I am looking for any information on the relatives of Mathurin (Maturin) Hebert (nicknamed "Blanc"). He was a Jayhawker in the Civil War. He and his wife (?) and his son (Benoit died 5/1929 at 67 yrs. old) were buried in the Quebodeaux Cemetery near Mermentau (graves no longer marked). Benoit's wife was Marie Joicine Sensat. They had 8 children: Lucia (Joachin Clement), Lucien (Celima Pousson), Maturin (Cora Sensat), Benjamin (Amatile Cormier), Louricia (Paul Prejean, Sr.), Joashin (Beatrice Guidry - my grandparents), Felecian Emma Smith ?), Eluse (Rena Kibodeaux). Glad to find a genealogy site for Acadia Parish. The Allen County Public Library (ACPL) has next to no vital records in any of their holdings; only general history of the area of southern Louisiana. As they are the largest public genealogy library in the country, you would do well to make them more up-to-date with local records of Acadia Parish (and other parishes, if you have them OR pass the word to other parish organizations). Also, I find it curious that the first three names on my list of surnames are not amongst your member's list; yet all three were vital members of Acadia Parish. Crowley Motor Company was owned by John A. Finley for years and years.

The information was helpful. Especially the history. I am trying to better understand Iota and the surrounding areas from which my family came from. I am still looking for a census map that breaks the counties up into individual parts (i.e. police jurisdictions, etc.) as noted on the census records. This would help me understand place of residenc from one decade to another. I hope to visit Louisiana next year. At that time, I plan to do more research of local documents available.

It's been great to check out the web site even though it didn't give me any information I needed. I am stuck making a connection on the Frederick side. Found my g-grandfather Felecian and grandmother unknown name in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
My g-mother has been differcult to locate. My brother lives in Crowley and has been looking. Ada Frederick Dore' 1900-1942.
Bouville Dore' was my grandfather. Trying to make a connection to Felecian's parents with no luck. I am about to give up on them. I am very frustrated. I search everyday. I am at a loss of where he came from and who his parents were. On my Comeaux side I have gone back to the year 1652 with Pierre Comeau. AWESOME. They Had 2 girls.
He married Agnis about 1927 and had J.C.Klump
He was born in Iota Mar 13, 1928
J.C. went in the Navy and moved west.
My daughter married one of his sons.
I woukd like to find out anything I can about the earlier Klumps and confirm any dates of births, marriages and deaths.

My father name was Robert Berkley Thibodeaux and he was born in Philadelphia in 1940 and put up for adoption. He was adopted by the Slade family. I was able to get his adoption record but that is all. His father's name was Hubert Louis Thibodeaux and born in Louisianna around 1908. I'd love to find an old picture of his father or determine if he has any half brothers.

I enjoy the site very much. It does contain some interesting information. I am searching for ancestrial information for my family genealogy. I have a difficult situation with my mother-in-law. She was born in Evangeline, LA. and adopted there in 1907. She was raised by the William Heywood family. They moved to Michigan when she was about 14 years old. When she was in her 50's she learned that her birth mother was dead, but that she had 1/2 brothers whose names were Lewis, Joe, and Clifford Melanson and a 1/2 sister, Ruby Melanson McCoy.
