Well, your website might be good if everything did not throw you into website that have a fee. These records should be a matter of public record (land records, wills, etc). Most people who have ancestors from Va. can't go there to research. The purpose of the genweb was, originally, to put all historical records on the web. What happened to that purpose?

They were from New Mexico and his dad worked for LS Ranch and mother was a nurse. I believe one of his relatives was Aunt Flo Day from Texas... (Amarillo I believe). I have tons of pictures with little info on them. Pictures of Mavericks, very large buildings and I know he was adopted at birth. He was born in 1927. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
my name is Veerle and i am Flemish :)
I noticed that my first name, that is very common in nowadays Flanders but has already been so for more than a century, is only mentioned in your list (flemish names in latin and french translations) in other forms like 'Verele', 'Verle' and 'Veerie' which are all rather UNcommon and i even dare to assume that 'Veerie' is a mistake and is supposed to be Veerle. Is that possible?
Anyway, the descent "PHARAILDIS" is right and i can back uo the french version that you stil showed with a question mark behind them.
With kind regards,
Veerle van Mansfeld

Researching family history can be exciting and extremely frustrating! I have discovered that I am your distant cousin...from the Nesmith side...on your website...listed in Generation #5 is my great-great-great-great-grandfather, Isaac Nesmith! Small world, huh??? I am trying to find relevant information pertaining to Isaac, his wife Nancy, or HER father, Benjamin Johnson, regarding their service or assistance in the Revolutionary War.

If you or anyone "in the family" can help me out, I would really appreciate it!

Your website is awesome! And here's some sad information...I saw on another site while I was searching for the above information that Howard Horner passed away in 2002. That's why all of his links are unavailable. I'm grateful that I stumbled across his website a few years back and printed out the whole 48+ pages of his research. Howard has done an incredible job researching his family history. God bless him!

Anyway, congrats on your newest family member and best wishes to all!

MY GG grandfather was Dr. Henry Day. He was born in Fauquier Co. Va in 1839. Served with the South during the war and received the Southern Cross of Honor from the Daughters of the Confederacy. Was honored in Newark, Ohio on Veterans day in 2000 for treating the soldiers of the North and the South. His mother was Lucretia Guthrie Day and his father -- we think was Baldwin Day. Looking for information on Baldwin Day and Guthrie families - late 1700 and early 1800.

Have much more information on the Dodd side since a trip to Newark last fall. Pics of Dr. Stephen Dodd's (Milledgeville, ILL) parents and three children's gravestones. Let me know if you can handle any more Dodd work, HA. Hope my note finds you all well. Regards, Dennis

Hello.
My name is Elsebeth Eriksen.
I´m a Danish pedagogue. My grandmothers fathers four siblings and their father immigrated to America in the years 1885 until 1889. The American immigrants Descendants have found me recently, and told me all the exiting stories about the immigrants. But the most exiting story is, that one of the immigrants continued his journey to Brazil, where he many years later in 1912 had a whiskeydistillery (and a plantation)in Santos. His name was Jacob Jensen Jacobsen. The Americans haven´t found him or any of his descendants. I would like very much if I could find some.
Best regards from Elsebeth Eriksen.-

I went to Monument Primary (after moving from Zim) & went to Krugersdorp High School (KHS) from standard 6 (1986) to standard 8 (1988), before moving with my brother, Antony Hall, and our parnts Rose & Peter Hall to Australia at the end of 1989. Unfortunately, have lost all contact with everyone i went to school with, and would love to hear from them-have forgotten all of their surnames, except my old best friend "Chantal Hendriks"-she has a sister "Tamara" & a Father "Eddie". Also (used to live in Krugersdorp) & also in Krugersdorp are the Hurlimans (Mr & Mrs with children (2 sons) Ian & Dale-did not go to school with them-my brother was friends with Ian-their youngest son) We lived in Potgieter St, Krugersdorp-amazing that I remember that after 16 years). Was born in '73 & would have matriculated in 1990, but moved to Australia (Perth), but am now located in Sydney. I have searched Krugersdorp High & could not find anyone-been a long time....Hoping you guys can "work your magic"???

I believe the John Horner sighted on your web site may be a relative of my Grandfather Homer Thomas Horner. Homer lived in or near Martinsburg, West Virginia.

The "Horner" family had family reunions once a year in the summer at the "War Memorial Park" in Martinsburg, WV.

Nesmith seems to me to be a familiar name in our family discussions.

What do you think?

I am researching my Mables family tree. My father is Raymond Vanderstyne's nephew. His mother's maiden name is Mables. Her mother's name was Adriana Maria Marsille. I e-mailed you a while back ...before I saw you couldn't help me . Many, many hours later I figured out how Jane Mables fit in with your family tree. It was making me crazy!!!! Funny thing is I figured it out by a comment my grandmother made once to my parents about Raymond Vanderstyne being her cousin. I want to thank you sooooo much for doing this research!!!! I just kept reading and reading until I found something to connect. I always heard of my great-grandmother as Jenny Marcellus. I did a family tree in high school and that's the name my grandmother gave me. That's why I was having a hard time. I saw on your work that Adriaan Mabelis married Adriana Maria Marsille. I just guessed from that and searched the birth and death dates to match. She was killed by a car getting the mail in 1956. Thank you for doing all the work for me. It has insprired me t finish the rest of my tree.

Hello,
I'm trying to find out more about my "Conwell" roots:) from what I know my ancestors come from Ireland. Our surname was changed when they arrived to Conwell from McConwell (1 aunt suggested that it might have been MacConwell). I know there was a split around the time of the Civil War. The main part of the family stayed in Ohio, but Thomas Conwell went to Missouri. I also found that a brother and a sister went to Wichita Kansas.
If any of this sounds familiar to anyone please let me know.
Thanks,
Kimberly

I find your site fairly good however as I am researching specifically in South Africa it is not really of help. I know the ships that probably brought out my ancesters, 1820 settlers to the Port Elizabeth area in the Cape, however I cannot find the ship nor the company anywhere. As I am trying to do it from New Zealand, the more information I have the less the cost to have it researched in South Africa. I found the site interesting however for just reading for interests sake. I am researching the Burtells (Burtles) family complicated by the fact that it was my great-grandfather's adoptive family's name, he was a German orphan. The maternal great-grandmother was a Fourie, and as there is only one original ancestor to the Cape of Good Hope, it is only a matter of tracing back. My paternal grandfather's side was Heath but I know his stepfather was a Potgieter. There were 2 Heaths in the original settlers but I am not sure which one it was. My grandfather was of the middle family his father's second marriage, mother's first, 22 children in all. But the more people put things on the internet the less distance matters, and the easier it is to find pointers and clues. Keep up the good work

We are still looking for our "brick wall" - the parents names of Elijah Day, wife, Jane. Born in Gibson Co., Indiana in 1820, moved to Illinois, where all the children were born. Then moved to Buena Vista Co., Iowa, died in 1880 and buried in Storm Lake, Iowa. This is a great website for all Day researchers.
