I am also looking for Rawstern, settled in carroll Co., Ia, Jasper co., and Audabon co., and Clayton co. Ia. I am looking for Alden and Kate Averill they had I believe two children are buried in Pott co. I think Red oak. I also am trying to find if they are buried there with their two children. I can't find them in Nebr. They lived there and in Calif. but are buried either Nebr. or Ia. I do not know who his parents were. His wife is Catherine (Kate) Booze Averill. She is my dads aunt. My gt. aunt. I hope you can shed some light on also. My gt. grandfather was James B. Booze, he married in Iowa in 1870.His wife was Clarinda they had a daughter Florence and she married a clarkson. Thanks.I would like to find that family of Clarksons. There are so many mysteries, that are unsolved. Please let me know how to obtain some of the data I need. I have found Elias Rawsterns sister (twin) Elisa Rawstern Wright I would like to find that family. Her husband was a professor in a college in I believe Jackson co. Ia. I enjoy genealogy. I am maping the Redfield, Greenlawn Cemetery, Redfield. SD, it is a large one and It will take about a year to do. as I am on the middle part. I only have 4 more rows to go. then go onto another middle part. If one is looking for a name or so let me know. I have about 20 rows done already. Some stones were sandstone and they have gotten broken or names and dates wore off. I can go to the courthouse and get that data for you if it is registered there. I found that some were not registered but was out at the cemetery. thanks, Shirley Gilbert

My gg-grandfather lived in the vicinity of Villasca in the mid 18th century. His name was Lemuel Phillips. I have in my possession his diary from 1860 and 1861. It is in good condition and I have it preserved with acid free paper between each page. It is a form diary using a form provided by one of the farmers newspapers at the time. I can find no reference to him or any of his family on the GenWeb site. His diary mentions the birth of my g-grandfather, Corydon, in 1861.
They left Iowa by wagon train sometime in the 1880's I think and ended up in western Wyoming.

Future information you would like to see? Article on restoration of Victory ship "Red Oak."
Comments:
I have information to share on my Burgum ancestors, who lived near Villisca in Arlington Township from 1872 until 1882, when they moved to North Dakota.//////
Secondly, the San Francisco Chronicle published (Feb. 12, 2007) an article on the restoration, in Richmond CA, on San Francisco Bay, of a Victory ship--the Red Oak. The mayor of Red Oak, Iowa, was present when the ship was launched in 1944. And again, the then mayor of Red Oak was present when it was towed to its present location in 1998. The ship is located in the Rosie the Riveteer National Historic Park in Richmond, CA, and can be visited; the restoration is attempting to get the steam engine functioning. I have the article in my email archive, but I think Montgomery County people might be interested in known about the Red Oak.

Keep up the great work! You have quite a bit of information but you know us genealogical hounds! We always want more. I was born in Red Oak. I am the daughter of Oscar (Joe) Graham and Mary (Janie) Johnson. My Mother has a twin sister, Jean Maire (Johnson) Oberthien, they were born in 1928 and graduated from HS in Red Oak. Harry Lampert Johnson was my grandfather. He raised and bred ponies when I was young. My grandmother Pauline Ameila (Ervin/Erwin) Johnson taught school in Red Oak and worked at the Red Oak Express. I remember going to have many hot roast beef lunches at the little cafe either right next door or down the street from the newspaper office. Thank you for your site!
