My name is Bonnie Georgeson-Carmack. I married William Carmack in 2001. His father's name was also William (no middle name) Carmack and he was from Canton Ohio. Below is what his sister Ann told me when I asked recently:
"Just what my Uncle Bob Carmack told me a long time ago. He was doing research way back then. Most of the family was from the south. I think Grandpa Carmack was from Tennessee. I know Grandma Carmack was from Kentucky (her name was Carrie Ann Garrett). Uncle Bob told me that we had some Cherokee in us because of the "Trail of Tears". When the Cherokee were marched from the south to the north. I don't know if it's true - would love to know though!"

Over the last years of his life we had a lengthy correspondence and he wrote many interesting details and stories about his Carmack family. I spoke via email with you a few years ago about the Carmack line. I believe my great gfather Jesse Ann Carmack parents were Jesse C(?)Carmack and Mary Boyd. According to the family Jesse had a twin sister Mary Ann that died young (before 2). The family has always heard that after the death of Jesse Ann's father in Texas, the grandmother (Mary Boyd from Christian Co. Ky) assisted in getting the family back to Ky.) This week I saw in the 1880 cenus records in Caldwell Co. Ky an entry to varied that Jesse Ann was raised by David Glass. Jesse was taken to the Glass home at abt age 6. He is listed as adopted and age 12. (Two living gdaughters knew this fact.) Jesse Ann had two brothers that we're aware of in Ky--Tom and Mark. Wondering if Jesse Ann is a grandson of William or Cornelius. Also, my family has heard that we have Native American heritage through the Carmack line.

Her Father Jesse Carmack was born 1795 in VA. died abt. 1868 in Burleson Co. Tx. and her mother, Margaret was born 1803 GA.? TN? died about 1861 (last name unknown). Elizabeth married in 1856 to

buried near Goldswaith,Texas. She Married German Immigrant Harmen Diersen in 1894 in Brenham, Texas, Washington County Texas.

Recently found Elizabeth Carmack's grave in Burleson County near Lyons, Texas called The Birch Creek Cemetery.
Buried near her and John were the Maddox's and Diersen(Dearson.
Some info forums show Elizabeth having 3 syblings:
Margaret, Tenny(Tennessee)and Dhronia?
My Mother was Adell Lorrian Dearson(Diersen) she was the 11th child of Mary Elizabeth and Harmen Deirsen.

My earliest known ancestor is Samuel B. Carmack B.abt 1808 married to Mary "Polly" Davis of Edgecombe County, North Carolina. Samuel and Mary migrated to Coffee Co., Tn by 1850, on to Hardeman Co, by 1860 and were last found in Gibson Co, Tn in 1870 living with son, Pellam Poinset Carmack. We're still searching for ancestors of Samuel B. Carmack, hoping to make connections to the North Carolina families through DNA tests.
