Did you attend the reunion? sorry to say, no
Comments:
Hello, I was unable to attend the reunion because I attended the d'Eon/d'Entremont reunion in Pubnico NS.
My mother Marie Therese d'Eon DeLorey was born in Pubnico..1910 and just passed away 5/10/09. Her mother was a Robichaud. My father was a DeLorey and his father Paul and grandfather Paulphere (Porphyre) were born in Tracadie. His mother was a Landry. All four family reunions were going on at the same time!!
In the mean time...my husband and I have visited my paternal ancestral home which was occupied by "cousin" Rita DeLorey. She was gratious enough to let us visit with her.
I promised to send her photos of Paulphere etc but of course time ran away from me and I never did. I just heard that the home is not occupied anymore. I am concerned for Rita. I believe she said her nephew was Hurley DeLorey. If this email reaches him or can reach him I would like to know info on Rita...if she is okay...can I still send photos?....etc or...I can email photos to Hurley perhaps.

We had a wonderful time, hope we can do this again, and a bit sooner than 100 years. Linda DeLorey Mosher is our connection. She is my mother and hails from Western Shore, Lunenburg, N.S.

I and five siblings are from Lilian Delorey. She grew up in Tracadie. I visited the family farm there. One Fall I attended the West Arm school because there was a dangerous flu epidemic in Boston were I grew up. My Uncle Clarence was a teacher at that school.

Comments:
That was a wonderful, perfectly organized Family Reunion. Thank you to all the organizers from the Tracadie area, as well as all the hard work done by Mary Ferguson. It was a great success.

It was so great to see all my cousins I normally don't see on a regular basis as well as meet new cousins. It was very interesting speaking to some of my new found family to find out where they're from and what they do for a living. There was one gentleman who pulled me aside and had to show me to his brother because he thought I looked so much like their niece. I am #24 in the picture. I think the gentleman's last name was Ahern, so if you are reading my message you owe me a picture of your niece. Please e-mail it to me.

As I do every year, this summer will be no different and I will be taking my family to Tracadie and spending time with family and friends for two weeks. My mother and sister still reside in Tracadie.

Looking forward to another reunion someday soon!

Cindy

Comments:
My husband Paul,an Episcopal priest, said grace for us at the banquet. I just came across his prayer and thought that I'd post it.

God Our Father, we thank you for bringing us together as one family and ask your blessing upon us, your children.

From north to south, from east to west, we have come to a land made sacred by the memory of our ancestors. But we come not only to honor their memory but mainly to revive their spirit, a spirit of strong faith in God and in one another, a spirit of courage to stand for what is right, true and just.

We pray that we may return to our homes enriched by the legacy we have been given and ever resolute in our determiniation to share this treasure with our children and other generations to come.

We ask your blessing...

We add at this time, God bless us everyone. A happy and blessed New Year.

I have flown down from Yellowknife, NorthWest Territories (very close to where Santa Claus is)and had an absolutely wonderful time. Visiting with relatives whom I have not seen in many years and meeting new family members sure was very enjoyable. Thanks to those who have worked very hard to make our reunion a very special occasion. I certainly would love to participate in any future family reunions.

If so, what did you like the best about it? The opportunity to meet the many cousins that I have been corresponding with for several years.
Comments:
While attending the reunion, I decided to try and locate and photograph all of the "homesteads" of my many "DesLaurier" ancestors. So far I've located one line back to the patriarch Thomas Jacquet and have pictures of a few of the properties. I was actually on two pieces during the reunion and didn't know it. Took a picture just going by gut feeling and it turned out to be the property just north of Thomas Jacquet's grant and just east of his son Nicolas' grant. Have to go back and do it right. :-)

I loved everything about the reunion. I am so happy I went. Meeting an unknow cousin (Joe Delorey) was definitely the highlight of the weekend. I remember sending you an e-mail telling you which one I am in the photo but I'll let you know again that it's #59.

Keep up the good work. You did and continue to do an awesome job. Looking forward to future reunions.

My daughter Jamie, Aunt Mary Jane and I had a wonderful time! I only regret that there wasn't more time to visit with all the great folks that I've met over the years via the Internet who are also interested in our Delorey genealogy. Guess we'll have to do this again in a few years (maybe in Boston this time?)

Many, many thanks to the great people who worked so hard to make this event a reality: Duke & Donna Snyder, Fred & Marion Delorey, Joe & Veronica Delorey, Hurley Delorey, Lloyd Boucher, just to name a few. Your efforts are most appreciated!

I didn't even know there was a reunion until someone at work came up and told me we were related. My grandfather, who has passed on was David Delorey Sr. My grandmother is very much into the genealogy stuff and wanted me to ask if anyone had some type of a family tree started, if so, she'd like to see it, and then hopefully she can add on some more of the family to the tree.
