Hi John
I have been hunting for a Charles McIntosh who married a Christian Nicholson. As their first child of eight children Angus was born 1819 I expect they married about 1818.
All their children were born in Snizort.

Mr G-G-G-Grandfather was Major Charles McIntosh of the 73rd Highlanders. He was born in 1765 supposedly at Stirling Castle. We only know that he had one brother and that they were orphaned and Charles joined the army to pay for university for brother to go through medical school. Charles served in America the East Indies, Scotland and finally Sydney, where he died in 1829. He married Frances de Cecy (Coutel) in Pondicherry, India and was then stationed at Stirling Casle where their first child Charles Hunter (my GG- Grandfather) was born in 18.12.1809.
If anyone could shed some light on Major Charle's brother who may or not have been a doctor, it would be most appreciated.

Great site. I am a McIntosh descendant, four generations ago in 1853 John McIntosh arrived in Victoria. He was born in Ireland in c1807 and married Arabella Fields in Dundee in 1836. Arabella followed John to Victoria in 1855 with their seven children - Margaret, Mary, William, James, John, Jane and Norman. After they re-united in Victoria two more children were born - Samuel and Robert.
A distant cousin of mine, with McIntosh as his surname, wrote a book on our family of McIntosh's in the late 1980's. In his book he refers to Moy Hall and Clan Chatten from Scotland as well as most of John's and Arabella's descendants. He also mentions that a Robert McIntosh was on the same boat as our John and they could have been brothers.
Some of this information reflects what is already in the "McIntosh of Sterling" website. I find this very interesting.
As with most other visitors to this website; I ask if any of my words ring a bell or look familiar could the reader please contact me.
Again, a great site, well thought out and I appreciate the oportunity to leave my note.

Hello,
My father's grandfather was Joseph N. MacIntosh. He was born and died in Jersey City, NJ. In the family Bible his father is listed as Joseph N. MacIntosh of Scotland. I have found evidence of the younger JM living in Jersey City, and have pictures of him. I am trying to find his father, who emigrated to America. He was married to a woman named Mary Cummings, of "Northern Ireland" (same Bible) I do know that JM, Sr. died young and Mary remarried and had more children. The younger JM was born after his father died. Any steering you can do in the right direction is welcome. I have so many holes filled in now in my family tree, and this branch is woefully empty.
