Comments:	Would the lady who tried to contact me by e-mail on or about September 2 or 3, 2009 after seeing my post concerning my HOPKINS surname under "Members Interests" in the GFHS Journal #94 June 2009, please write to me by post. I was very interested in your e-mail concerning my Glamorgan HOPKINS family and your BEVAN family (your mother was a Bevan). My father often spoke of our families' friendship when he and my grandfather lived in Wales prior to 1923. I saw your e-mail on the web-based version of my Internet Service Provider's (ISP) webmail page from a friend's computer, but I did not note your name or e-mail address. When I returned home and tried to download it to my own computer to respond to you, it simply vanished. I suspect my Anti-Virus program may have interfered with it. I really want to get in touch with you as I have interesting information of our family connections that I want to share with you. Comments:	Nice site. I thought maybe I could find some detailes about my grandfather’s cousine Marie Cathrine Hansen from Denmark, Haderslev, born in 1944. She married someone who was born in Glamorgan and his name was David Evans, they had 3 children: Mark, David and Anne Marie. Aunt Marie died very young. She married Frank Morgan, originally from Trellech, Forest of Dean but had moved down to Whitchurch and found a job at Melingriffith Tin Plate Works. He eventually became a Coal Merchant and even rebuilt the Melingriffith Works Band.

Comments:	My great-grandmother named Isabella Mainwaring was born in Pennsylvania, however, her father, whom I believe was named Joseph Mainwaring was born in Wales in about 1828. I can't seem to find out anything about him except that he was an iron worker (puddler). I'm thinking that he was from Glamorgan. Any guidance on where I might look? Thanks

Comments:	GRIFFITHS, DAVIES & STOCKHAM & SON BAKERY Sorry abt, this second note. Looking for anyone who knew TAL and MAY GRIFFITHS - both died in the early 1970's I believe. Their only child was VERA GRIFFITHS - she maried DANIEL DAVIES -- possibly DANIEL GLANVILLE DAVIES. Both were teachers in the Swansea/Neath area. Their children are GLANVILLE DAVIES, CLIVE DAVIES, KERI DAVIES (m)and ANDREA DAVIES. The kids would range in age now from 64 to 60 years of age. They lived in Langland Bay in their early teens - Glan surfed alot. Other GRIFFITHS I am related to from same area: OLWEN ALBERT WILLIAM RAYMOND HAYDEN MORFYDD AGNES MARIAN MINNIE These were Tal's brothers & sisters and all were born around 1880-1900. Their estate was called Rhoslyn at 4 Crown Street, Swansea -- I would love to have a picture of the house! They also owned or were employed by STOCKHAM & SON BAKERY in Neath. One of the sisters (Agnes) was married to Fred Stockham.

Comments:	I am trying to trace my mothers Davies family. My GGGrandfather Thomas T Davies (wife Janet) was a baptist minister of the Zion Baptist church. Towards the end of his life he lived in Ynysybwl and died at Mountian Ash and is buried I believe in Ynysbwl. My Great Grandfather (T.T. Davies son)Thomas Owen Davies (Wifes Elizabeth Williams(grandpa Tommy's mom)and Mary Ellen Stephen)moved to Barry Docks where he was a Rigger for most of his life. Died there in 1942 after a bicycle accident. Grandpa (Thomas Daniel)was a merchant mariner and came to Canada about 1920ish but jumped ship in Vancouver BC so no immigration records for him. Thomas Owen Davies brother Daniel Davies also lived in the Barry area.

Comments:	My father, Thomas Harris, was born in Mountain Ash in 1918 and will be 91 in May. He worked at Abergorki Colliery for four years, until his family moved up to Amersham in 1936. I would like to find a locally published book about the coal mines, including, of course, Abergorki Colliery. Does anyone have any ideas where I might find such a book, please? Comments:	What a lovely site. I am really going to use the Recipes. I have been looking for a good recipe for Bara Brith for ages. Have totally sold my husband on it after all his visits to Wales. I was born in Mountain Ash, Glamorgan. My father removed us to London when I was 71/2. I disliked living in London and my most memorable times were when we spent our two weeks holiday in Wales. I am researching Maddy, Davies, Morgan in Glamorganshire. The Maddys originally came from Breconshire and Herefordshire. My gt grandfather Davies was from Herefordshire. Comments:	The last two generations of my family were all based in Glamorgan, the family names are: Davies, Robotham, Morgan and Gardner, several were business people keeping shops and others were Congregational ministers or lay preachers. Our branch of Davies seem to have come from Mydrin, Camarthen and the Gardners came to Merthyr area from Shropshire. Our Morgans came to Treforest from Swansea area and the Robothams seemed to resided in Treforest and Whitchurch for some time. I was born in 1948, but aged 2, left Wales and was taken to live in Sri Lanka, Singapore, Hong Kong and Cyprus until I was 19. I have just started to construct a family tree and have come a bit unstuck on verification for our Thomas Morgan born circa.1831 in Llangyfelach, we think he was twice married. It's details like this I hope I can find by joining this Glamorgan Society?

Went to Grammar school in Maesteg 1941 through 1945.Would like to hear from anyone there from that time period. My Crabb line is Cornish and I have a pretty good handle on that. My problem is with my Davies line ( so what is new) and particularly where it merges with the Kirkhouse branches from Llanon, Carmarthen. Comments:	My Grandfather, John Harry was married at Carmel Penrhiwceiber (not sure if this is the right spelling) in the district of Ponty Pridd in the County of Glamorgan back on May the 19th, 1891. He married Elizabeth Lewis. He was 21 at that time. His father was Daniel Harry and his father in law was Rees Lewis, both colliery workers. Both of them lived on Rheola Street in Penrhiwceiber. I am trying to get information on his family and any family history of the Harry's or the Lewis's. If you can direct me to someone who can help me out, I would be grateful. My sister and I have begun to research our family history.I'm looking into my fathers side of the family whilst my sister is looking into my mother's, her family originate from Ireland via Durham. Both families came to Kent with the opening of the Kent Coal Fields approx 1934/35. My father's family at that time were the first to move up from the Rhondda -others subsequently followed plus from other areas of Wales as well. My father's name is Richard Davies, his father was also Richard and my grandmother was Martha Biddiscombe.

Comments:	I am so glad I stumbled on your website. I have been looking for information about my Grandfather who left Ferndale, to come to America as a young man. I have some census' but haven't got any idea of where 27 Pontypridd Rd. is. It says on the 1881 census place Ystradyfodwg, Glam. Wales. So lucky I found 77 Taff St. where I think my family lived. My Grandfather was Jonah M. Jones, b. 1866 son of William and Marg. Jones. They had lots of other children. I would love to exchange information with anyone. I'm off to bookmark this site so I don't lose it. The Rhondda valley had such beautiful colors before the mines took over.

Comments:	My ancestors were Percy and Gentila Price nee Roberts, from Brynmenyn. Gentila was related to Romany gypsies and born c1890. Percy died, and she moved with her 3 children (Rose, Percy, and Violet) to Cowbridge Rd, Bridgend. She then married Alan Edwards and died in Newport in 1966. Her daughter Violet (born 1924) married Clifford Marriott and moved to Notts, England. I would be extremely interested in hearing from anyone who recogises these names.

In 1889 he was Station Master (GWR) at Pyle and in the 1891 Cen. was Station Master at Woollaston, Gloucester.] Two children born Pyle were 1878, Elizabeth (Bessie) & 14 Jan 1889 Ivey Beatrice. Comments:	Our GGGFather Evan Thomas was born in 1769 (we believe in LLangynwyd, Glam.) and married in 1796 at St. Fagans, Glammarried to Ann (Miles) born 1776. His parents were Rees and Jane (Wiliams). Her's were John and Alice Miles. Evan and Ann came to Philadelphia in the US in August 1801 aboard the "Venture Again" and had a son John born in 1807 in Utica, NY. Other children were Ann 1806, Alice 1809 and Peter C 1811 (our GGFather).

Comments:	had this strange dream with an ancestor telling me he'd been a bickel who'd helped free the "mon-mu" from the South of Wales. Googled what I'd remembered of the dream, because it woke me up and found that Monmouthshire was next to Glamorgan (southern Wales) and had joined England somehow in the 1500's. Just like I understood from my nocturnal visit. Don't know about my family, but wonder if there are Bickels still in glamorgan.

Philip was a widower with a daughter, Sarah, b. 1844. His father was Benjamin (deceased). Ann was a spinster. Her father was Samuel, a farmer. In the 1851 census I have Philip married to Mary and the census shows he was born in Bewellty, Momouthshire. Philip brought his family including my grandmother, Margaret Ann, b. 1855 to the USA in 1857.

I was wondering about the photos of Soar/Zoar Chapel - I'd like to see a close-up of the people in the interior. My great-grandparents (married in 1887) and their family were faithful members of Zoar for many years and some - including my grandfather - were members of the choir. My grandmothers name was Anne Davies, she lived in Llantwit Major in Morfa Lane(under the old railway bridge there) My uncle Walter Davies was the local blacksmith in Llanwit for many years, another of my uncles Ron Davies worked on the construction of the Aberthaw Power Station back then. I have fond memories of the area as I spent most of my school vacations in Llantwit and surrounding areas.
