The only thing I can find is one statement in the Hall-Overstreet book stating that Dabney had a son Abner, and a statement in the biographical item on Elizabeth Weber Overstreet stating that her husband's (Abner) parents were Dobney [sic] and Jane (Rogers) Overstreet.

He was my grandfather and died in a mine accident in Galena, Kansas about 1922, just before my father was born. He left a wife and 4 boys: Charles, Leroy, Lewis and Robert. Grandma raised them alone and they all became career military. Lewis was a tank commander in the Battle of the Bulge. Robert was in tanks in WW II, then went to the Army Air Force. He was a pilot in the Korean War and wound up flying jets in the Vietnam war. I would love to know more about my Overstreet family history. James M Overstreet should be buried in a cemetary at his old homestead purchased in Levy county Fl in 1895 (SecTownrange: 8-11-16) which I have located but not visited yet to actually find the homestead and cemetery.
Unfortunately my Grandfather James M Overstreet passed away last year and I failed to learn more from him when he wanted me to and it appears he may have been the last to actually know exactly where this land was. I encourage all of you to not make the same mistake.
I was able to do alot of research on the Bureau of Land Management web site and found the orriginal deeds for many Overstreets. The oldest one was for civil war "Sergent" Benoni Overstreet of the Virginia Line, 1797 signed in 1800 by President John Adams.

I am not an Overstreet but I have lots of references to the family in England. In the 16th and early 17th century there were a great many Overstreets in the area I come from. They all disappear from the records early in the 17th century. They were all potters, brickmakers and tilers and I assume they were recruited to emigrate to the colonies. There are few, if any, Overstreets left in England today. My father, who was interested in what became of the family, search diligently for them but the only ones he ever found were American.
