Wow....you have done a wonderful job documenting and putting your family history together. I have been researching my family name of "Hemgesberg" for about 6-7 years. I am starting to run out of places to research as I can only go back to the early 1600's in Germany. Can you offer any suggestions or sources to check?
The other reason I am writing is to see if you have any information on Elizabeth Laux who married Joseph Hemgesberg. She would be my great grandmother. Her father was Athon and was born in Alsace, Germany.
Anthon came to America and died here in Michigan. I am not sure if he came directly to Michigan or possibly to other states firt. There is a gap in time there.
Can you offer any suggestions?

Thanks for making these data available online. I've a double interest here (though alas - at least based on a brief search - I didn't hit any Eureka moment of my own on your website). My interest starts with the van Wormer family of Schoharie / Albany in upstate New York, specifically with my great x 2 grandmother Jane Ann van Wormer 1809 - 1889 whose genealogical provence was much dug into by my grandfather back in the early twentieth century, though as far as I can tell his conclusions on her ancestry remained provisional because of the number of folks in the family with the same names. My eye is also caught by mention of the Palatinate, since I used to live and work in the region for some years (Deidesheim & Edenkoben) though I realise it is a large area so probably your Luke ancestors are from some place else. It is an interesting part of the world, and one which the wars of the seventeenth century treated especially harshly. No wonder a lot of families emigrated to America.
I wish you success in your researches.

My grandmother was named Lillian Jane Luke. I have been unable to find much relating to her. The facts I do have are included below.
She was born in January 1920; possibly the 26th.
In 1930, she resided in Colley, Penn. with her older, married sister, Doria Hickey (possibly Doris),Doria's husband Melvin Hickey, and their two children named June and Joan.
She married my grandfather Melvin Lorraine Louch in the early 1940's (1944?)in Washington.
Together, they had a daughter they named Judith Lorraine Louch (my mother)
Lillian died in 1946 or 7; it is told that she died during childbirth and so did the baby. They are buried side-by-side in Mount Hope Cemetery, Lansing, Michigan.
Is she possibly a member of your family line? I would really like to find out more about her.

Nice site you have there. I am not related; my interest is in black history in Quebec. I am interested in knowing what happened to the slaves owned by the widow Geesie Luke (née Lagrange) at her death. Any idea?
