Hi there,

On a similar search; All the family stories are there but no proof. Think my family slipped past the rolls. Dad said Grandpa tore up the papers and told grandma no one needs to know who we are. He and his family were chased out ot TN down to your area in about 1887. It was in the aftermath of the Civil War. Locals and groups "helped" with the Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek removal. Everyone wanted the land. I am sure you know what i mean. Surnames follow: Ny link to them would be great.

Hello,
My Franks family history goes to Southern Alberta, Canada and then to Idaho, Utah and Montana. We have been unable to trace our Great Grandpa John Franks as he gave several places of birth on several censuses during his lifetime. He is listed as being born in Michagan, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin. We think he didn't want to be found and may in fact have been born in the southern states. He was born April 14, 1834 and died in Silver City, Idaho April 26, 1894.

I have a picture of Ruth Kizer Franks who attended Wayland Baptist College in 1923 and was a friend of my grandmothers.
It's a long shot, but the picture that is of Ruth on this page is uncanny in its resemblance of this Ruth Kizer Franks. I know nothing else of her, but I could email her picture if you would like to explore.
I'm sure the college might have records of her hometown.
Best wishes.

What a wonderful idea!!! Trying to research my family history and found a Frank in my tree. Henry Frank came to IL from VA, now WV, via a few years in OHIO. He settled in IL and IN. Descendants were, (so far, that I know of), 3 sons: Aaron, Isaac, and Henry. Isaac's 2 sons were Grand Chain and Aaron Jr.. Grand Chain had a daughter named Jeanettia (Jane) Franks. Jane had a son named Robert Hill, Robert had a son named Jennings Hill.

Thank you for any help you may provide.

I was searching for an ancestor of mine and ran across your site. I would appreciate any info you have on Mary Polly Franks Williams or Polly Ann Franks Williams. We think she was born around 1852 and died around 1920. We aren't sure where she was born, but she lived and probably died in Alabam, around The Walker or Marion County areas. She was married to Eliga Williams. He was born around 1860 and died around 1931. They would be my Great- Great Grandparents.

I was born in 1924 to William Martin and Sallie Haygood Franks of Wheeler, MS. My grandfather was Mark Franks from Germantown, TN. My dad's oldest brother was Jesse Dee Franks, who is listed in "Mississippi The Heart Of The South"...which states that Franks family in this country was started by three brothers...Martin, Lewis and Mark Franks, who came over with the French Hugenots to escape religions perecution. I understand that uncle J.D. left extensive family history records at a college where he taught, after WWII, in Hopkinsville, KY. He was a Baptist minister, and spent 7 years based in Switzerland, after WWII, representing the Southern Baptist Convention, assisting rebuilding Baptist Seminaries in Germany. Do you have any information that would connect with this?

Hi,

I too am trying to trace my family tree and have been for the last couple of years. My Grandparents on
my mothers side of the family, Jewell Hall Russell & Myrtie Givens, for which I have very little information.
I use FamilyTree Maker and if it possible to share files with you I would be very interested in doing so.
I currently live in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, but travel extensively. I have been in contact with the Russell Family, which has added much to my family tree. The Moffett side of the family is pretty thin, since they appear to have
been rather nomadic and did not keep in touch much. My Grandfather, Albert Louis Moffett, was born in Pine Bluff
Arkansas, as were most of his 6 borthers. If you are interested in sharing any information, please don't hesitate to contact me at russmo@sault.com or dundiggin@aol.com.

Regards,

Russ Moffett

My Grandmother was Dora Jane Franks. She was at least half, if not all Native American, and was from Oklahoma. She was an orphan and was adopted by the Caton Family who took her to New Mexico. I know she lived around Ada, Ok. and she had brothers and a sister who were taken away by the "Catholics" and put on a train. She never saw them again. I have not been able to find any info on Granny.
She told me that she was from the Chickasaws, but my mother said she thought it was the Commanche tribe. I don't think I recognized any names in your family, but I keep looking.
Thanks, Janice
