Hi, I saw your site and thought it was wonderful. I too have Crist in my line though the spelling has changed thru the years. The earliest I have seen in my line is a Micheal Christ/Crist/Criss b. abt. 1730 in Germany with a wife named Christina. They had 4 children that I know of, Henry, Lewis, Mary and Catherine. I know Henry was born in the Hessee-Cassell area. Our line eventually ended up in WV. By the time my mother was born the spelling of the name had changed to Cress. My mother was Nellie Virginia Cress d/o Densil Howard Cress. His father was Jacob Cress. Nellie married Kenneth Guy Young in Garrett Co., MD. I was so excited to see this site, I am hoping that somehow I might be able to connect and find some more of our line.
Thanks Sharon

I'm trying to respond to a Tom Steele, based on this URL: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ptsonline/stories/cristaccountbook.html
I tried the emails on your pages and they are no longer active.
My great-grandmother was Della Lee Crist (b. 1/17/1879 Anderson County, TX - d. 2/5/1920 - Latexo in Houston County, TX). Della married George Jackson Selman. Della died in child birth while giving birth to my great-aunt; Eldiwease Selman.
Here's my family line: (please forgive my format, I'm very new to genealogy)
I am the daughter of Janice Selman
Janice Selman is the daughter of Oscar Thurman Selman
Oscar Thurman Selman was the daughter of Della Lee Crist
Della Lee Crist was the daughter of William Harrison Crist (b. 5/15/1842 - d. 6/27/1897)
who was the son of Daniel Maury Crist (b. 4/15/1817 - d. 1840)
who was the son of George Heinrich Crist, Jr. (b. 6/1/1768 - d. 10/1/1845)
who was the son of George Heinrich Crist, Sr. (b. 11/23/1744 - d. 1/21/1823)
who was the son of Nicholaus Heinrich Crist (b. 10/29/1716 Germany - d. 2/11/1783)
who was the son of Johanne Jorge Nichlas Crist (b.1690 Emmerns, Germany - d. 2/1750 Emmerns, Germany)
My cousin, Della Selman Weisinger, compiled a lot of research and gave me a copy prior to her death a few years ago. I have excerpts from the Crist Account Book, and quite a lot of information about the Crist family.
Please email me if you have information about the Crist or Selman families.

This is truly a most interesting and enjoyable website - one of the best I've viewed, and I've viewed thousands or more. Thanks for taking the time and effort to share so much about the Kanawha Va area. I have many relatives from and around there. Although I've driven through this beautiful area I've never had - or taken - the time to explore it as I would like. Most of your places I could relate to though and that made it special. VERY WELL DONE!

My father was Tandy Bob Branham from Pike County. His father was Cleve & Cleve's father was Tan. Tan was born in 1867 & died in 1929 at age 62. That's as far back as I've gotten on the Branham side, as you can imagine, I read all I find on Branham heritage. Thank you for a wonderful website.

It is odd that I am at this site today as I started doing more Millard research in answer to a plea for help I received through a message board. My maternal grandmother was a Millard. However, this is not the first time I have seen and benefited from your handiwork! A few months ago I discovered you at Rootsweb while researching my PATERNAL line. My maiden name is Reynard and I recently discovered the link to the Haynes/Canfield/West/Tracy line that led me to you. It's a very convoluted story and much of what I have is based on other people's research but I thought you might enjoy one of the most thrilling outcomes to date. After discovering that my gggrandfather was Horatio B Reynard married to Amanda Elizabeth Haynes, my sister and I simultaneously discovered him listed on the 1900 census with the occupation of "violin maker". In a previously discovered directory of 1875 he was listed as a carpenter. We had also discovered that his parents were born in Alsace-Lorraine and Scotland so I went to a message board to change one of my queries. As I opened the board, there was his name, the date 1900, the word "fiddle" and the name of the town I grew up in. None of us remembered ever hearing that he made violins but here was a query from a music shop in PA. that had one of his violins and wondered if there was a family member that might like to have it. The upshot is, 2 days ago it arrived via UPS, I have seen his penciled name, date and the town inside and I am nearly ecstatic to have it!
I think I once emailed you about Lucy West Canfield, daughter of Elizabeth Tracy and Daniel West. I have made all the connections now but since I am not truly a "serious" genealogist, I am greatly grateful for ones like you who have done so much documentation and use the info just for curiosity's sake at the moment. I have sent for Horatio's civil war packet so I hope to have more "real" info about him soon but nothing can beat the "fiddle"!!
