Valerie, your chart about 1st cousins, 2nd cousins, etc. is very helpful. However, the explanation given at the top of the page is not right, and doesn't match the chart. It should state that your parent's 1st cousins are your 2nd cousins. Their children are your 2nd cousins, once removed. Your 1st cousins children are your 1st cousins, once removed. Great chart, though!!

Just started out with my project but other sites are telling me that the name 'Baughen' rooted mostly in Oxfordshire may have derived from the name Baugh, Baff, Baffin or Boffin - can anyone shed any light on this please. I am beginning to find the whole thing fascinating but also confusing!

Wit ref to your Kapel/ German connection. The Capes family name can be traced to Viking origins and is in evidence in Normandy (Land of the North men). Thios could explain the Germania links of Kapel. Just a point of interest for you.
Great site, keep up the good work.
