I am doing some research for my son regarding his father's side of the family. His father is a Gray from Western Kentucky (Louisville) but we dont' have alot of info past grandparents and am looking for a Gray lineage that is Dutch in origin (so we are told), and are mainly from western Kentucky area. Son's great grandparents are James Allen Gray, a former coal miner, and from Hart County, and Great grandmother is Flossie Mae Hinton Gray from Ohio County, Kentucky. Both born around 1900-1905. Hi, I descend from Sarah Gray that married William J. Barnes and settled in Lawrence County, Alabama. She was born in Tennessee in 1806. A deposition given by her in 1828-1829 concerns a horse that belonged to her father, Peter Gray and sold by him to his son, William Gray. William named a son, Tandy, and a daughter, Serepta, as did Sarah Gray Barnes. I think Peter Gray was related to the Grays in Limestone County, Ala. My father was Frank Gray, born in Springfield or Alton, IL.
My grandparents were Gideon Gray and Ellen Ivy (Ivey), born in Alton, Madison County, IL.
My great grandparents were James Gray, born 1820 (possibly in KY) and Betsey Ann Hardy, born 1826 in IL. They were married in 1850. The Hardy family was from KY and VA.
I don't have any info on the Gray family before James.
Any help would be appreciated.

I am looking for a Walter Gray who lived and died in Montana about 1890 - 1897. He was married to my great great grandmother Johanna Peschel, they had two children. She died in the early 1890's and he died in the late 1890's. When he died, their son, Frank was sent to live with the Gray family in Seattle, Wash. Their daughter, Martha was sent to live with her mothers family in Minnesota. Frank had two children, Aletha and Frank Jr. Walter was buried between three trees in Montana. My Great grandmother is Sarah Ann Gray b. 1875 in Ga. She married John W. Ballew, I know nothing about her family, who her father or mother were or if she had brothers or sisters...she is my mystery woman...
They had 5 children that I know of, Henry Robert, Arthur Rawls, Ellen Marion, Lucinda and my grandmother Roxy Lu.

I am looking for anyone related to Joseph Linn/Lynn Gray who was listed on census as being born in TN and later moving to Lawrence County, AL. Jospeh was apparently married 2 or 3 times. The wife we descend from was a Bettie Summers Alexander, a widow with a couple of children when she married Joseph. Joseph later married a Prescilla or Priscilla Boyd in Lawrence Co. They also had children. We believe that a son,Tandy, moved to Arkansas but are not totally sure, since there were two Tandy Gray's about the same age living very close to one another.We know that some of the Boyd family moved on to TX and since we can find no trace of Joseph after a certain point, wonder if he either died or moved to Texas with his wife's family. Any one who thinks that may be related please feel free to contact me.

Researching all Gray Families in hopes of finding the missing link to my Gray line.
My grt grt grandmother was Mary Margaret Gray-Scribner, she was born between 1859/60. possibly born in Missouri. Mary and her husband John Scribner died jan 1898 in Oklahoma. Leaving behind 5 ? children. Vincent A. Cummings became guardian of these children.
the first census that I have found on my ancestor grandmother is 1870 in Howell Co. Missouri. The head of the household listed was Mariah Gray 29 Yrs old, at this point we have to assume that this is the mother of Mary Margaret Gray-Scribner.
It lists a brother John W. Gray and a sister Josaphine Gray.
This family came from Pa;Va and Mo.
a grandaughter(84 yrs old) of John W. Gray states that her grt grandfather's name was Jacob Gray and he died in the civil war/location unknown. Grt grandmother's name was Mariah Airheart. Search has been fruitless.
Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

My Grandfather was General Gray, son of William Gray and Mary Scalf. Mary died when my grandfather was about one years old. The census then states that William Gray was living with Fady Collins, they had two children, Emmer Gray and Matt Gray. General Gray was born in Clay Co Ky and married Rachel North. Searching the Gray family of Autauga Co. Al. They were in Ga. first and your Pratt connection caught my eye. Most of the Gray line I'm searching lived in Prattville founded by Daniel Pratt also first in Ga. who came into Al. and started up a huge cotton gin and built up the town around it. Lots of people employed by him including Grays I'm sure.Also had Al. Grays marrying Bullards! Interested.
