Five Hedrick brothers and Coblin Hedrick and his family immigrated from Germany to the United States to Pennsylvania, about the same time. One of the brothers moved to North Carolina started a line, One to Virinia started a line(moved back to Pennsylvania#, three stayed in Pennsylvania for about 50 years before the next move to Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, then around 1850 further west. Many of my ancestors were on the Oregon wagon trains in 1850/1860's. I will probably die before I get them all in the right lines.

My family was Pennsylvania; John b. 1772; Ohio; son, Henry b.1810, Henry's son George Washinton b.1843, Henry's daughter Cintha b. 1845, moved to Indiana in 1847 3 more children and 7 more generations.

I am researching all Hedrick Lines to discover John's #1772) wife Sophia's maiden name.

Thank you for all the research you have done.

Captain Phillip Hedrick of Henry County, Indiana was a Pennsylvania Hedrick descendant, his family has strong ties to Henry & Rush counties to this day.

Again, thank you for your research.

What surname are you researching Hedrick
How did you find this site googled Hedricks who were married in Preble County OH
Comments:
I noticed that you have a Philip Hedrick b abt 1815 with no other information. My Philip Hedrick was b 15 Sep 1809 in PA married in Montgomery County OH in 1829. I was trying to trace Hedricks married in either Preble or Montgomery Counties OH to see if my Philip could be related. Philip married Maria(h) Chambers. In the 1850 census in Preble Couny OH the last name is spelled Hedrick. In the 1860 census in La Salle County IL it is spelled Hetrick. My mother said that her father had told them that the spelling had been changed. Philip's son Philip was buried in La Salle County in 1852 under the name Hetrick. The tree you have is the first one that I have seen where my gg-grandfather might be a fit. Do you have any other information on the Philip Hedrick you have b abt 1815? Maria Hedrick is listed in her father's (John Chambers) will with the Hedrick spelling. When I found several of the other Hedricks who were married in Preble County OH in your tree, I was very excited. If you would like to see my tree with Philip and his descendents let me know and I will send you you a link to it.
Thanks for your help,

How did you find this site World Connect
Comments:
I need your help very badly. I am half higginbotham. My mother was a granddaughter of William Green Higginbotham and Great granddaughter of John Green Higginbotham.
I am having trouble with some of the Thomas Jefferson Higginbotham. There are so many of them. My problem is that I am perfect, never making a mistake. (Guess that is bcause I am 85 years of age and have learned to lie very well).
The problemis, that I have been looking at Oootsweb;s World Connect and am finding many things that cannot be correct. Several have the same children listed for T J and and "Juith" Thomas as does T J and Judith Burris have. I notice that you list T J's wife as Mary Thomas, which, I guess, confuses me more. Their dates of birth for T J range from 1705 to 1737. Your birth date for T J matches those on Find a grave. What I need to know is who was the father of your T J?
You do not show any chikdren for T J and Mary. Is this Mary Thomas you list different from the Judith Thomas that others list?
I like how you have done your data on world Connect. Hope you can help an old man out.

What surname are you researching Nightengale/Nightingale
How did you find this site Glynn County Probate Court staff referral
Comments:
As you know published info relating to mulattos and their families (white/black ancestors) is rarely available to the general public. Glynn County Court staff and your bio indicate that you are the most knowledgeable genealogist of the Coastal families of Georgia. My wife's grandfather, James Nightengale (Florida) and grandmother Mary Nightengale [maiden name possibly Morris] (Georgia) lived between Florida and Georgia. A Record found in the Georgia archives indicates that a James Nightingale and Mamie A. Morris were married in McIntosh County, Georgia in 1890. Three of their children (Leslie, Julia and Willie) were born in Georgia and a 4th child (James) was born in Florida. Subsequent family documents indicate that one of the parents was Caucasian and that the other appeared to be was mulatto. Children of this marriage subsequently moved to Connecticut (Leslie) and Pennsylvania (James and Willie). Draft registration records documented the males as being colored, mulatto and black. We are trying to determine whether or not the grandmotherís maiden name was Morris or was she possibly an unrelated Nightingale. We are also trying to obtain information on the dates of death for both James and Mary. One other bit of information, there appears to have been another male born into the family by the name of Benjamin who was born in or about 1905 and who died in Philadelphia in November, 1958.
Uncle Leslie indicated to my wife when she was about 12 years of age that his family was descendants of the Phineas Miller Nightingale family. Although this seems plausible based on research on Phineas, since data indicates that he and his offspring were owners of large numbers of slaves, and that these persons of color were separate from the recognized family. Of course, some of this information is pre and post Civil War, which brings me to the statement in the beginning that this information is very difficult to ascertain since it is not available to the general public. As you can see, we are in need of whatever information you may possibly share with us given the aforementioned. We would greatly appreciate your doing so.

What surname are you researching Hedrick
How did you find this site Google search
Comments:
Hi!
You have noted that John William Hedrick, son of John Hedrick and Susanna Hornung, died in Grant County, Indiana, on October 13, 1841. You also have noted that he married Maria Magdalena Waggoner on Dec. 5, 1798, in Pittsylvania Co., VA. The reason I'm writing is that I doubt the validity of the information as I don't believe that John William Hedrick ever left Rockingham County, VA.

I descend from John William Hedrick's sister, Mary Magdalene Hedrick, who married Henry Sellers, Sr. in 1789. On May 3, 1800, John William Hedrick and Henry Sellers, Sr. (brothers-in-law) pooled their money and jointly purchased 1500 acres in Rockingham County, VA. The land shared a boundary with land first granted to John William's father, John Hedrick, in the 1860s. Additionally, John William's son, also named "John Hedrick", was born in 1790 in Rockingham County, VA, some 8 years prior to John William's listed marriage to Maria Waggoner in Pittsylvania County, VA.
John Hedrick, son of John William Hedrick, married Lydia Nicholas on January 13, 1816, in Rockingham County, VA. John, the son, and wife Lydia Nicholas never left Rockingham County, VA. I have copies of letters written to various family members by John and Lydia's 7th child, Margaret Hedrick, while they were all still living in Rockingham County, VA. The evidence is circumstantial, but I have no record of John William Hedrick ever leaving Rockingham County, Virginia, especially since his son remained there on the homestead his entire life, and nothing showing that he ever married outside of Rockingham County, VA.
I'm curious as to the source of your information which shows that John William Hedrick of Grant County, IN, is the same John William Hedrick of Rockingham County, VA. I don't mean to sound like a know-it-all, and I could certainly be wrong. But, the data and records I have all point to John William Hedrick being born, marrying, and dying in Rockingham County, VA. I'm very interested in any details you're willing to share that might show otherwise.

Thanks for your time!

Michael Sellers

Also, the U.S. Fed. Census bears this out also.

How did you find this site From a Google site
Comments:
My Browne family started with the Richard Browne/Mary Masters of Puddington England and their sons William & James future residents of Wrightsboro.. I guess I'm concentrating more on the English side which is so complex..after all the Betchworth Brownes descended from Thomas and Eleanor and they had seven sons and there were an awful lot of Johns and Francis's mixed in which means we have just one tantalising link to lock the entire family in place, and every clue we find opens the door to more and more probabilities and the possibility that perhaps we're going up the wrong garden path.. but I do envy your professionalism and only wish I had joined the "Net" searchers a lot earlier than the three months ago that I did.. My grandfather Charles who was really Bert Brown from Pulaski County in Indiana started me on what has become an obsession and quite possibly you're Brownes in Indiana are cousins of my Brownes ..it is indeed a small world..many thanks..

Amy,

I forwarded your website on to a friend of mine (old co-worker) by the name of Ellie Harrell. She is really into genealogy. Harrell is her married name (married to Dan) and I am sure she has probably done some research on her husband's family also. I cannot believe the pictures you have!

My great-great grandfather was John Allen married to Catherine Fouts. They moved from Guildford Co., NC. to Pinhook, Lawrence Co., IN. in 1820.
I had hoped our Allen's were related, but I am doubtful. As far as I know my Allen's were from VA. and NC..

Amy, My husband is directly related to George Washington Allen, b. 7 Aug 1891 in Cane River, Yancy Co. NC to John Wesley Allen (b.abt Aug 1858) and Sarah Kate Wilson (b. abt May 1867) they were married 18 Dec 1884 in Yancy Co., NC.
Sadly George was hit by a car while crossing the street here in Coronado, CA and died 20 Mar 1980. George or Skipper as he was called, joined the USNavy...and served in both world wars. His book is "Seaman to Admarial/Sails to Atoms". If your research includes this line, I would really appreaciate any information.
