I have no Barnwell relations but am researching Edward, John, and Robert Barnwell, Revolutionary soldiers aboard the prison ship Packhorse off Charleston SC. The pension application of Edward's widow is fascinating(http://www.southerncampaign.org/pen/w8352.pdf). The list of prisoners is a Who's Who of the colonial SC elite and includes other surnames I noticed on the guestbook, including Elliott and Desaussure. Thought some might be interested.

Hi, I've been very curious about the Barnwell name. Hi all, I just stumbled upon this website and I think it is great. My father was Ellis Donald Barnwell (Buzzy) originally from Georgia, moved on to South Florida. He married Barbara L. (Michaels) Barnwell and they had 5 children (Tammy, Donna, Michael, Scott and Jill). My grandparents were Ellis Clay and Ruth Vernell Barnwell. calling all barnwells!!!!!!! glad to see you all out there in barnwell connection land. i'm carol julian barnwell recent resident of texas after about a 20-yr stint in the big apple. i suppose we acquired the name barnwell a couple hundred of years ago, or so. . . you know the history. nonetheless, it is what it is. we're proud of where we originated and equally as proud of who we have become. the name barnwell is very well recognized on the island of st. vincent, west indies. my father's people trace back a few generations well on this beautiful island. we have done very well there and in the states as well (present company included). i'd love to get as much history as possible from those of you who know as well as catch up with others about the history as i know it from my dad and his family. let's get chatting!
