Your West Central IL Ancestor	McGlasson, Young, Crabtree, etc.
Comments:	I very much like your site, and have found lots of information on my ancestors. I have been to Glasgow and Winchester a couple of times in the past two years, and came there when I was about 14 when my father researched our family. My ancestor names are primarily: McGlasson, Young, Crabtree and Dinsmore. I have found many of my relatives, however, I am having a hard time finding the burial site of my Great Grandparents. My father probably knew, but he passed away in 2003. They were Edward McGlasson, son of Milton McGlasson and Sarah Jane Dinsmore, and Lucy Young, daughter of James Young and Margaret Crabtree. Edward died in about 1897, and Lucy I'm not sure, but probably about 1913. She remarried in 1905 to John Douglas, and he died in about 1908. I found a John Douglas in one of the cemeteries in Scott County, but not sure it's the right one. I have physically searched Glasgow and Young Cemeteries where many of my ancestors are buried on eachof my visits, but have not found them. I did get a copy of their wedding certificate from the Winchester Court House. I would appreciate it if anyone knows anything about them. Thank You, Anne Dufer (nee McGlasson)

Comments:	I have five direct lines to (multi) great grandfathers who served in the American Revolutionary War. William and Martin Pruitt, James Gano, John Crum and James Garrison. I am hoping to find another down Stephen Chapman's line. All of my families settled in Greene County, Illinois before 1850. The Pruitts were in west central Illinois in 1806. Stephen Chapman married Zachariah Wood's daughter Nancy in Missouri in 1826 and they moved to Greene County, Illinois before 1830. The Garrisons were there before 1830 as well. Eli Crum brought his family from Clark County, Indiana by covered wagon in 1841. And John Stephen Gano brought his family from Berckley County, Virginia (now West Virginia) by wagon to Kane Township in 1847. My roots run deep in that rich Greene County soil.

My g grandmother was married to Frank Poffenbarger, JR. I have found his grave but cannot find her. Her name was Lelia Shibley. My grandmother was Helen Poffenbarger Cline, I would like to find her gravesite. She died in 1920. Death certificate says she was burried near or in Meredosia?? Anyone know any of these people please contact me.

Comments:	My great-grandfather was Christian L. Meyer, born in Germany in 1842, immigrated to the US via New Orleans in 1854, and is buried in St. Paul's Lutheran Church cemetery in Arnezville, IL. My grandfather was Louis C. Meyer of Jacksonville, IL. My father, Elmer Lavon Meyer, was born in Jacksonville, IL in 1920. He graduated from Jacksonville H.S. in 1938. He moved to Washington, DC in 1940 and lived in suburban Virginia until his death in 1975. While I was born in Virginia, I have a fondness for Morgan County. My father's two sisters still live in Morgan County: Helen Meyer Schall, Baseline Road, Jacksonville; and Delores Mae (Meyer) Wilson of Murrayville. My father's brother, Charles F. Meyer, lives in Canton, MO. Thank you for promoting and preseving the genealogical history of Morgan County and its neighboring counites. Comments:	A really good site to explore. I hope I can figure out where they are buried one day. They were early immigrants to Illinois and came to Logan and Sangamon Counties before 1830. Peter was in 1830 census. He was living in Warren Co., KY in 1820. His wife was Elizabeth "Betsy" Briggs and I found probate for Thomas Briggs in 1832 Sangamon County where Peter G. Cowardin claimed his land. E 1/2 SE 1/4 Sec 18, T 19 N, R 3 E (80 acres). Charles was Peter's son b 1836 Illinois and served in the Illinois Army but mustered out in 1860 to join the Kansas Cavalry for the Union Army. His brothers also served in the Mexican war, George died at Cerdo Gordo, Mexico and John served in the civil war. George's children were living with Peter's family after his death. Perhaps someone can use this information. Would love information about burial place for this family and marriage records (Peter and Betsy were married in KY), Charles married Catherine L. (Levey or Lucy) Bender bet 1860-65. I have lots of information about this family and will share. I think you have a great site and will probably explore it again, and maybe visit the area someday (I live in California).

Comments:	I am researching Thomas & Mary Kincaid and who I believe to be their sons, John T. Kincaid and James Martin Kincaid. These Kincaids came to Illinois from Bath/Bourbon County Kentucky in the 1830s. All lived in the Menard County/Petersburg area. Children of John T. Kincaid were Leander and Wesley. Children of (James) Martin Kincaid and Louisa Bradley Kincaid were James T. (my gg-grandfather), Columbus, Permelia (married William King), Arminda (married James S. King) and Mary E. (married William Armstrong). Martin Kincaid died in 1849 and is buried in Old Concord Cemetery along with his parents and his 2 daughters Luann and Luellin. Also buried there is James A. King, son of Arminda and James S. King. Louisa Bradley Kincaid married Madison Higginbotham in 1855. All of the grown children of Martin Kincaid along with some of the Kings and the Higginbothams moved to SW Iowa about 1865-1870. I am looking for descendants of any of these families.

Levi was born in or about 1823 and died about 1851 and his wife remarried a Michael Keltner. I am told they were friends of Abe Lincoln and that Mr. Lincoln stayed in their boarding house that they ran and Matilda continued to run after Levi, (my gggg grandfather died at about the age of 29.

Your site is very resourcefull and well laid out. I know lots of work has gone into it. Thank you for doing all this work so we can get the information right on our desktop. Even though I do enjoy ruffling through the paper work searching for new information, I would rather see the country side and places where my ancestors lived. Take photos and such, not spend time indoors. We hope to take a tour of Illinois this summer and now I know all the areas to visit. I do have one question do you do research or lookups ? I'm trying to find Nathan's first wife, the mother to my grandfather Alfred Hart.

Comments:	My grgrgrgrandmother Eleanor,aka Helen, Hogan and her son Isaac C. Hogan arrived in Macoupin Co. from Shelby Co., Ky. in 1835. Both are thought to have died there and are buried in unmarked graves, possibly the Hogan Cemetery in No. Palmyra Twp. Nothing known beyond that concerning their stay in Macoupin Co. Any help would be most appreciated. I have visited several county sites in Indiana, Kentucky and Virginia and yours is the best. Keep up the good work.
