth. During March 6-12, John made a tour of the countries of Germany, France, Belgium, Luxemburg, and Netherlands. John gain valuable insights about historical development in these countries. John met Georgette in Metz, France meeting her family later in their village home. In mid-March, John returned home to central Illinois. John has become a prominent writer through his publishing entrepreneurship S.B.C.A.P. John is working, writing and publishing his sixth international publication, Palmyras USA, for its public release in late fall, 2003. The historic book is a microcosm of Main Street America. The book has a chapter about each of the toured Palmyras giving a narrative, socioeconomic perspective about their history & their future. The conclusion details the truths about sustainable development and the reform recommendations needed for progressive development in Main Street America. John has traveled throughout the country touring main street communities. He spoke at the meetings of city councils, historical societies, and public assemblies. The grand tour has included sixteen of the Palmyras in the country. Currently, John is planning main street tours of Palmyra, AK, Palmyra, NY and Palmyra, NC. John received honorariums including the keys, the caps, and the plaques of main street communities. John received extensive coverage from the mass media including the regional television stations. John's latest book, The New Wave Millennium, Rural Economies, and Human Rights, demonstrated that the damage done by modernization is curtailed using an alternative model for sustainable development in Main Street America. John's books in The New Wave series have received rave reviews, especially from his mentors, historians & economists. John's three masters including a Master of Economics. His web sites detail his French-American autobiography, the rave reviews for his publications, and the mainstream media coverage in the photos albums, http://palmyrausa.bravepages.com or http://mainstreet.cyberbree.com. John can be reached at S.B.C.A.P., P.O. Box 137, Palmyra, IL 62674,Ph 217-436-2264, CP 217-725-1038 & JCRedfern@aol.com.

Hello..
This is to those cousins who are reading...
Located Bolin Green BAILEY as an infant/1year old in Blount County, AL..1860 census. His parents were James M. BAILEY and Eliza. Had one older brother, John C. Bailey born circa 1856...B.G. was born 1859. Around 1865 a daughter was born to this family, Luscinda BAILEY.. and they came to Arkansas shortly after that settling in Drew County, they are on the 1870 census for Drew. Sometime in the early 1870's Eliza died...maybe childbirth..don't know...but James M. Bailey remarries a widow with several children living in the same county...Mary Tidwell. In 1878 Bolin Green (B.G.) marries his step-sister, Nancy E. Tidwell, in Lincoln county. They settle in Little Garnett. In 1880 census records, James M (recorder has N) BAILEY is in LIncoln county too, Cane Creek area. Just thought I would pass along these findings... Still searching for exact marriage of James and Eliza in Georgia. And looking for any pictures or interesting facts on B.G. and Nancy...Talk later, Tricia
