I just read your trip to Brule. Very nice. I have printed it for my in-laws. They have lived in the house east of the Congo Church there in Brule for over 50 years. They are visiting us here in Daytona Beach and as we are nearing a record of 25 inches of rain (total) over the last 4-5 days, the internet has become my best friend!
My family is from Brule, my parents and grandparents as well as one set of great grandparents and many, many other relatives are buried in the Brule Cemetery.
Thank you for posting your visit to our old stompping grounds! Gayle

Bob,
Thank you for some enjoyable experiences. I am a68 year old, retired high school teacher. I taught English and Social Studies for 42 years in PA. During my early career, I also taught elementary.

I watched your Photoshop tutorial on Youtube, and I really enjoyed it. When I came to your website, I was pleased to see that you have an interest in genealogy. SO do I. I have been using Family Tree to trace my family. My ancestors were Slovak, and the changing spelling of names as they came to and lived in this country is confusing, but interesting. I hope to develop materials and a presentation for my daughters and my two grandsons.

I also taught adult computer classes on using Power Point and other software. I am not familiar with how you developed a tutorial showing a computer screen and having a voice-over. Do you think you could find the time to let me know how this was done? What software, etc. is needed. I would love to develop some tutorials, mostly for my grandson, to share with others.

Please help me if you can, and thanks again for the great tutorial and genealogy page.

Hi Daddy, Just passing by the site looking at what's new and happened to see on your timeline that it says that you were "unjustly" accused of killing my tree Fluffy... If you didn't kill my little tree.... then where is it now resting? And don't say that it's still there, or in a better place, cause we all know that you had done a LOT of "weeding" that fateful day that Fluffy disappeared...

I still love you even though you happened to dispose of that little air cleaner the 4th grade class was given by YOUR employer, Boeing. :) Love you lots, Daddy!!

Love, Anne

However, and I am sure you know the answer, when it is dark and the pumpkins are lit, the flash automatically comes on and the picture doesn't turn out. How do we take the pic and have the flash NOT come on? It would be great to hear from you. You are a master !! Thank you. Suzi

What a great job you have done on your website! I found it through a relative of mine in Oregon who added a link to your site. And now I've met another relative!! Your grandfather Frank and my grandmother Ella were brother and sister.

I really enjoyed reading the journals and letters from Alaska and Dawson City sent to our great-grandmother in Illinois.

And the photos of Herbert Harm Keiser, the Wm. J. Zimmerman farm & as well as William & Mary gave me a glimpse into the heritage of my ancesters which I never knew.

Hope to meet you some day in person.

hi there!

my family and i were migrant farm workers back in the 70's and 80's. we used to go to a farm in brule for many many years. we used to work for the same farmer, norman frates. i have alot of mixed emotions as i remember the long days in the hot nebraska sun. there were no outhouses back then. i clearly remember the sound of the insects all around us as we worked in the bean fields and the beet fields. i also remember the crop dusters spraying insecticides while we were in the middle of the fields. hopefully, there were will be no health hazards to us now.

we were family of 11. i happen to be the second to the youngest. i am proud to say that i know have my college educaton with a bachelor of arts in psychology. this has helped me immensly. it has opened to doors of opportunities for me yet greater are the doors to my heart. i can look back and remember the looks on the people's faces when they saw just dirty uneducated mexican labor. i have accomplished several of my life's goals and have others to yet see.

i really don't know why i wrote this, i suppose it is becuase i wanted someone to hear a bit of my story. i would love to pay a visit to bruel and ogalalla someday. until then...

respectfully yours

eddie ramirez

Hello, I just stopped by to pay my respects to Carol. I am the sister of Carol Burnham Diosdado. The two Carol's were the best of friends since we were teens. I haven't seen Carol for many years, but what I remember most about her was the laughter. We used to laugh til we cried and our sides hurt. I know she has had a somewhat troubled life and thank God she had people like you who cared so much for her. She was much too young to leave this world and her son, but she is at peace now and will never hurt again. Only time will help heal the pain of losing her. I hope you and all of Carol's loved ones will find comfort in your memories of happy times with Carol. May God be with you and bless your family.

I have enjoyed reading this very much. I was born and raised in northeastern Nebraska in the early "dirty thirties". I really enjoy going back there often to see the old family farm house, country schoolhouse, and cementary. All over Nebraska rural areas there are a lot of empty farm buildings and shrinking small towns. It is very sad to see with a lot of memories.

Happy May Day, Bob! I just took a nostalgic trip down Memory Lane by reading through your diary entries from the 1970's. So many things I had completely forgotten about turned up there.... For instance, I just learned that in September of this year I will have lived in West Seattle for 30 years--which is pretty remarkable when you consider that I have trained my husband to tell people that I am only 28 years old! Of course, I have also had to train him to tell people that my daughter Trinity is my younger sister--since she turned 28 years old two weeks ago. Ya' know, life just keeps getting more complicated.... Thanks for keeping such a great diary, Bob. What a wonderful gift you have given to your family and friends! Keep up the good work, my friend.

I'm so glad I stopped by. I'll have to come again ... and again. This is so creative! A visitor can see everything in your life that is important and meaningful, but there is also a certain intimacy here. You've been able to achieve a great balance between these two, AND put in some items with great humor!

What a wonderful sight, and a tribute to two loving partners that have a wonderful understanding of each other. When the thread is spun so tight, the result is a string of love that can never break! All the blessings to your family, and Valorie thank you for sharing the link.

This is to thank you for the photos and information about the Civil War grave off Hwy. 410 - both interesting and poignant. I believe the family was correct in deciding to leave him buried in the forest he loved; probably anyone who is familiar with the area would agree! Thanks for sharing this information - best wishes, Karlynn (now in northern California, but fortunate enough to have lived in the Cascades for three years!)

Hi, I found two "items" on your web pages which I also like very much: the clever and intelligent dachshounds and Studebaker pickups from the fourties and fivties.
When I visited the States this year I really spent a very good time in your country...

Many greetings from Germany, Wolfgang.

Hi Bob--

I was doing a Google web search for Harold Hamon -- my old minister -- when I found him listed in your page. I spent a couple summers at Little Rockies Youth Camp and hunted their one fall. (I also spent another summer just north of there, building grain bins in Canada for college money.) I'm a little younger than you -- I was good friends with Al Hamon (Del's younger brother). I also knew Bob Davies -- though I hadn't really thought about him in a long, long time.

Strange how small the world can be sometimes. Thanks for the site. Very interesting.

My father-in-law knows your mother. They went to school together. We own the auto salvage yard in Brule. I printed you web pages for Jarvis & he was very excited to read about your trip. He mentioned that he did not get to see your mom when you visited several years ago. He showed your story to Orva (Kampfe) Larson & now I am printing a copy for her as well. Jarvis was wondering if you were related to any of the Zimmermans from Big Springs NE?

I found your web pages from the 'freepages' list messages I belong to. I think you've done a wonderful job with your stories and photo's on your pages. And I think your pet's are great too!
What a nice place to visit, your world is full of interesting topics and caption's to go with them, which keep the interest going throughout the site.
Thank You for taking the time to make these to share with us.
I flew to CHINA a few years ago and was able to see Mt. Rainier from above, it is just as beautiful as your picture's too! The day we flew over there was an accident which caused a fire. And that part was sad. But, it was a spectacular view I will Never forget.....

Thanks for putting together the story, I'll share it with my family.

Just had to drop in and say hello! I've just been working on my Zimmerman line, and came across your page. Ironically my connection to the Zimmerman family began with my marriage to Bob Zimmerman! That's Robert Ervin Zimmerman. His ancestry came from the Hamburg area of Germany, his father being "Ervin", Grandfather "Ferdinand", Great grandfather "Julius Ferdinand". Nice web page!

Hi! I stopped by at the suggestion of Valorie. I know her
from her infinitely wise and benevolent guidance on the Rootsweb's Newbie Listowner list. I'm planning to put together a website or three for the surname lists I host.

The photos here are wonderful! Somehow you've managed to capture the larger than life personalities of your family, both the two legged and the four legged.

By the way, one of my boys, Ian, looks just like your Snicker. Ian found me when he crossed my path on Halloween (believe it or not!) in 1996. Of course I was dressed as a witch. Ian is polydactl (did I spell that right?)--it looks like he's wearing mittens. And of course he knows that when he closes his golden eyes in a dark room I cannot see him.
Take care,
Colleen O'Byrne

Having been a member of SPEEA before it got any guts, back when, I am so happy to see that they have found guts. Still this team stuff is not where it's at in my opinion. Boeing was much better when it was a family. Forsted retirement in "96", was not happy, but am glad to have been around before this present bunch of............ got in charge. Good for SPEEA anyway. Am a Baysinger researcher, thats where I got your site. It is quite good, and I have enjoyed seeing it.
