I am researching the family history of my ancestor Joshep Carmichael born around 1792, in Ulster, Northern Ireland. In 1804 at age 12, he came to America to North Carolina. In 1811 he married Corteney Cartright. ANY help with Joshep's family would be appreciated!

I am also descended from Carmichaels from Lanarkshire, not the same ones as you are descended from, but once you are up and running maybe you will have something about my Carmichaels.

Hello/1 It was nice to use yur new website. It's understandable trying out your own website for the first time. The only suggestions I might give are: Clicking on a surname, such as Barr, it doesn't say anything about the Barr family, or any history of origin of this particular branch. 2) A "Links" list to click that zeros in on athe families--the more extensive histories and/or further genealogies, or places to click to about the areas which your family lines are/were located. Examples, are if the Barrs were from Nova Scotia (but originally from Scotland), yet also from France as in surname origins=Le Barre, Desbarres, Bahr, Bar, etc. Or even ship lists to do lookups, etc. It wold be fun to spend time with the other links and delving into each surname with family lines, but maybe not to click "Barr", which goes to another click to search through Ancestry.com and then keep clicking only to find it is in some book they want to sell you. This is what freepages.genealogy.com is about; genealogy has enough time expenditure and stumbling blocks, so wading through the freepages isn't a problem. Usually, you find a lot of hits when you'd least expect them! But keep up the good work--it'll be rewarding. You'll meet many cousins and relations you didn't know you had and can visit many places to visit them. Even online! Thank You Beth MacDonald
