Ireland Census of Ireland 1911 shows My Grandfather (Christopher) Grandmother (Ellen) my father (Richard) age 10years and his younger sister (Ellen) age two. All lived at 24 Washbrew Lane (Cork No. 4, Urban(part of) Cork. Richard moved to Folkestone Kent UK,was stationed in Shorncliffe Barracks, Folkestone, Kent. where he met and married my Mother Mary Clark. In WW2 he was injured in Dunkirk, came back to England was hospitalized, my story ends there I believe he was in the Royal ArtilleryPrevious to joing the Army he supposedly ferried horses accross the channel to france. At 82 yrs all I want now is to know where my Father is buried in England. Thank you for this sight, I'm sure it has helped to connect many families to their past. C M. Lee (nee Morgan)

The only link with my Morgan Family comes from 1911 census of Ireland. My grandfather Christopher was 33 yrs old, Grandmother 32 yrs. My Father, Richard (Mick) Morgan age 10, his sister Ellen age two. Richard went to live in Folkestone Kent where he met Mary Elizabeth Clark and they got married in the District of Elham Kent.England.My sister Margaret and I were born of that marriage. Sometime in the mid thirties my father was called up to the Army, my sister and I wound up in a Convent to be cared for. The only news I ever had was that he was wounded in Dunkirk but made it back to England and medical care. Which hospital I do not know. No one on my Mother's side ever wanted to talk about him or her. Having tried the Ancestry route and getting no where, I hope there is a Morgan out there who may have a clue. :)

I'm looking for John M Morgan. He married Nancy Beene in 1844 in Itawamba County, MS. They had 3 children: William Beene Morgan, Martha Jane Morgan, and another girl. Martha Jane married William Jasper Thomas and they lived in Claiborne Parish, LA. Nancy Beene was listed as a widow in the 1850 census owning a plantation in Claiborne Parish. Her brother Obediah Beene came to help her run the plantation after John's death. My grandmother, Etta Mae Thomas was the daughter of Martha Jane Morgan Thomas. She said she had an uncle or great uncle who was a general in the civil war. Said he didn't win any great battles and mostly retreated. I can't find anything on John M. Morgan. Thought if I could find a link to the general it would unlock much more data. There were also several doctors in the line that also served as doctors in the civil war.

Hello, I'm looking for information about my 3rd great grandfather, William J. Morgan, who was born in PA in 1844. I'm unsure of who his first marriage was to, but it resulted in many sons - Frank, Walter, Alex, Eugene, Edward, and David. In 1884 he married my 3rd great grandmother, Mary M. Dunn Wilt. This was also her second marriage. They had one child together, my great great grandfather, Raymond Frederick Morgan (1886-1938). William died between 1900-1910, I believe. Any information would be very helpful! Thank you.

Hello; I am looking for family history as well. My father is from Oklahoma. His parents were William Morgan and Lou Etta Smith Morgan. They had moved to OK from Kansas. William's parents were William M. Morgan and Martha A. Sackett Morgan. They had lived in Kansas and were married in McLean County, Illinois. I have information on her Sackett family but am lost on the Morgan side. Some notes say this William M. Morgan was born around 1835 in Pennsylvania (Harrisburg or maybe Deleware County). Some records show his parents as James P. or Perry and Nancy Morgan. I can not find anything concrete though. I found another family William Morgan and Mary Tankert Morgan both from Ireland who also had a son William born in Pennsylvania in 1835 or 1836. This family later had a child born in Ohio, and a few born in Indiana which looks like the family was traveling westward. Both William and Mary Morgan died in Indiana, but their younger son Alexander also was in Illinois then went on to live in Iowa where he died. I'm trying to research both branches of the families because I do believe that one of them has got to be the my next generation in my research. It is always fun when I find a few pieces of new information in my research. One day I will know where our family came from.

Lewis. H. Morgan (1915 KY) is my husband’s gggrandfather as shown below. We would love to find any further information on him or either of his wives before their marriages. We are curious as to why they left Iowa, as they seemed to have a pretty good life there. We know the oldest daughter of Lewis and Mary, Hulda, was married to R.E. Train in Iowa and we believe they did not join the family in Oregon. R.E. Train is cited as a co-founder of Morgan Township, Franklin County, Iowa, along with L.H. Morgan for whom the township was named.

Abbreviated Family Tree:
Lewis. H. Morgan, b. 1815, KY. Married Sarah Mason(1), Mary Mitchell(2). Daughter Melissa (b. 1842) from first marriage was deaf. Moved from Illinois to Iowa in 1855-56. This date corresponds with the opening of the Iowa School for the Deaf and wonder if there is a connection. Emigrated to OR 1864. Daughter Martha married John. O. Miller, 1865 in OR. Daughter Rosina Miller (b. 1890 and the youngest child) married D.Gordon McDonald (1921), son Gordon D. McDonald was my husband's father.

We know the family left Iowa in 1864 by covered wagon bound for Oregon. They settled in Yamhill county. Rosina grew up on a farm not far from her grandparents. She lived to 100 and her mind was sharp as a tack to the end. She shared much about her life on the farm, but not about her family. We have gathered a fair amount of information on the children of Lewis and Sarah(1) and Mary(2). Many of them are buried in a pioneer cemetery (no longer in use and hard to find) near McMinnville in Yamhill county.

We thank you for anything you can add to the story and are more than happy to share what we know.

I'm looking for the father of James Jackson Morgan of Carroll Co. TN. In the 1850 census James J and his 2 brothers were shown living with their mother Delilah but no mention is found as to who the father is. George A. Morgan, son of James J. was my great-grandfather. I believe Delilah and her Morgan husband were from N.C.
If anyone has a clue on this I'd love to hear from you. I know these people didn't just appear out of nowhere - there has to be a father out there somewhere.!!!

Loved reading about all the Morgans who signed in.
My father, Charlie Emery Morgan,is descended from Morgans who migrated from Ireland to horse farms in Kentucky. They were blacksmiths and gunsmiths whose passage was paid, and specifically chosen. My father's father was a telegrapher for the railroad. His name Ocie Emery Morgan. He had two brothers--Willis Morgan & Charlie Morgan (after whom my father was named) who was a WWI vet and blacksmith in Avery, TX. Ocie's mother was buried in Sweetwater, TX next to a great grandchild, Janice Marie Morgan. I don't know much but my father, 92 is still living. He had two sons, Michael and John Patrick, now deceased. Mike had two sons,Charles Michael and Steven Scott. John Pat's son is James Patrick. Dad's brother, Robert L. Morgan is still living and is in California, as is his son, a stamp and gun collector, Ronald Robert Morgan, and his son Jason Lea Morgan was a blacksmith and ferrier. Lots of Morgans here would love to know more.

I am searching for any information about my grandfather, Luther Morgan.
He was born on August 6, 1904 in Marion (McDowell County) NC.
I just found this information on his death cert. There were no parents listed on this cert.

We believe that his father and mother may have been John and Matilda. I have found a John T. Morgan and Matilda McKnight married July 4, 1858 in Ashe County NC, but the year does not quite seem right for the birth of the two son’s Thomas and Luther.

I have been told that his father worked in the railroad station and was killed in the early 1900’s, may have been killed in the roundhouse by a train.

He had a brother named Thomas born in 1894, date and place unknown possibly in NC.

Their mother may have remarried a man named Albert S. Frick. I have found a marriage record of Matilda Morgan and Albert S. Frick on June 19, 1907 in Leavenworth County, Kansas. This would have been when Luther was 3 years old.

Their mother may have put them into an orphanage in NC, after their father was killed, have been told that the boys ran away from the orphanage. Do not have the name of the orphanage or the place.

Luther married Lue Ellen Brisco (b-12-30-1897) in Angleton Texas on December 22, 1920.
Edward (my father), b- 3 Oct 1923 d- 23 June 1999
Leola Ruth b- 11 Nov 1925
Mary Ethel, b- 9 Jan 1928
Lue Ellen, b-4 Oct 1929 d-
Della b- 2 Sept 1931

Luther died Oct 16, 1941 in Galveston Texas and is buried in the Old Hitchcock Cemetery in Hitchcock TX.. This is about all the information I know and would love any help that is out there.

Thank you,
Annie Morgan Morts

Hi there:

I have Morgan's on my Miller side of the family. My great grandmother was born in 1813, I believe in Tennessee. She was named Mary Morgan. Her father was named Joshua Morgan, her uncle (her father's brother) was named John Morgan.

Mary's side of the family through her father was said to be both Cherokee. (although for the last 70 years we thought we were Pawnee or Choctaw) There is documented evidence that she was denied her Dawes enrollment or at least her son was denied enrollment.

For some reason they have her name during that time as Mary K. Bennett... perhaps she had a first marriage before she married John H. Miller. (my great grandfather) Her rejection with Dawes is out of Paoli, OK... and dated Sept 6, 1908. She was already dead in the mid-1800's... so I think it was her son they denied in 1906 by looking up her records.

If any of this rings a bell to you Morgans... I would be thrilled if you would email me. I am always looking for more links to the Morgan side of our family. I am mostly looking for lost links on our Indian blood line. It is easy to find the European family members... but the Jewish or Indian bloodline seemed to have gotten swept under the rug.
I also have the medium European complexion and have the skin condition Rosacea... the blotchy red skin that so many Irish, Scottish and English folks have. So, proving the Irish blood is a no brainer. We also have freckles, some have lots... I didn't get them... and we have red highlights in our hair even if we are blonde. Strawberry blondes & freckles abound in our line.

Mary's son Joshua Morgan tried to prove his Indian ancestry... but it was not successful. Someday I'll do the blood test, to double check on "whats in there". I have English, Irish, Scottish, Polish / Russian, Swedish, Norwegian, Swiss, Mexican and Cherokee. There is also some French... oh boy, we got a lot of ancestry in our family tree. There is more but it gets wild trying to list it all.

I'm a worship leader and my favorite style of music has these similar style or rhytmic beats: Celtic, Native American & Jewish. I like drums, bagpipes, flutes and other ethnic instruments weaved into contemporary styled worship songs. It is no coincidence... that is my primary bloodline. A combination of European and Native American.

Blessings to you Morgans... hopefully you might have some missing links to my family tree. To start on finding Mary Morgan... my grandfather father is listed as Kenneth Dee Miller out of Indian Territory, OK. They were all over TN, OK, AK, and TX. I am going to go back to the Trail of Tears area once I get more info on the family line. Once Grandpa Miller came to CA... they settled in Whittier, CA and his son, my father was also named Kenneth Dee Miller, or K.D. Miller as we called him.

Blessings,

Lisa Simon

Hello, I am hitting brick walls left and right with my Morgan ancestors.

Here's what I know: my grandfather was Clayton Daniel Morgan 1930-2008. His father was Iddo Otis Morgan 1903-1967. Iddo's father was James Ladrick Morgan 1872-1953. All of these are buried here in my home community in Washington Parish, Louisiana. Here's my snag: There were two James L. Morgans within two parishes of Louisiana and they were both born between 1872 and 1875.

One was the son of James P. Morgan 1853-1920 and Selena E. Lewis , whose father was some kind of high roller in Baton Rouge before the Civil War. The other was son of William Morgan b. 1848 and Hannah b. 1844

Does anyone know anything that may help? I would really like to give this history as a gift to my family but I cannot find anything.

If you really want to know if your male ancestors were Morgan's and where the came from have DNA tests done and that will prove your linage and maybe lucky enough to match some others proving your line back further.

I am a Modern Robert John Smith Morgan. My people came from Wales to Newfounland, Canada and then to settle in Toronto, Ontario. I have read numerous sites regarding the name "Morgan" Each author has their own explanation and conclusion. I do know however that my name is correct according to old Welsh tradition combined with modern surname adaptation. My father was John which is the tradition, hence, Robert John. My mother's maiden name was Smith, hence the modern combination of old and new traditions. Thanks for the Family crest info and picture.

Great looking site and very functional! Good Job!

I am looking for information relating to my GGGGreat Grandmother Mary Morgan. She married Unknown Beard. She and her husband lived in Devonshire England at least for a time. She was born ca 1802. She mothered Thomas Beard born 13 Oct 1827, Henry (Harry) born 23 Dec 1829, possibly George born ca 1827, Mary Jane born ca 1840 and Edwin born ca 1841. Harry's death certificate says she was born in England. I am guessing her husband's first name must have been Thomas, Henry, William or Charles. Likely one of these given names was her father's. There was a history of carpentry and particularly furniture building amongst the males of the family though Harry was a bookbinder and Edwin a printer. The earliest confirmation I have of her presence in the US is in the city of Hudson,St Croix County, Wisconsin. She was reported as a charter member of the St Paul's Episcopal Church in said location. Her son Harry built the church constructed ca 1883. Her death date and location are unknown to me at this time.
Thanks for your help in advance.

My husband's family originated when Johnty M. Morgan came from Pennsylvania to Virginia right after the Revolutionary War. He lived there until his family was nearly grown and then moved them to the Piedmont of N.C., Va., and Ky. Johnty settled in Burke County. His baby son Permentor, married Mary Burke. He later gave land for "Burke County" and a town called Morgan Town which is now known as Morganton. From this family of 13 children - 8 boys and 5 girls - was my husband's great, great grandfather, Jesse T. Morgan. Whitfield Morgan, a brother to Jesse, and Jesse both served in the Civil War. Whitfield was killed just outside of Asheville. Both brothers had moved to the Hominy Valley section of Asheville prior to Civil War. After the war, a Mr. Peabody, a northern, left money to build schools for the children of Appalachia. A school - Peabody School, was built in northern Buncombe County near Ivey Hill. Jesse T. moved his family there so his children could get an education. One of his sons, Sumpter Morgan, was my husband's grandfather. I have tried to locate info on Johnty M. Morgan but have been unable to do so. I thought you might could use this information for other Morgan genelogy. Thank you, M. Morgan
