Hey Gregg,

Great reseach!

My grandmother is a Lentz, Grace Olive Lentz, and I canít find much information on her and was wonder if you might have some Lentz history that may help.

As mentioned her birth name is Grace Olive Lentz born in Jefferson County, Kentucky (Apr 2, 1906 - Dec 30, 1993); no siblings. Her motherís name was Olive Edna, and I have zero info on her father Lentz.

She was raised by her aunt and uncle Cecil Samuel Wray (Feb 1859, Tennessee) and Grace G (Edna) Wray (1870, Indiana).

I know itís a shot in the dark but what the heck.

Thank you very much.
John Gadberry

Tamar (Tamer?) Colclough my GG-grandmother. Born:June 10, 1831, in Staffordshire, England. Died April 18, 1911, in Toronto, Jefferson Co.,Ohio. Married George Hirst
I have her death certificate. Father is Wm Cokeley? Mother is Jennie Burstin?. Both born in England.
I'm trying to find additional information about her and also her husband, George Hirst. They lived in Union Co, KY until 1870, then I find her living in Ohio with her daughter and Tamar is listed as a widow on the 1880 census. I think George Hirst was a coal miner & may have died in a coal mine accident. I can't find a trace of him after the 1870 census. I would like to find how he died and when. I've checked for death certificate in Kentucky, but had no luck. If anyone could give me some information, it would be very much appreciated.

Hi Gregg,

You may remember we corresponded (by email) a few years ago about the Bonner-McGee families of Jones Co Ga. I claim Josiah McGee (b. abt 1777, Md.) as a G/G/G Grandfather.

I noticed your comments here at this site about Thomas G. Lemaster (b. 1833, Ga) who is someone I incidentally searched while trying to determine the origins of Bennet Lemaster(see 1850 Randolph Co Al).

You might be interested to know I found 77 year old Thomas G. Lemaster listed in the house of his nephew Hardy Bennett Jones in 1910 in Navajo, Jackson Co. Oklahoma. Also, according to his Civil War soldier pension application in Al. Thomas was born in Habersham Co Ga.

I hope this info. is of use to you. LJD

I am interested in your Nash & Harris questions. Your info:
{Deed Book "EE", Page 340 - 1 Nov 1828} William Frizzell and Nathan Frizell to Hiram HARRIS, all of Bedford Co., TN, land in Bedford Co., adjoining the lands of Worke, Springer, Volney Steele, and Peter Rushing. 104 acres. Wit: William Carter and P. C. Steele. Reg: 12 Aug 1835. [Land Deed Genealogy of Bedford County Tennessee 1807 - 1852, Page 198; Compiled by Marsh & Marsh.]
This Hiram Harris would be ours. He married Jane Porter Johnson b. 1807. They died in Marshall TN (formed from Bedford). We also have Nash connections with the same Johnson family.
Elizabeth Nash (daughter of Travis Coleman Nash)married Levi C Johnson b. 1811. Levi C Johnson & Jane Porter Johnson were siblings. One Bonner middle name in our connecting Thornton family which could have come from the Allen family marriage in Fayette Co TN? Inlaws to our Johnsons. I will see if I can find your Harris & Nash.

The family mentioned was my husband's great grandfather, Benjamin Forror Cocke and his wife Hettie Florence Nipp. She asked if you had anymore info on Hettie's family. I've searched your site, but I can't seem to find any more info on this family. I'm curious if you were able to help Allison out any. By the way, she is my husband's first cousin, but he hasn't had contact with her in several years. Thanks for any help you might be able to give.

Peggy

I also was not aware of the alternate spellings of the surname. My info was left by a great aunt who was the family genealogist in the early 1900s. Luckily her info came to me.

Hi Gregg! I descend from Kincheon's daughter, Melzira (misspelled everywhere) Tucker who married J.B. Fowler b. l829. In l870, the census says she was black; my great uncle (their g-grandson) has first cousins whose aunt and uncle are light/blonde and they had 6 children, 4 of which were black. I found some pictures of one of them which brought the subject up. Melzira wasn't described as black until l870. Do you have any knowledge of this? (I'm white and curious where this gene went). I am seeking the lineage of the BOWLING Family. My George William BOWLING was b. 1804 at Carrolton, Kentucky and married Catharine Wilkins MINISH January 19, 1832. George was the son of John O. BOWLING and Catherine DAUGHTERY. John's second wife was Nancy WYATT. John died ca 1830 in Gallatin County, Kentucky. We think he was the son of William BOWLING and a Margaret or the son of Sims BOWLING.Possibly born in 1750 but not for sure where

In your Colclough information I have found a Sims BOWLING, through Elizabeth COLCLOUGH and her spouse William BOWLING. They also had a son named Alexander BOWLING, b. ca 1748. In your notes you had indicated that Sims may not be the correct first name, that his name was Simon BOWLING. If you have any information on the BOWLINGS, I would appreciate hearing from you. My grandmother always said that our BOWLING line had descended from Pocahontas -- but I seriously doubt it unless there is some link thru Elizabeth Colclough's husband, William.
Thank you.

Hi Gregg: the Pickle Clan info, I have written when I signed the Guestbook. I did find one small error in the number of children that Greatgrandpa Pickle had, and I can't remember if it was the first set or the second set. The next time we are at Round Hill, I'll look it up. Charles (Buddy)---youngest son of Uncle Sam--- and I found the marker on the back side of the Cemetery at the funeral of his brother Richard. The marker does not have a name on it, only a date. We had always been told that there was another one, but we couldn't find it. By this time, all my great-aunts & great-uncles were deceased and none of the second cousins had any info.

She was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Knowles and Missouri Carolina Knowles. She was born in Murchison,TX. She married Homer J. Walker in 1927, and they lived in Texarkana, Arkansas. I am the only child of Oma Knowles and Homer J. Walker. I hope that you can correct these errors.

Hi, I am descended from Willis Bonner who was born in Germany about 1740.According to my document, he fought in the Revolutionary Was at the Battle of Bunker hill. He and his wife came to Pennsylvania about 1765.I know nothing of his other children, except for his descendant named Moses Jones Bonner who was born in Pennsylvania in 1777. He was married about the year of 1800 to a "Miss Smith" of English and Welsh descent. They raised 6 boys and 6 girls who I have more information on if there is interest. I am interested in exchanging information. Please let me know how I may go about it. Thanks so much for your site.

In my great-uncle's book _A Study of the West-Hopper and Allied Families_ (George Henry West, comp.), he states that Levi West was the son of George West (will dated 1755) who was the son of Thomas West Sr. of West's Recovery (then part of Maryland, later Delaware). Uncle Harry cited _The West Family Register_ as his source. My family is descended from Thomas West Jr., (George West's younger brother) who inherited part of West's Recovery according to Thomas Sr's will proved 1708, when the oldest son Robert apparently died without heirs. Levi West witnessed the will of Thomas West Jr. in 1759; will proved Jan. 23, 1761.

My family intersects with yours. Benjamin Forror Cocke is my great-grandfather. I would love to know any genealogy you may have for his wife Hettie Florence Nipp. It's my understanding through oral family history that "Nipp" may not have been the original spelling of the name. The legend is that her father was an indentured servant who jumped ship and changed his name to conceal his identity. I don't know if there's any truth to it or not. I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks.

Hi Greg,
The site is great. Several of the Heath family of Warren Co. GA. are currently working on establishing the tree of William Heath and Elizabeth Gee, most of us are participants in the Family Tree DNA project. Can you tell me how you established John Heath b -1752 d - Barnwell Co. S.C. as a brother of Abraham b -1746 and Richard b- 1748 who died in Warren co. GA.? We have been trying to establish a tie between the Warren Co. GA. Heaths and the Barnwell Co. S.C. Heaths but have not been successful. We now have a Barnwell Co. descendant who could make the tie through DNA but this has not been done yet. I think we could also add some additional information to your tree if you desire. Thanks, Robert Heath

I am looking as a "genetic genealogist" at the most common Apperson and Epperson DNA signature, which is also the one showing on your website. This signature has some unique traits also shared by the Clan Calhoun, and apparently can be traced back to around 1200. I have seen the Epernon stuff around the internet, but it is very hard to judge such stories - none seem to explain the source.

I am related to Christopher Kizer. He married Elizabeth Abigail Deaton (Abby) in Hall Co., Ga. on July 11, 1847. My Great-Grandmother was Leah B. Kizer, born Dec 12, 1861, their daughter. Christopher and several of his brothers were in the Civil War. Christopher was killed in the war. Elizabeth was born July 18, 1824 and per the census--in Ga. She died Jan 2, 1902. She did remarry to William Howington. One of their daughters had also married a Howington. I am not certain but I think Abby married either her daughter's father-in-law or maybe an uncle-in-law. They attended the same church. I am in Ga now and haven't looked at my research in over 12 years. Just to fill in the gaps on Christopher's wife.
