My great-great-grandparents, Hector and Elizabeth Buchan are found in the 1870 U.S. census in Ward 2, Natchitoches Parish. Previously, as of the 1860 census, they lived in Winn Parish, Goodwater, with their 19 year old daughter, Elizabeth, and 14 year old son, James.
Their daughter, Elizabeth, married Greenberry White. Green and Eliz. were my great-grandparents and were also living in Ward 2, Natchitoches, in the 1870 and 1880 censuses. They had also lived in Winn Parish, Goodwater, as of the 1860 census. By 1880 several children had been born to them: Susan, Drury H. Mary J. (my grandmother), and Sallie and David (the latter two children apparently did not survive to adulthood).
I am researching both the Buchan and White ancestral lines.

It's a long story. My Great Great Grandfather come to
Caddo Parish on the River Trapping and Trading, Built a
Cabin then went back to Arkansas in 1838 in 3 states on time or other trapping grounds in Mississippi. I can trace back about 1635, in Jamestown, Virginia and before using
maternial lines.

Gilbert had all boys: Edward, Louis, Leon, Leonce, (twins), "Leasa", and Moise. Gilbert was born in 1845 and died in 1894. He was a farmer in south Natchitoches Parish.
Not sure of spelling for "Lea'sa"; not sure that this is his given name cause he was not born when the census was taken in 1880.The youngest son, Moise was born in 1881. Edward was nine in 1880 when the census was taken. He was my grandfather, and buried in Catholic Cementry in Natchitoches. If you can help me trace the track of this family please email me!

I am 11th generation Bossier, from Francois Bossier, one of Jean Baptiste Dit-LeBrun Bossier's three sons. Jean Baptiste Bossier(b.1676 in France) arrived in Louisiana with Le Harpe the French explorer in 1718. Jean Baptiste had a nickname "LeBrun" Bossier as he was called meaning in French "the brown" . "Dit" means "Known as". LeBrun Bossier helped to build the 1st and 2nd forts at Natchitoches Post I have been told by historians at N.S.U and Bossier City. Our family line of Francois Bossier is who Sen.Pierre Evariste Jean Baptiste Bossier 1797-1844, came from also. Francois was Pierre's grandfather. I love Natchitoches it is one of my favorite places on earth to go visit, maybe because I can walk where several generations of my family walked and lived almost 300 years ago! I am a southerner to the core even though I was born and live out west! I am so glad to see Natchitoches, and surrounding plantations are being preserved!! This is a great webpage!!
