I have an ancestor, Great Grand mother Ellen McGuire born in 1835, who married in New York July 13, 1853, Jeffery Gibbons was born in 1828, County Mayo, Ireland. Ellen was from County Cork, Ireland. They lived in Minonk, Illinois for a while before moving and settling near Kearney, Nebraska.

Was wandering on the Barren County website and found this page. Hope someone can enlighten me on why you have a photograph of Mike and Mary McGuire's tombstone at Poplar Log Cemetery. father, ALEXANDER MADISON SILVEY. He was born in TN, 1823
and was murdered 3 June 1866. He was buried 4 June 1866 in
the Totty Cemetery, Hydro, Warren County, KY. He was killed at the Lewis D. Shobe Store, Hydro, KY. The store was managed by George Tabor. Totty Cemetery is located two
tenths of a mile north of Shobe Store, at the intersection of KY Highway 1297 and Lawrence Road.
Who murdered him? Why? How was he killed? Was there any
newspaper articles about his murder? Help me solve this,

Recent DNA results suggest that John McGuire (father of Joseph McGuire) was a grandson of the Francis McGuire who purchased land in 1773 Pittsylvania Co. Va. Francis' land was just 8 miles from the the 1790s home of John McGuire's mother, Sarah McGuire Sloan. My McGuire line goes through Kentucky to northern Indiana. It's interesting that a William McGuire here is shown going to Peru, IN durng the late 1800's. Nathaniel McGuire and his wife Nancy Sanders moved there in about 1840. Nathaniel was born in Frankfort, KY, 1797, and first married Elizabeth Chadwell, Henry Co., KY, in 1820.

I am doing research for a friend. Found a death certificate for Sarah C. McGuire Gibbons Mosier. Father listed as Billie McGuire, mother unknown. Friend is Carolyn Gibbons Harmon. Sarah was married to John Henry Gibbons and when he died in 1914, went by Cathern and married William Mosier in 1915. Died in 1935 and was burried next to John. My father is Robert Lofton McGuire born in 1937 in Dallas Texas. On birth certificate, just as baby McGuire. His parents were Mary Rebecca Asbill and Richard McGuire. When Mary was married 6 months, she left Richard and never spoke to him again. Richard was married before and had several (maybe 7 or more) children before. Last we knew, he was in Idaho and had a brother Clarence. I don't think he ever knew he had a son. I am trying to trace our roots. If any of this sounds familiar, please let me know. I am interesed in the McGuire family. My Great great grandmother was Isabella McGuire from Armah Ireland. Around 1842 she married Robert Barbour. They lived in Clay County Mo. They had eight children, their daughter Emma Belle Barbour was my greatgrandmother. Sometimes Isabella spelled her last name as Maguire.

My sister found your website. It is very impressive, and it appears my ch work and care went into it.
Possibly someone could check to see if my family of "McGuire" in some way is related to your McGuire tree. I will give you a small bit of info.
Supposedly my great-grandfather, poss. name "joe/Jo" ?, came from England back around the 1880's, ?, I really do not know much about him. He had several chilldren, one named Herbert H. McGuire, all I know is he had a brother Wilbert McGuire who ran a shoe store for many years in Brimfield, Illinois. My grandfather Herbert was from the Brimfield, IL area, his son and my father Lewis H. McGuire was born in Brimfield (Peoria IL- area) Herbert and my father Lew moved around alot, never found out this reason, Lew married my mother Carol Ann Dougherty, my mother's Dougherty side began in Georgia and also traveled around the USA, reasons unknown to me. I believe my grandfather Herbert H. McGuire was married early on to a Mae (Thompson) McGuire and lived in Brimfield area, but believe they possibly divorced at one time and my grandfather Herbert moved to Multnomah, Oregon, where it seems the Dougherty/McGurie family sprouted from there (1945 - pres.)...
Someone told us our Gr-Grandmother was Chippawa(Sp.?)Indian name, ? Willie Cohorn. this was on our Mother's side of Dougherty. The Dougherty side also had last names of : Howard (Homer, Caroline..); Cox (Lena), I will stop at that side.
There were 9 of us kids born to Lewis H. McGuire and Carol Ann (Dougherty) McGuire beginning around 1949 - 1968. We have only one brother (Lewis H. McGuire, Jr.) who might have been given up for adoption or foster care, bon 1-03-1953 in Peoria, Illoinois. We have been searching for him for 20 years without one link.
I've taken up alot of your time and I thank you for reading this and possibly seeing if all of us might be related aloong some line.
