Hello, I'm hoping to contact Phil Vogler - long story short, my late mother was related to Norma McGuire, and about 10 years ago Norma emailed me regarding some research she was going into our family's 'Mayflower' lineage. My sisters and I are now researching this lineage, ourselves, and I'd love to touch base with Phil?

Vogler in Amerika
Ref: "History of Virginia".

I have just finished restoring a 35+ year old 16' strawbery banke dory. So now it is time to address the 2 sets of oars. I have the original paperwork which led me to you. I have 8' and 6.5' pairs and I believe they are the #3 diamond shape strait blade. I also have a brochure of sorts that mentions the old volger oar & handle mill with a bit of history that mentions Henry Volger. Cheers....

What a fantastic job you have done with this website. I wanted to touch base with you as my ancestors are Voglers as well. My grandfather Lorenz Vogler came to Canada (landing in Halifax) in 1900 from Russia. He was a descendant of the group (Nicolaus Vogler-1734) that immigrated to Russian in 1767 upon the request of Catherine the Great. I haven't had much time to research the German aspect of the ancestry as I'm still trying to connect the dots in Russia, but, hopefully will eventually get to it.
We've always wanted to take a trip to the beautiful east coast (we live in Saskatchewan) and now I have an extra special reason to do so.. To see Vogler's Cove.

I recently took Y-DNA test as well as Family Finder and mtDNA. The Vogler DNA is described as Neolithic farmers growing Barley and Wheat (Beer)thru Europe migrating North as the family grew. Mostly straight nose, long face, blond or sandy hair, blue or gray/green eyes. (Scandinavian) The Type B-blood is common and is found along the Fjord in North Germany. I have been finding relatives relatives, a lot from Fulda, Germany and that area. Most families claim to be dispersed by war or famine. They came to America for a peaceful life. (Best I can do is Hans Vogler abt 1659)

Dear Mr. Vogler,
I received your site link from our cousin, Norma McGuire. I am related through Eleanor Phalen to Norma. If you have any information or know of any other Phalen descendants, I'd be interested in getting in touch.
My ancestor is Elizabeth Phalen, Eleanor's sister, and of course their parents, William & Mary (Wallace) Phalen. Elizabeth married John Fitzgerald, a Sherrif ("Squire") in Mill Village. They had several daughters, all but 2 of whom emigrated to the Lowell, Massachusetts area, and 2 sons, both of whom emigrated as well. Only 2 daughters stayed in the area: Jean, who married Alex Swansburg and moved with him to Shelburne, where she died 3 years later in childbirth (the son didn't survive either) & Lydia who married James A Zwicker. Lydia was a telephone switchboard operator, and was blind, but I don't know when the blindness set in. They had 4 children, a daughter and 3 sons, one of whom also emigrated to Lowell. The surviving son who remained in NS settled in Bridgewater. His name was George Zwicker, he married later in his life Hilda Wile. Her sister, Cora, lived with them in her later years also. George & Hilda had no children, Cora was a teacher. George & Hilda and also Cora established Bursaries at Bridgewater High School.
Again, if you know of any of the Phelan line who is also interested in family connections, I'd like to share information.

I also trace a Vogler connection through Emma Vogler the daughter of George Vogler who married Catherine McDonald. All of these Voglers were resident in Port Joli, NS and Emma was the sister of Jabish Vogler who was lost at sea on the Avalon

I have been researching the Vogler family for the past several years and have found your site to be an invaluable site for information ... thank you!
There are 2 areas of my Vogler family tree that remain mysterious. My great, great grandfather was Josiah Vogler of Broad Cove and I have been unable to locate his wife's true family of origin. Her 'parents' were Elizabeth and Jacob Sperry and she wrote her maiden name in our Vogler family bible as Mary Augusta Sperry but is listed as Augusta Lohnes on her marriage information to Josiah Vogler. All of her purported "Sperry" siblings have birth records but her "Sperry" birth record is nowhere to be found. As one would expect, I have been swimming in a sea of possible Lohnes (US and N.S.), Conrad and Vogler connections and so far have been unable to definitively place her ... any clues to assist me in solving this mystery would be much appreciated!
My great Aunt Ida Himmelman, who recently passed away, has left her century farm house in Broad Cove to myself and my siblings. I am stumped on tracing the ownership of this house back beyond Josiah and Mary Augusta Vogler's ownership, which appears to have begun around 1860 or so. Anyone out there her knows how best to approach this question?
Again, thanks for such an impressive website!

That is my maiden name. I don't know which Vogler he is and I am searching for him. I know this is a long shot but maybe someone has a simular story. I do know that he would have came to America and that they would have met somewhere in the mountains of North Carolina. Maybe Washington County, or in Thomasville, High Point North Carolina. Maybe even Tennese. If someone knows anything about this please please e-mail me at email@example.com.

I am not finished seeing everything, it will take take days to digest. But I find this to be a most comprehensive record and am enjoying the reading very much. In my own case, I am also a Vogler descendant but from the line of Hans Georg Vogler who came to BroadBay Maine from Gondelshiem Germany on the ship Lydia in 1742. We have lucky to have found the family connection back to our origins in old churchbook records in Gondelshiem.
Good luck to you in your continued search for where you origniated in Prussia.

Konig der Deutsch; was bur.??? in the crypt--with Q. I was overwhelmed by your research and efforts in compilating together such excellent history of a great name. Congratulations to you.
I am a great, great grandaughter of Karl Vogler who migrated to Australia from Blackforest, Germany in 1877, (died in 1909). His son was Charles Julius Vogler (aka Julius)1880 - 1946. One of his 3 sons Arthur Norman Vogler (aka Norm)is my Grandad 1906 - 1989. My dad, Gregory W. Vogler and his brother, Jeffery Vogler are residing in Ipswich now. My Grandma, Alvina May Vogler is 90 and reads alot about the history of the Vogler name. Anyone with any other information relating to this side or would like to find out more, please feel free to contact me.

I am the great-grandaughter of Maude (Irvine) and Arthur Vaughan. Art Vaughan's ansestry contained Vogler's. I have been through the Port Medway cemetry to look for Vogler's and Vaughan's but there a none left. Some of the cemetry has washed out to sea. Eventually I will go to Vogler's cove to search the cemetaries for ansectors.

Apparently your ggggg grandfather's (Johann Heinrich Vogler)
son, Johann Friedrick, was married to my ggggg grandfather's
sister, Maria Elizabeth Schmitt. That would make her my ggggg great aunt.
I have been researching for a number of years, but recently, with the purchase of a PC it has become easier. Thanks for your great site.
