A cousin of mine, (although not a descendent of the Bradys) found your site and was kind to share it with my mom and I. My mom, Julie Vogler (Valentine) is a granddaughter of Thomas Valentine and Lulu Brady through their youngest son, Keith. I was thrilled to read the account of the first Bradys in America on your site. I've been to Belington and Junior a couple of times. The last time was in 1993 and my grandpa, Keith, showed me many of the graveyards in and around Junior. He and his wife, Dolores, have since passed away. So have his two sisters and brother, Ethel, Ruth, and Tom. I see you don't have their birth dates or dates of death listed, nor their children and their children (my generation). If you want, I can provide you with that information. Thanks so much for the wonderful website!
Godspeed,
Rebecca Vogler

In Loving Memory of My Grandparents, Troy Robert & Elizabeth Thrash Brady

Just a quick note to all –

What inspired me to do this came about as I was taking my part in remembering Mother Brady, during her Memorial Service on 12-19-2002, but doing so from California. Last year, when I learned that she was failing in health, and it looked like she would not be with us much longer, I made a decision.

I knew that my next trip to Florida would be for her, so I decided that instead of returning for a funeral, I returned to spend a week seeing her for the last time. I spent her 95th birthday with her, and all of our family as well. That was in September last year. Mother Brady left us in December. I have no doubt that Pop Troy was wearing a path in the ground in front of Heaven’s Pearly Gates, only waiting to enter God’s Kingdom with Mother on his arm. They did everything together.

Back in California, during her memorial service, I picked up her book, Reclaimed Memories, and started to read it from the beginning. Not actually having done so before (just skimmed thru before), I became so engrossed, simply because I had been to many of the places spoken of, and I have the special memories of having lived with them during my early teenage years (13-14) in Singer’s Glen. I read non-stop to the end of the book. That took two days.

That is when I decided to start this project.

Those memories with them during those years are some of the most cherished memories of my life.

As a belated gift to them, and to future generations, I decided to convert all of the books to digital format and publish it to the Internet, since only a few actual hard copies were printed. Now these works can be passed down indefinitely.

The final works have enhancements and links to other cross-references and photos of the many “monuments, landmarks and the beautiful countrysideö spoken of that are not contained in the original works. This is for those that have not had the chance to visit these places, and to add to the experience of being with them in spirit.

The digital PDF reproductions of these books, Pop Troy’s Anthology, Reclaimed Memories & Kinfolk are as close to the original as I could make them. The only changes made were due to some layout constraints. (Plus a few minor typos that slipped by).

I certainly hope you enjoy these works. It is a walk down memory lane........

And many thanks to my father, Howard Brady, for his help with this project. His editing skills have been invaluable. Thanks, Dad!

Robert Martin Brady
Proud Grandson of Troy Robert & Elizabeth Thrash Brady
