An excellent basic reference, which will help considerably in clarifying the trading that took place in London in the early 18th Century.

I was pleased to see my 6x great uncle, Joseph Cross, Hatter, listed on Cannon lane. I would love to hear from anyone researching him.
Joseph Cross m. Margaret Willett, and though I know practically nothing of her ancestry, I do know a bit of his, and much of his collateral lines. I'd love to share with any descendants of theirs or relatives of ours.

Dear Ms. Burton:
I am preparing an article on the Irish presence in the mid-18th-century London merchant community. I have Kent's 1740 Directory on microfilm, but your web page has been very helpful. Are you planning to put other 18th-century London resources on this site? Thanks for making this one available. Best wishes, Tom Truxes

I use the genealogical databases for historical research in my work at my office, BUT I can't access the new French Refugees information <http://freepages.history.rootsweb.com/~frpayments/Index.htm> because "my security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly." The ActiveX portion opens the second small window which should have the necessary links to names, but these links are not displayed fully. The same ability that allows a programmer to open a new IE window is what would allow him/her/them to be able to do harm to a PC. So I can't use the French refugees data as a result. (I can use the Kent's Directory, however, which is great!)

Also, I tried to contact RootsWeb directly about this, but I am prevented because my access to the link for sending a message to RootsWeb is also restricted and blocked. We never used to have all these restrictions, but my agency is adding more and more security, apparently. It's too bad.
