Name of the person you are hunting Henry Allen Vickery
Allen Vickery
Comments:
Would like information of Henry's birth place and any on his family. Henry was born in 1818 to John Vickery and unknown half Cherokee indian woman. We know her last name was Sprinkle, this was her foster father's name in Illinois.
Miss Sprinkle was a captive with her mother and two brothers.
Her mother was a full blood and married to a scotch trader.
Her father was killed and the family ended up slaves of a Shawnee Man. Michael Sprinkle went to the village near Shawneetown Illinois. He saw the bad treatment of the woman and children who had hair and skin like their Scotch father.
Mr. Sprinkle may have known the Indian woman, as he too was a trader and gunsmith. He fought the Indian and won the fight. When he awoke in the morning, the indiand's horse and property was at Mr. Sprinkles door, including the Cherokee woman and her three children. He took them to near Shawneetown Il. where he built the first cabin in the area. The Cherokee woman soon died, leaving Mr. Sprinkle with the children. This was before 1800. Michael Sprinkle raised the children. This is where Miss. Sprinkle got her last name, from her foster father. She was born abt. 1790.
She married John Vickery, my g-g-g-grandfather, unknown where. They had Mary Vickery in 1810, in NC. or TN. Henry was born 1818 in Georgia. One census says TN. but the others say Geo. Their last son Richard Vickery was born in Shawneetown IL., in 1836. No records of John and Miss. Sprinkle after this date. but their children are well documented.
Also in 1818 Illinois census they are living in Gallatin County in Shawneetown with Mr. Vickery and Miss. Sprinkle,
near Michael Sprinkle. Thank You for any help you may have. Patricia Hooper

Name of the person you are hunting Sterling Hudgins
Comments:
I am searching for Sterling & Mary Elizabeth Hudgins (nee Riddick). Sterling appears on the 1800 Census for Oglethorpe Co. They had 3 sons and 3 daughters. I have the names of 2 sons: Ansel and David. Sterling was born 04 Feb 1769, in GA, possibly in Oglethorpe, and he and Mary Elizabeth were married about 1790 (this is a guess based on the children's ages at the 1800 Census-taking).

Any expanded information for this family would be most appreciated.
