My ancestors have lived in Tabor since the 1860's,
and my father was born and raised in Tabor so I have deep
roots there. I'm sorry to say that I haven't been there often....maybe three or four times during my lifetime.

I've checked your website from time to time. Wow what a change and such a great improvement! That's what researchers are looking for, an informative county website. I believe I have traced my Great,Great,Grandmother to your county in the 1860 census. Her name was Cynthia Reel and one of her sons, Henry H. Reel is my Great Grandfather. Rev. William Gale married 19 Dec 1940 in Tabor, IA, Mary Alice Amelia WARD. He had attended a Nazarine Bible College. He came to Tabor, Iowa as a young minister. Their first child, Robert Austin GALE was born in 1940 or 1941 and died either at birth or in infancy and may have been buried in Tabor Cemetery or in the Wesleyan Cemetery of in some other cemetery in Fremont co, IA. I'd like to find this infant's grave.
The Hephzibah Faith Missionary Society, organized in 1893 later established headquarters at Tabor, IA. In 1948 it's Brainerd Indian School in Hot Springs, SD became part of the Wesleyan Methodist Church. Rev. William GALE became the head of the Brainerd Indian Training School and remained so for many years. He and his wife had 2 other chldren; adopted two others and had many foster children.

Hamburg was the town I grew up in and looking back it was the best place in the world to grow up. My Father served as hamburg's long arm of the law for many years and also for the county. I'm still in San Diego working for the Navy and will soon retire to my ranch in Saint Johns Arizona and hope to come back to Hamburg and have a look around and just remember how good it all really was.
