I'm not sure if I'm related to the Findlay's being researched on this page, but I think it is interesting. My dad, Dale Edward Findlay, was raised in Saginaw, Michigan. He had 7 siblings. He passed in 1985. I believe his father's name was Jesse Findlay.

I have a considerable amount of historal about our Branch of the Findlay family. We were located at the farm of "Shaw Hill", at Riccerton, which I am led to believe is now a suburb of Kilmarnock in Aye Shire, Scotland. My family immigrated to Australia in 1926, on the Ship Largs Bay. We are still in contact with our cousins who branched out in the 14th century. Our family history is of a different opion as to the origins written down into the "Clan History," books. Our ancestors were farming in the Irvine valley at the beginning of the 11th Century. The branch that started under the famous Findlay Mor is said from our family history to have started from a member of the Ayrshire Findlays. He was called, "The Wandering Relation." The theory from our branch passed down for many centuries, is that the Farquarsons came from this relation. I know that this may be very provocative, but according to historical records researched by our cousin in Scotland. Several of the Shaw Hill Findlays Signed a coverdent around the time that Findlay Mor was killed at Pinkie. So the Findlay name had been in use for a considerable time before 1545. The legend was that the findlays were descended from one of McBeath's sons? I can find nothing to substanuate this, but it was always stated that the ancestor was a MacCormak? Several years ago I read Nigel Tranter's book on Macbeath. I spoke with him at the time after I received a letter in reply from him. I had known for many years that MacBeath was supposed to be a Findlay. His book was the only time i have seen it also recorded that MacBeath was a "MacFinlay." It certainly adds a lot of mystic to the Findlay's as a whole. I have all the Findlays, their wives and their children back to the 1600s. If any one would like to say hello you are more than welcome.
