I have been told that there is a source of information in NC that indicates "Amey Mabry married William Richards" would anyone know what the source of this information is? They were married in or prior to 1773, the date of her father's (Francis Mabry)will. No marriage bond or other record was found in the NC Archives. She was also the daughter of Mary Eppes Mabry. Surnames Bute County, North Carolina
Comments:
In reading some of these queries, it appears that some of you don't seem to realize where you are posting to.
This is Bute County, North Carolina, which only existed from 1764 to 1779. Any queries for folks living in NC after that time period, you are wasting your time and someone born in the 1800's would certainly not have been living in Bute County.
In 1779, Bute Co. was divided up into Warren County and Franklin County; most records for Bute County are included in Warren County, although a few very early ones were recorded in Franklin for citizens who lived in the areas that became that County. It is suggested that you also check those locations for your ancestors, there may be records there to help you.

Regards.

Surnames KING
Comments:
I am seeking information on the King family that resided or owned property in Granville (pre Bute) County, and during the Bute County era and those King families that remained during early Warren County, NC up about 1840.

Who were John, James, William, Julian, Wood, George, Joseph, Robert, David, Henry and Charles King? How were they related and what are their approximate birth and each dates? Where they all from the same areas (Mecklenburg & Brunswick) in Virginia?

I am in particular interested in a Charles King, who married a Mary. They resided in Mecklenburg County, VA during the 1760's, but purchased land in Bute in 1770. Around the same time a George King and a Henry King purchased land in Bute, they too were from Mecklenburg, and they seemed to be close to a Robert King and Joseph King (who died in Bute in 1772).

Robert King may have been the son of and older Henry King, who had the original land grant from Lord Granville in 1754.

Bennett, Jones and Wood people are always nearby on deeds or court records. Do they have any family connections to the King family?

I am searching for "nephew Nicholson, son of Edmund Harris and Mary of Bute County, NC". This person was referenced in the will of James Nicholson, probated 1804 in the Adams County, MS court records.

Family notes written in the 1800's tell us that the Nicholson family came to MS area from North Carolina, and while there Henry Nicholson married Naomi Canty.

I did find an Edmund Harris (and a James Nicholson) in the Oath of Allegience listings for Bute Co., NC.

So far I've found nothing. Those are my two clues to North Carolina!! Hoping that someone researching those families might have information about the Nicholson and Canty families.

Thank you so much.

My husband's family is Pernell but was once Pinnell. I have John Pinnell born abt 1750-1752, died bet 1813-1814 in Franklin Co. NC He was married to Rebekka Murphy. In Granville County NC Records show Col. Eilliam Eaton's militia Regiment-roll taken 8 Oct 1754-Captain Sugar Jones Company (140 men) #98. Richard Pinnel, 99. John Pinnel, 100. Joshua Pinnel. I think this John was the father of John who married Rebekka but have no firm proof of that
I have transcribed the Indenture of land document from The Earl of Granville to Richard Pinnel in 1760. I also have John's (husband of Rebekka)will as well as his son, Rial's will. I don't know for certain if they were in Virginia however Granville, Bute, Warren were all very close to the Virginia line. In fact the land granted to Richard is within 10-15 miles of the Va. border. Would be happy to share all the info I have with you. Have numerous court records showing Thomas Pinnell and wife Mary in land transfers but have not been able to connect him to John or Joshua directly.

Surnames LUCY
Comments:
Seeking information on LUCY surname - specifically information on Isham LUCY who appears on the 1766 and 1771 Tax Lists for Bute County, N.C., as well as the 1784 Warren County Tax List (presumed to be the same Isham or his descendant).

Also Ann Lucy who married Tilman R. Daniel 29 June 1812 - Jerimiah Allen bondsman and Jno. H. Green witness.

Farther afield, I am intersted in Burwell Lucy who appears on the North Hampton Tax List of 1780.

I am trying to link these folks to Wiliam Burl Lucy (my gg grandfather) who turned up in east Tennesse by the early 1800's. Wiliam was born in NC. Early records from Tennessee show William B. Lucy as a witness to a land warrant for Ishma Cherry. Also present was Paton Lucy.

Finally: Heirs of Frederick Lucy, Private, 640 acres issued 22 Dec 1796 were assigned by Burwell Lucy to Daniela Mason in August of 1797.

Does this ring any bells for anyone?

I am a descendant of Shadrack Kinnebrew who signed the Safety Committee Minutes in 1784. Did this mean he had become a Mason? Was he signifying he was a sympathizer with the American cause? Was he a member of the militia? This is the only evidence of his residece in North Carolina. Help!
