Congratulations on the excellent documentation of your family.

I don't have any suggestions but hope you can point us in the right direction to find one of my ancestors.

Hannah Heward is related to me through my late mother, Dorothy Dewhirst. Dewhirst-Wiggins-Heptinstall-Seaton-Heward.

Joshua Seaton, who was killed at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, married Hannah Heward.

Our problem is that we are looking for the birh of Mary "Leaton", daughter of Hannah "Leaton" (IGI). She was christened in 1816 in Castleford. but on all the census she gives her year of birth as 1817.

Mary married William Heptinstall.

If you could shed any light on Mary's birth, it would be very much appreciated.

I live in New South Wales, Australia.

Best wishes,

Evelyn Prineas

Hi Lesley,

I stumbled across a link to your page completely by accident. I have recently started researching my family tree and suspect that Emily Ann Holt, who appears on your family tree as the daughter of Thomas Holt, may be my great great grandmother. My ancesters originated around Birmingham, Dudley & Stourbridge but moved up to Lancashire just before the turn of the century. If I am correct, Emily An Holt married Jabez Bache in Dudley in 1868. If it's the same person, I have a record of her death which was registered in West Derby (just outside Liverpool) in the final quarter of 1903. I note from your tree that you believe she died in Litchurch, Derby some time after 3rd April 1871. Is this correct or is it possible from your research that she didn't actually move to Derby but to Liverpool with her husband and family?

Regards,

Andrew Bache

I am interested, in a roundabout way, in one of your late husband's ancestors John HAWKSLEY (1801-) of Belper. According to my research he married Ann WARDLOW at Wirksworth in 1827, and then had at least 5 children including your husband's ancestor Elizabeth HAWKSLEY b. c.1835.
I recently discovered that a John HAWKSLEY - and I believe it's the same person - was also named in a Bastardy Bond dated 1817 as the father of a unborn child by Frances PAYNE of Mickleover. This child was later baptized as William PAYNE on 27 April 1817, and subsequently went to live in Church Gresley, Derbyshire.
Please get in touch if you're interested in exchanging further information about the descendants of William PAYNE.

Regards and best wishes, - and Happy Christmas etc!

Dear Lesley, great site with lots of interesting notes! It looks as though your husband's grandmother was the sister of my grandmother, Rose Camps, who married my grandfather, Harold Sansom in Nottingham in 1911. I have their marriage certificate and Rose's father is given as Ephraim Camps. I also have a photo of "Nanny Camps" aka Sarah Ann Hargreaves as a very old lady. Not sure if my e-mail reached you as the address looks like two addresses run into one. Will be pleased to swap info and photos. Regards

Greetings and congratulations on your website! I have been looking into my Bacon and Worthy ancestors on and off for a few years but have only just been given a computer by my daughter who thought I ought to get into the C21st - hence I have only just found your site. I can probably add some Worthy data if you would like, but am particularly interested in the Miles Bacon you have born before 20 Jan 1815 and 3rd child of Jeremiah Bacon. I'd always thought that the Miles in our family tree was born about 1795, and was the son of John Bacon, deported after the Pentrich Revolution. Best wishes
