Hello. My name is Kay Flavell. I'm editing a local history of Kaiparoro, in the northern Wairarapa of NZ. Only information on Frances King, wife of Francis McAnulty, is that she came from Cornwall to NZ via a shipwreck in Mauritius. Would love to find her family and place of origin in Cornwall. And to learn more about that shipwreck!

John Kelly is the brother-in-law of my great-great grandmother, Mary Kelly. He was born c.1821 in Antrim, N. Ireland and was the captain of a ship that went down in a hurricane off Mauritius in January 1866. His brother William was also a captain of schooners (Miles Barton, Merrie England) that sailed to Australia and India in the mid-19th century. I'm looking for informations about Captain John Kelly and the ship that was wrecked in Jan.1866 off Mauritius.

Comments:
John and Robert Worthington came out to Otago in 1861 as their father did not want them to have a life at sea. They settled in South Canterbury.

Their father, Post Captain Edward Victor Worthington, R.N., 1785 -1865, was a master mariner and in the 1830s and 1840s Captain of Vessels and Trade at Port Louis. He was present at the capture of the 'Isle of France' and commanded two of the Colonial vessels at that place. He had arrived in Mauritius from India.
