We recently inherited 2 letters written from the First Battle of Bull Run by a Confederate soldier from Company F of 6th North Carolina Infantry. We believe it came through Ida Theresa Bason Walker, my great-grandmother and wife of Gabriel Lea Walker. She is also the daughter of Henry Bason and Mary Trollinger Bason. The letter is unsigned. It was written to his mother, but we don't know who she was. Any ideas? I assume it was from Ida's uncle or a much older brother, as she was born in 1858. Catherine Hylands

Her father William Benjamin Ogletree was killed when she was very young, so she may not know. Thank you for all the work you have put into this site. Hello.
I believe I am descended from Henry Chamniss and Mary Moore. My Granddaddy is Laula James Chambliss. His father is Hopkins Pratt Chambliss, and his father is John Alexander Chambliss. Prior to John Alexander Chambliss it is a little gray. I believe that John Alexander Chambliss is the grandson of John Chambliss, Sr. and Elizabeth Taylor, though some of my dates don't exactly match yours.

I would like to hear from you and I will be glad to share what information I have if we can find the connection.

I can tell you that you are related to my husband on your Starr side, so I would be glad to share what we have on that side of his family.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I don't know who Martin's parents are. You seem to have the same problem if I am reading things correctly. I have a source that says Martin's parents are George Isley and Barbara Graves, which you state. I also have a source that says his father was Philip Isley, which you also state in the next paragraph.
I have Martin Isley's will from 1859 and the children you attribute to Martin the second are listed in Martin Sr's will as children of his and Catherine's (Apple)
I love the story about Malachi Isley. Is that a family story or from a book. If from a book, I'd love to have the title so I can read it.

There are a LOT of Iseli/Isely's in the US and the majority are named Jacob! Mine are Switz/German and I don't know how they arrived in Kansas but they did. I've browsed all over the US just hoping to connect with some and did find a "lost" sheep, so one never knows. Happy Hunting!

Dear JennaLee, I'm trying to verify a Patton lineage sent to me by a relative. The start of your Pattons appears to parallel mine. Your Alexander Patton b. 1720s Sadsbury Twp, PA d. Orange Co., NC. My John Patton b. 1720 Sadsbury Twp. died 1799 Orange Co., NC. According to my file, John's father: Robert Patton, b: 1685 in Kilmacrenan, Donegal, IRE, d: 1755, Sadsbury Twp, Chester, PA. I do not have an Alexander listed as a brother or cousin to John, but i have no idea how complete my file is. Please let me know if you have additional information, esp ancestral to Alexander, that might connect or definitively disconnect our lines. Best, Bruce Patton

If so, who? Henry Chambliss
Comments:
You've given me a source document to go to, the book mentioning the Chambliss immigration from England/France. And to answer a question about the ballplayer…you should try sharing the entire name.

Hello, My grandfather was Claude Rex Davidson m. Edna Holloway. My mom is Margie Irene Davidson Price. You have a really nice web site. I am doing research on my family also. I took off a couple years and now that I am not working I am getting back into the search. back a few years ago I talked with WD davidson. I have tried to email him but I get no response. Is he still doing research? I would love to find who Thomas's parents were. Do you have any pictures of the family back then? My mom is sending me a picture she has of James Arthur,Mollie(2 children), Thomas and Dicey. I would like to hear from you and please let me know if you have any pictures. Thanks, Deb Deguchi, Colo.Spgs., CO

Do we have any ansestors in common? maybe
If so, who? Griffin's of Georgia
Comments:
My Griffin ancestors moved into Henry County Georgia in 1823, probably from land grants from the Cherokee nations. They settled in the area of Hampton, Georgia, with the Atkins and Adams families on what was then called "Oaklawn Plantation".

William Griffin was my g-g-grandfather and his father was William but neither match the 60 years old in 1880 you show on your page.
