Are you the Cliff Moen who sketched downtown St Paul in the Landmark Building in the 60's or early 70's? My father bought one of your sketches when he worked downtown.
All of his children appreciate the sketch. Do you continue to sketch/draw?

Hi Marilyn and Cliff: It was such fun visiting with you. My mom enjoyed it so much. She got to go to the Barnesville Potato Days and she was so excited. I am working on getting the Lawndale pictures from Stan Carlsrud together for you. Will send them off as soon as I get a minute. I am supposed to be semi-retired yet Disney keeps me working four days a week. I don't have time for work, have so many ancestors to track down!!! Thanks again, Janice and June Krueger

Hi,
I'm researching last name Lofthus, from the village of Lofthus on the Hardanger Fjord in Hordaland with connections in Bergen and Haugesund, Rogaland. I noticed you're searching for Rasmussens. I grew up and graduated with a girl named Dagney Rasmussen in Prince Rupert, BC Canada. Unfortunately, there is no phone listing for Rasmussen there anymore. www.canada411.com is our national on-line phone book but I see Rasmussen is quite common. Lofthus on the other hand, only 2 in the UK, 2 in Canada and 667 in the US. You have a very nice web-site and have provided some very promising links. Wish I could speak Norwegian!
Kind regards,

When I removed a print from it's broken frame.... low-n-behold.... behind it is a beautiful sketch done by Cliff Moen in 1969. It depicts a wonderful historical collage of St. Paul, Minnesota. I love it! I've lived in the Twin Cities (basically) my entire life. Raised in St. Paul. What a treasured find! I had to look up the artists/illustrator's name on the internet. No surprise that Cliff Moen has illustrated in many, many, many books over the years. Instead of re-framing the original print I had planned on -- now (I'm pretty sure) I'll end up framing my Cliff Moen 33-year old collage instead. It's great! It must measure at least 24" by 30" (I'm guessing). I'll have to go to a book store and check out one of your many illustrated books that I see you did with Cliff Jacobson. Thank you for a rare, unexpected, pleasant find! Laurie (a new fan)

He served in the 15th Wisconsin (Norwegian) Regiment in the Civil War. He married Marie Bergo and they had 6 children. Several of the children including Theodore, my grandfather ended up in N Dakota. Two daughters married two Hefta brothers in Northwood and as a result, there are now more Heftas than Klabos who are descendants of Kittil and Marie. My great-grandfather (a mysterious sort)was Kittel or Kjetil Olson Moen. He married Guro Olsd. Rui Muhle in 1898 in Moorhead and according to the 1900 census was born August 1859 in Norway. I think I may have connected him with a Kittel Olson Moen from Fyresdal in Telemark (where Guro came from) but then again he could be from somewhere else in Norway, too! He didn't stay in the marriage long, apparently due to a difficult stepson, and took off. Supposedly there were rumors he married again elsewhere. Would be curious if this sounds like anyone in your Moen group.

I am origionally from a farm by Waterville, Minnesota; kind of by Mankato, in LeSeuer County. Esther died in the 1980's at an old age, but I am not sure how old. I believe she and her husband (Walter Wetzel) lived in or by an old town called Cannonville, Minnesota; it too was in LeSueur County. I believe they owned the creamery there. Please get back to me with any information you find. I will share what I know as soon as I talk with my aunt (Judy Domonoske). If we have made a family connection here, I am sure Judy will want to talk with you too.

Grace Elizabeth Swanby, would be one of my grandfathers' Brothers Daughters. My Grandfather was Ole Pederson Swanby. His daughter, Roseanna Charlotte Swanby, is my mother. My mother married Louis S. Bjorklund. They lived in Minneapolis, Minn. Both have since deceased. My mother's father, was Hans Peter Swanbys' Brother. He in turn, was Grace Swanbys'father.(Hans Peter Swanby) I am looking for information on my Grandfathers wife. Andrena,Bjolgerud. Ole P.Swanby & Andrena were married about 1888, and they lived in Washburn, Wisconsin. I can't seem to find any info.on her maiden name. In Norway, they often took the name of the Parish, or Farm from where they came. So Bjolgerud is just the name she used, and I don't know her parents real name. If you know, let me hear from you. Thank You: Jim Bjorklund E-Mail: maxims@gateway.net

Do not think there is a link here but thank you for the absolutely wonderful journey to the past! This is my husband's family of which we know very little. His grandfather was Francis Ronning born abt 1917. Parents: Norman Ronning and Marie? Ronning. Norman was born in Minnesota. There is a link of some sort to a homestead at some time in Montana (near Malta) and then a homestead in Minnesota - near Kenyon. He had many siblings: Glen, Phillip, Thelma, Orpha, Marilyn, Jocylen, Norman, and C. Neale. Thanks again, Barb
