What a lovely site. I'm just now finding the time to get into Genealogy in a prolonged fashion. Previous attempts were just hit and miss. I see that your Mother, Carol Ann Sopha has the same name as my older sister, Carol Ann Sopha. Your grandfather Kenneth Sopha and my father Bert Sopha were first cousins. Homer (Kenneth's father) and Herb (Bert's father) were brothers. There is one living member of Bert's family left, his younger sister, Sr. Joan Sopha. I keep asking her for more information and am slowly getting it. She has a picture of all of Herb and Homer's brothers which she has promised to send to me. I'll check back here from time to time and perhaps I can scan the picture over to you. In any event, you have a wonderful site, I hope I can do half as well.
Regards,
Joyce Diann Sopha Piecuch

We have run into a dead end on our Lawson family. James Lawson born 1775 - parents unknown - may be son of Jeanne who married James Sherlock. Sherlock left his estate to James Lawson and reference James as his son-in-law which in the 1700's may have meant step son.

Hi there

I found your site just wonderful I am starting to research the Sopha side and am finding it very intriguing. I did not realize how much information there is out there for the family history…since I have always been told that the “SOPHAö name is an un-common one. I will forward you any other information I have regarding my father’s family history….I have a family tree book at home from my grandmothers side maybe there is a link there. Is there a different address I can send this too.

My sister, Vida, called and told me about your research. It is wonderful that you did a family tree for the Lawson family. Enjoyed reading the documents. I remember your dad & mom very well and remember when you were little. Your grandma (as I called her Aunt Lena) would be proud of what you have accomplished.

I came across your website by accident & was surprised to discover someone had actually done some research on my mom's side of the family. Your dad is a first cousin to my mom, Ruth Phoebe (Meddaugh), and I used to go visit your grandma & grandpa when we were kids. I remember your dad when he was a teenager. We used to go to Port Huron and spend a few days with your auntie, Ruth Jane, and the kids. I was also surprised to see you had pictures of my grandma (Margaret Meddaugh Dandron) and my mom's sister, Janet, on your website. Good luck with your research.

I stumbled across your site by accident. I typed in my papaw's name (James Robert Patterson) and it brought it up. My dad is Hensley, my mom is Patterson. I found most of the info on them was correct but names were wrong on list of children for my granparents. My Hensley side is from Harlan originally--my Patterson side from Barbourville. I would like to know where you are in the "tree". Write back if you get this.
