This web site needs to be up dated. The links do not work. I would spend lots of time at this web site if the links worked and if the information went back futher. Good site for the most part.

I have just reviewed your site and it is very interesting and well layed out. One problem is that what I am looking for goes back further in time than what you have available (so far)..

I have a Will of a John Atkison who lived in the Raccoon Creek (swamp) area back in the mid 1700's. He had a son named Amos. The name got changed to Adkins along the way as I understand it.

So, I am looking for anything that may relate to this Amos Atkison(Adkins) born in Surry/Sussex county in and around 1740. In 1796 he married a Phebe Ezell and they sold land and moved to Tennessee by 1806. Amos died in 1818 for which I also have a Will but none of these documents mentions any children, yet he was suppose to have had 10 children via first marriage to a Judkins.

If any of this makes any sense to you and if you may possibly have any information, I would very much like to work with you.

I viewed with interest this site. My family roots are grown from both Emporia,Greensville and Brunswick County. I am African-American and the grandson of GWI & Martha Robinson one of the very first blacksmiths in Emporia between 1890 and 1930. The Robinson Family built their family home in North Emporia on what is now known as Slagles Lake Road around 1901, prior to that the family owned a home that was on he groundsof the current Emporia Public Library. I will add this site to my favorites list so that I can return and possibly add some items that will be valued by your society.

I am looking for a grandfather named Jeremiah Buchanah. In a book named "Tennessee Cousins" it stated that Jeremiah was born in Bankerse, VA in 1767. He was married in Franklin County in 1783. I can not find this town anywhere in VA. I did fing a town in Greensville County on an 1895 map of VA that appears to have been named Brinks Clare, which is now just called Brinks. Was Brinks named Brinks Clare originally? If so my next question would be, are there any birth records for 1767 for a Jeremiah Buchanan? We are trying to find who his father was.

I am looking for a grandfather's birth place. In a book named "Tennessee Cousins" it states that a Jeremiah Buchanan was born in Bankerse, VA in 1767. He was married in Franklin County in 1783 and died in war of 1812 in Jan. 1813 in NY. Was the town of "Brinks" ever called "Brinks Clare"? I have a map published by Ancestry of VA in 1895 and it appears the Brinks was named Brinks Clare. If it was my next question would be if there are any birth records for 1767? Thank you!

Greetings. I am descended from the Masons of Greensville County who (if've got it right) lived in a place called the Hermitage and ran a school there. If anybody is knowledgeable about this family I would appreciate hearing from them! Thank you,

This is a great resource. Thanks to all those who invest a lot of time and effort to make the history of Greensville County available to those like me who live outside the area.

I'm interested in corresponding with any SPENCE family researchers; and especially anyone researching Foster Spence found in records in the 1830's and 1840.
